Missing since March, man found dead in basement of adult care facility where he lived

And Now For The Pause that Refreshes

The pause that refreshesThe Pause that Refreshes was an advertising slogan from Coke, almost 100 years ago, in 1929, the year the stock market crashed.  Today, we're COVID crashing.

I was sitting at my desk, working on something autism-ish (what else is new?) and What the World Needs Now popped onto my Sirius station. I am disheartened by what I see happening around me. Especially on social media. We've always had divisions, even in the autism community. But we haven't been so openly contemptuous of one another. Contempt destroys friendships. Relationships. It burns bridges and prohibits reconciliation.

It may be cliche to talk about love, sweet love. But what if we just talk about listening?

While people choose sides - a huge chunk of our community is just trying to stay afloat. COVID has destroyed school and wiped out day programming. Parents have become more than full time caretakers. We've always been some superhuman version of Mom or Dad. Now we're expected to be teachers, therapists, recreational assistants, behaviorists -- and it's all unpaid work.  Other relationships suffer. One warrior Mom lamented that she has had ZERO time with her husband for months as they try to man the battle stations of autism and seizures and run a household. That is not healthy.

My older daughters are back at their day program part time. The program is limping along in the summer months because they can go to the parks and beaches, but come the Fall weather, I don't know what their days will look like sitting in stripped down rooms. My youngest's school shut down in June, refusing to tackle COVID programming. The school district and I are creating a transition program out of whole cloth. Except first we have to grow the cotton, spin it into thread, warp and weave it into material, fabricate a pattern, cut the cloth, sew the cloth and then - maybe we'll have a program. If we can find cotton seeds.

My role at AofA is to remind readers that we know you are still struggling. The organizations that used to be so active are all but gone.  Conferences are virtual if held at all. Yahoo groups where we felt safe are long gone, replaced by Facebook and Twitter with black box warnings on our work. We thought we were "old timers" ten years ago. I'm close to 25 years into autism. How about you?

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing, that there's just too little of

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing, that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
Lord, we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last 'til the end of time
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, but for everyone
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing, that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, oh, but just for every-, every-, everyone

Another group which has been devastated by the "lockdown", and we maybe don't have enough concern for, are the young singles who are being refused the right to meet up and find their life companion. I have been married, and now been single for many years, and that's nowhere near as bad as never having had that experience at all. Of course, adult autistic people have known this misery for a long time. It's interesting that the young singles are one of the few groups who have actively defied the lock-up with their parties. We should all give them more support. There is also the related problem for those who have a partner they don't yet live with. There has been at least one suicide in Britain of a young man who couldn't see his girlfriend.
It occurs to me, could this be another of Their attempts to reduce the population? I would have thought it would be less cruel to ask people to limit the number of children they have, rather than not get married at all.

Thanks Kim, I didn't know how badly I needed that refreshing! Played it twice.

I am hopeful this PLANDEMIC will expose our public health bureaucracies for the frauds they have become … mere shills for the pharmaceutical industry … "science" having nothing to do with many of their decisions during this nightmare PLANDEMIC.

Just yesterday it was reported a Blue-ribbon Commission is being considered to regain the public's trust and confidence in VACCINES .. as more and more people are refusing to accept ANY vaccine that may finally arrive. This effort follows a GLOBAL protest on vaccines and other public health policies that too … is GROWING IN NUMBERS AS THE COVID RESPONSE CONTINUES TO FRUSTRATE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD … NOTHING CAN BE TRUSTED .. WHO, CDC, FDA, HHS, .. and that DISTRUST IS LIKELY TO CONTINUE FOR DECADES .. AS MORE AND MORE EFFORTS TO DENY "FREE SPEECH" CONTINUES TO ADD FRUSTRATION.

I am hoping this PLANDEMIC will prove to be a PANDORA'S BOX for public health tyrants masquerading as servants of the people .. rather than servants of pharma industry they are.
