Peaceful Gathering at NJ Governor’s Residence to Humanize Vaccine Choice
This is the season of miracles. On Saturday, an event took place outside the New Jersey governor Phil Murphy's home to help him understand that the "evil anti-vaxxers" fighting to retain the Religious Exemption in the Garden State are.... neighbors. In fact, one is literally his neighbor. That's Louise Habakus of Fearless Parent at the microphone.
The media and government have done what is necessary in war. They have made average citizens fear parents who do not choose every vaccine on the schedule for their children. They have demonized us. Called us a public health danger. Made us seem unAmerican even - how dare we not take care of the herd! We can fight back with facts, with protests and events like this. Where a Governor gets to know the men and women and children who will be affected by s2173.
This week, many of us celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah. Even if you do not celebrate either, this week is one where folks are a little kinder to each other. The pace slows down for strangers, family and friends. We enjoy a special meal, Tradition matters. Most of us have a day or two to rest. A little. December 23 has always been my favorite day of the year. Not my birthday. Not Christmas day itself. December 23. It has a special feeling to me as we anticipate the 24th and 25th. Today, on December 23, I hope Phil Murphy enjoys the peace of the season, and that the grouping at his home helped open his heart and mind.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

@ Jonathan
".... It was a demonstration on the property of Louise Habakus, who happens to be a neighbor of the Governor"
Thanks for the clarification … I remember Louise well over many years since I first met her at a demonstration in Trenton NJ many years ago … good to see and hear she remains as courageous and strong today. God bless her and your family for all you guys have done for our community.

Thank you Kim. The 23rd IS my birthday! I am 78. My adopted son is 28.
You all know what I want for my birthday. A year when all the supports fall into place, and I know he will be safe and happy in the future. A little prayer for all of us.

I see your point, Bob, but this was not a demonstration in front of the Governor's home. It was a demonstration on the property of Louise Habakus, who happens to be a neighbor of the Governor. She had an invitation to attend the Governor's holiday party, which was held immediately after the demonstration, and she brought him a basketful of Christmas cards from the demonstrators.
Louise organized this demonstration brilliantly and literally overnight, attracting at least a hundred demonstrators (including our family) in the bitter cold. Politicians notice that our side can quickly turn out hundreds or thousands of demonstrators. The Dark Side can't come close to that: they only have lobbyists.

Normally I would not support holding a "peaceful demonstration" in front of a politicians private home .. but .. in this instance I fully support those peaceful neighbors gathered in front of NJ Governor's home .. as the governor has decided that he and his fellow elected legislatures have a right to INTRUDE INTO THE PERSONAL LIVES OF PARENTS THROUGHOUT NEW JERSEY on the issue of MANDATED VACCINES.
While it may be inconvenient and somewhat embarrassing for the Governor and his family to endure the peaceful demonstration … that "inconvenience and embarrassment" pales when compared to the "inconvenience and FEAR" that parents and their precious children must endure for the rest of their lives due to the Governor's compassion-less intrusion between a parent's RIGHT to informed consent and their child's health.
