Back in the 30s the whole Appalachian mountains began dam building in the whole area to prevent the floods, because it was very prone to flooding.

They dammed a lot of great and mighty rivers including the Cumberland as well.

Branson, Tennessee has a famous train ride through the Blue Ridge mountains that so very many flock to especially in the fall months. They are advertising that they are fine, the leaves are turning and everything is open, no problems, no flooding. A river runs through the town, and along the rail road tracks.

Right up the road from Branson is the Cherokee reservation. It has always been a tourist hot spot, and more so than ever with the casinos. If you continue through Cherokee it takes you over the tall mountain ridge past Dolly Wood, and on into famous Gatlinburg. That is where most couples in my area go for their honeymoon.

None of that was flooded.
Cause they had the lakes all drained down low
Why they had their lakes down low, was because they said heavy rain was coming.
They did not hold on to that water cause they were worried about a drought. 2016 because of a drought Dolly Wood burned to the ground. Never the less, they drained the lakes and prepared.

Some of the problems with Ashland were lakes and reservoirs were well on the high side.

There is a FEMA camp set up to hold 700 FEMA workers. Things are moving rapidly now for FEMA and it is a huge complex. Some of the traffic coming into the FEMA camps are sludge tankers for mining.

And when did I have to go so far of a fall in any semblance of trust in the government that I would even believe there is something shady with the FEMA whole deal But there it is. It does not involve a government ability to drive a hurricane into the are, but perhaps setting up things, that if it goes bad it would go really bad. That is not hard to do when it comes to flash floods.

Meanwhile in my back door, in my farming community, the farms are all bought up with unbelievable amounts of money. They plan on putting in a battery factory, that is the rumor. So secretive, nothing official except our little knot head governor mentioned it in passing. A battery factory right on the head waters and main watersheds going into lake Cumberland. They are wanting to buy up additional land for a green buffer.

A green buffer? A green buffer when you really plan to pollute the land with stuff that goes into batteries and that includes lead. As well as lithium.

I admit, those lithium batters for power tools are fantastic. But for electric cars, when a gas engine is the best ever invention? While electric cars are bursting into flames, no hook ups, not enough electricity available if there were and on and on with the trouble of dependable travel with an electric car..

I think what I am reading about in your links is a bunch of people dumping pollution into the air, but claiming it is okay cause they are really trying to save the planet from the fake climate warming lie.

They all did not want to lose their license. I had one doctor right in front of me warn a brand new doctor, doing his clinicals; that to mention this anywhere in the records was to risk all that he had worked for. He was an allergy doctor. It sure did not stop with my kids, now did it? As I warned everyone I knew. Such faith in our medical people that most could not see their kids' health problems could be vaccine related. Now look at us!

Neither the "left" nor the "right" cares about the lives of disabled persons during natural disasters. It does not matter if this lack of compassion is in the United States or in some obscure island country called Mauritius. Maurice another name for the country has a very peculiar option out. This opt out is from the "convention on the rights of persons with disabilities" which is a UN treaty signed and, in most cases, ratified in 2005 by most of the world's countries. This country feels no legal or moral obligation to help those with disabilities during natural disasters.
