One Pink Teddy Bear Turns 30
By Kim Rossi
Cathy has today off.
Happy 30th birthday to my oldest daughter. I saved the pink bear she received when she was born. I didn't save her from profound autism, though. Like so many of us, I had no idea what was ahead. That there was a fork in the road, and I had a choice. And so our story is the Age of Autism story. And this is why we are still publishing.
We've had a lovely weekend celebrating with helpers, her sisters and amazing people, some of whom have become even better than family.
We have a safe, content life, and yes, it's out of the
ordinary.
Which technically makes it "extraordinary."
Happy Holidays!
Kim
Belated Happy Birthday Mia, Im sure your Mum gave you a great day.

Happy 30th birthday to your wonderful daughter! My son recently had a birthday in November and he is also in his 30s. We had no crystal ball to tell us that his future would include an autism and epilepsy diagnosis. I never even heard of autism when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s. God Bless and protect our special children/adults as we wait for the miracle cure for this unexpected condition, illness, immune dysfunction. Research is the answer.

Good morning Ms Rossi and good morning to all of the AoA readers! Happy 30th birthday to your daughter. Our oldest , who is our only daughter is healthy and thriving. But I cannot help but to think if things had been a little different, when she was about 10 months old, she caught an ear infection and got antibiotics. 2 months later it was time for her MMR and other shots, she seemed ok, with no Ill effect.
Our Sam, not so fortunate, ill with ear infecton and on antibiotics, MMR give. Plus two others, serious health issues and regression began shortly after that. Just random thoughts on this Sunday. Our daughter still has a stuffed pig named lucky that she got when she turned one.
Thanks for the important post, very emotional and to the point. Blessings to all!
