Safeminds Highlights Study on Autism Throughout Midlife and Beyond
Ask any autism parent, "What's your biggest fear," and chances are they will answer, my child's life as an adult as I grow older and then die." Safeminds highlighted the study below.
New Research Examines Symptoms of Autism Throughout Midlife and Beyond
Findings Show that Those without ID Had an Accelerated Set of Challenges in Later Years
New research from the University of Wisconsin used an accelerated longitudinal design to estimate age-related trajectories over a 60-year period for a large community-based sample of individuals on the spectrum. Unlike most studies that track autism trajectories over childhood, this study describes changes in autism symptoms, behavioral functioning, and health measured over 22 years into midlife and early old age. The study analyzed if these trajectories differed between those who have intellectual disability (ID) and those who have average or above-average intelligence. The results showed that most autism symptoms improved through adulthood while health worsened. Different measures manifested different patterns, with an inverted U-shaped curve best-describing change for repetitive behavior symptoms, activities of daily living, maladaptive behaviors, and social interaction. Individuals with and without ID showed differences in their aging years. Surprisingly, while those with ID had poorer levels of functioning, the study revealed that those without ID faced an accelerating set of challenges in their aging years, including an increase in medications for physical health problems and worsening repetitive behaviors. The authors conclude that meeting the needs of the increasingly large population of adults with autism in midlife and old age requires a nuanced understanding of life course trajectories across the long stretch of adulthood and multiple domains.
The Wuhan Cover-Up: And the Terrifying Bioweapons Arms Race (Children’s Health Defense) NOW AVAILABLE TO SHIP!
“Gain-of-function” experiments are often conducted to deliberately develop highly virulent, easily transmissible pathogens for the stated purpose of developing preemptive vaccines for animal viruses before they jump to humans. More insidious is the “dual use” nature of this research, specifically directed toward bioweapons development. The Wuhan Cover-Up pulls back the curtain on how the US government's increase in biosecurity spending after the 2001 terror attacks set in motion a plan to transform the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), under the direction of Dr. Anthony Fauci, into a de facto Defense Department agency.
Bill;
I think Age of Autism Blog had an article on it that featured
Renee Diresta
Some one direct me to the how you find old articles quickly on age of autism and that search with Google does not pull up things, do they have to go by title and no key words?
Anyway I did not know who she was.
I read it the article, and forgot about it really, cause I did not understand from the article what a big, creepy leader she was in censoring all of us. She is the reason I ended up in facebook jail.
Facebook got all mad at little o'le me that they even said - And you can participate in the face book market place either. At the time I did not know they had a market place. But being one of the filthy masses, they were sure that they could put me in line , cause we all like that used thrift style stuff . Oh, but were they ever going to going to punish me.
So Bill are you part of the mob that just sits around and think on the stuff that they can do?
One of them "BILL", is to always say that Autism is over diagnosed. Autism is over diagnosed,. Autism is over diagnosed. You make it really special by saying and a child can only be diagnosed if they have access to a real, medically trained, specialist like a psychiatrist; but not a psychologist, like those found in any common, run of the mill, schools . Thank you Bill for poking my bear and keeping the fire roaring.
Renee Diresta; Her claim she says at her beginnings; is that it all started because she was a new parent and she was out there to set things right about those darn anitvaxxers.
Turns out she is not a just a little o'le parent

Autism is over diagnosed, and it is now diagnosed magically in adults when previously that was extremely rare. When I was diagnosed as a child in 2001 autism was beginning to become over diagnose. An adult getting a diagnosis was so rare to be almost nonexistent in the late 90's early 2000's. It is true there is some increase in autism in the last 20 some years but not to the level the media says. I am getting so tired of the Autism/Non-autism disability issues on either side of a political debate turning trivial and occasionally violent and I am thinking of moving abroad.
Make no mistake we need services for disabled adults with autism or without and not just in America and Canada but also in Albania and Zambia. All countries and states and provinces have a shortage of disabled services like affordable housing and supportive employment.
