Yellowstone's Beth Dutton Must Have Saved A Tube of a Cancelled Lipstick

Beth jamieBy Kim Rossi

In November of 2013, I wrote an article for Huffington Post expressing my disgust with a lipstick name at Sephora. The name was "Celebutard." I wrote:

Sephora cosmetics has a funky line of lipsticks under the Kat Von D. name called Painted ink. That's cool. One of the names of a creamy buff color is "Celebutard." Definitely not cool, funny or acceptable.

They pulled it from the shelves fairly quickly. I added:

People with disabilities are the last to benefit from what some might call "political correctness," and what I would call basic human decency. "Retard" is still bandied about - even by people I like a lot, like Howard Stern and his crew, who still have wack packers with the R word in their name.

I revolted against the use of "...tard." Even Howard Stern, whom I mentioned, struck the R word from his program many years ago.

But last night, the suffix was back on Yellowstone. For those of you who watch Yellowstone, you know main character Beth Dutton is a fierce family woman who uses tough tactics and drinks vodka like a fish. Her hatred for her brother Jamie, whom she knows was involved in her father's vicious murder (Kevin Costner) is legendary. She called him, and we got to see his name in her iPhone contacts.

FUCKTARD.

And some viewers ate it up with a spoon. Yellowstone Fans Are LOVING Beth’s Nickname For Jamie In Her Cellphone Contacts

How is it that the "tard" words are still here, some 11 years after the Sephora dust up?

I hope families will join me as we request showrunner Taylor Sheridan and ALL writers take the"tard" words straight to the train station where they belong. Dead and buried in ignominy.

Kim Rossi is Managing Editor for Age of Autism and would take on Beth Dutton any day of the week when it comes to protecting her own family and others. And she'd be sober.

I don't wear Sephora makeup. As Mom to three kids with autism, I call a clean face with maybe a swipe of mascara "camera ready." And as Mom of special needs kids - and friend to many people whose children have Down Syndrome, I wouldn't put this lipstick on a pig.

Tell Kat Von D her lipstick gets an "F."

Kim for Bill

Bill, I give you a chance to have a voice and you crap on me and others here at every turn. My daughters do not have DS for starters. I'd invite you to peek at my privilege - but I don't want you anywhere near us and you'd be sorely disappointed. Your convoluted and negative thinking surely makes your life difficult everywhere. But not here any longer.

The privilege white mother of a person with Down syndrome is overly offended by a product called "Celebutard"
Why not tell Nestle and other companies to cancel a product line called "Negrita"?! These products are sold in Latin America along with other products that are offensive to the Afro-decent and The Indigenous majorities of such countries like Colombia or Brazil. Hashtag Hispanic and Latin is not a races nor ethnicities they are vague geographic terms.
Minor offensive terms can hurt a little but lets us not forget about discrimination and worse outright murder of disabled people especially minorities with disabilities. this happens on a daily basis with not justice for the victim with a disability. More disturbingly false allegation against people with disabilities especially African and indigenous decent ones.

Even their cattle are tougher than our cattle.
One of their cows that they had to help give birth, jumped right up and took off with the new born calf running after her.
Our cows that needs help giving birth are lucky to ever walk again, and the shivering newborn has to rubbed off, and forced fed some kind of supplement to get a belly full to regain some strength after a difficult birth.

So tough that I just can't watch cause nothing measures up.

Yellow Stone at least is not up in our kids faces though.
That was left up to a movie long ago for teenagers which I took my son to, since he had a crush on one of the teenybobbers. That broke his heart by asking the hero of the story that was an international spy if he was in special ed. In which my son quietly said "Ouch"

What an outrage that the use of the word "tard" is once again resurfacing in TV shows, and even with a make up line of Sephora! I don't use Sephora and any use of this hurtful, damaging word should be forever banned from civilized society. People with disabilities are human beings who should be treated with dignity and respect, not made fun of or to sell products!

Not the first time references to special needs in a negative light have been made on Yellowstone. The character of Jimmy has been teased and made fun of and called names. Taylor Sheridan doesn’t exactly seem like the type of guy who cares about respecting our kiddos let alone anyone else but himself.

I watch this show and love it. I am quite disappointed this word is coming back into consciousness. Hollywood ... the promoter of political correctness and wokeness needs fix it.
