R.I.P Tanner. My condolences to his loved ones. Here is a little poem I found some time ago. I really believe in its words.
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort.
Without the trace of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval,
Somewhere very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well.

I’m sending prayers to Tanner’s loved ones.
We lost a member of our family. The autism community is one big family. We are hear for each other to celebrate the ups and mourn together when things are rocky. I was stunned to hear about Tanner. We all live with so many fears the average parent cannot even comprehend. Every time I see a tragedy like this I think how easily it could have been mine. My son barely escaped tragedy the night he suffered two strokes - he could easily of died. Today I will take a moment and pray for his beautiful soul. He did not have an easy life but he was surrounded by more love than most people feel in a lifetime.

The joy your son brought into our lives was immeasurable. His presence was a gift. He will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
My deepest sympathy to Tanner’s family, especially to his dad whose main mission in life has been to advocate for his son, while telling the world about the harm that has been done to so many children. His deep love for Tanner was always evident.

It is a terrible feeling to lose a person who propels you forward every day. I have no words to distract Tim and Cheri from the numbness and grief. I hope they keep telling those funny stories when Tanner made them laugh.
