No Means No

Scrolling through a local news website, I saw a nurse being interviewed about the COVID shot. The blurb that accompanied the video shared that the “…assistant dean of the Columbia University School of Nursing says there needs to be a ‘multifactorial’ approach when trying to convince people to get vaccinated.” The Associated Press also shared the link with the nurse, who’s part of this CDC-funded organization.

As I watched, it was clear that the message was not to inform or educate the public about the shot. It was to do everything possible “to get the last percentage of people vaccinated”. Since that hasn’t happened, despite an abundance of free vaccines being available, groups, including the US government, are using all sorts of approaches to peer pressure everyone to get vaccinated. The nurse suggests using other people – spokespeople of the same race, church representatives, youth ambassadors, and celebrities. Other techniques are to use avenues like social media. Getting the right people to tell their own story to these last few Americans could be convincing. Smiling through the short interview, she seemed proud of strategies and tactics she suggested to raise vaccine confidence.
All over the web, like clockwork, other local news stations and websites shared the exact same message.
The nurse’s message aligned with Biden’s latest complaint that not every American has gotten the shot.
I know he struggles sometimes, but Biden, like those funds the nurse’s mission, have not gotten the message that some Americans do not want the shot, cannot take the shot, and will not get that shot. These Americans aren’t perseverating their message as much as the administration currently is, but they’ve been vocal, too.
They’ve confidently said no.
They’ve politely said no, thank you.
They’ve emphatically said no!
Their message needs no elaborate tactics and is very simple: No means no. They’ve said that over a year ago when vaccines became part of the COVID19 conversation, and their saying it again. How much clearer do they need to be?
My kids know that sometimes they don’t get to do what they want. They know that they may be disappointed if the answer to a request they’ve made is no. It’s tough being a kid, but they know to respect the answer, especially when the answer is no. If they don’t respect it, they may face consequences.
Some people at the top of the COVID19 pyramid are having a hard time respecting an answer they don’t want to hear. I wonder what it’s going to take to get them to back off. With restrictions being reinstated for some in the workforce, regardless of vaccine status, I have an awful feeling that things aren’t going to go so well for some this time around. Threatening and enforcing unnecessary restrictions is not good strategy. That’s squeezed the life out of too many people already.

Professional rivalery does absolutely nothing towards patient care , zero, nil , nothing .
We used to get general and midwifery nursing students for placements ,in our unit, with the most complex needs ,children and young adults you can imagine .
Doing a walk round visit, one day, with students with their midwifery Tutor ,the Tutor said ,in the nursery "This is some of our mistakes " I had to say " Sorry visit over" Then a polite but direct conversation with the tutors boss ! If any of the staff had heard that getting said, let alone a family member, it would have caused an uproar and a riot in an empty hospital canteen, let alone a commotion in our hospital canteen!
The senior Tutor agreed ,and said she would deal with it !

Polite but direct "No" is the limit and boundary! With plain language format, in any language or local accent ,giving clear intention instructions!
Who is accountable and responsible for this persons training ?
Obviously the trainers need to get their basics back to basics , that professional presentation could not pass bed pan preperation standards of being ready to work with the public ?
The Trainers of The Trainers need to get the message loud and clear "Professionls will not drop their standards " for a free lunch?"

Well Lindsy Graham came down with Covid. Was that today or yesterday? I am getting everything mixed up in my head.
They think he got it while on a house boat drifting around , or cruising around Washington. House boast was Joe Manchin's . He said he was not parting just trying to keep every body together or have a nice working relationship.
I don't mind at all. It was on a Saturday, that is a week end and if I could house boat it --- I would.
But he came down with symptoms on Monday. That is a mere two days.
On average, symptoms showed up in the newly infected person about 5 days after contact. Rarely, symptoms appeared as soon as 2 days after exposure. Most people with symptoms had them by day 12. And most of the other ill people were sick by day 14
Yeah, two weeks is what they taught me in college.
So the faster you come down with it---although I never heard of it happening for two days ever --ever ---until now -- but what ever ----
He might not be getting off easy as he thinks he is - cause he was vaccinated and just has symptoms of a mild flu so far.
Sounds to me more like an immune enhancement --- problem.

I know someone who got the email to get the jab. They live in a state that still has a religious and medical exemption. The mandate also included a link to a form to fill out if you wanted a religious or medical exemption. They filled out a religious exemption with the reason being that the jabs all used aborted fetal tissue to develop them. They were already working from home and said they would wear a mask if they needed to go into the office (rare). No more was said about the issue, and the company is happy with their work. Stand your ground.

We had a work zoom about the forced vaccines. About 100 people , zero questions. The silence was absolutely deafening. People are afraid - of the vaccine, of losing their job, and of asking questions. I’m not sure how they’re going to handle it. Lots of people have nicely said no way, and some of these people are the core of the company. Your most valued and trusted employees. I can only hope they open a channel or they , we, will lose a lot of good workers that won’t be easily replaced.

Notice that they target low-information health consumers for “convincing” aka browbeating. Beer. Donuts. Next up is McDonald’s. Those are the ones ignorant and/or hypnotized by advertising. I’m actually encouraged that they’ve only gotten to (allegedly) 60% with their campaign so far.

Sorry, but if you're truly against negotiation and argumentation, then you are for force.
Poignantly, and tragically, this is illustrated in your anecdote that your child must accept your decision and their ability to negotiate for their wants, preference or need will be met with forced silence. WHICH IS EXACTLY HOW THE WORLD IS TREATING THE VACCINE HESITANT.
If we want our nation to be free, it must be compromised of free individuals; FREEDOM OF SPEECH is first because of it's primacy. If you disagree with govt funded positions being shoved down your throat and forced silence, then please have the humility and basic integrity to not do the exact same to your kids.

Goodness! Where to begin? I remember back in College-mid 1980's, I use to belong to a certain Political Party. Our Motto at the time was Question Authority! We use to have buttons on our back packs that said Question Authority. Now that party has changed so much. However, I do remember some of my college professors speaking about their anti war protests and how popular the saying "Hell no we won't go!" was. So building on that memory our saying should be:
"Hell no we won't Vax!!"

For many of us, no means NEVER. It does not matter the inducements, pleadings or punitive measures. It also means that we will push back on the coercion and attempted force. We will fight back in the courts, we will protest, and we will get our message out to others. We will not disappear quietly. We will not be silenced.
