New York State Overrides Doctor's Recommendation

State says bow down"valid medical reasons
valid medical reasons
valid medical reasons
valid medical reasons
valid medical reasons"

Scrutiny of vaccine exemptions banishes some from schools

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Carl and Kerri Schwartz say they have good medical reason for not vaccinating their disabled 11-year-old son, Thorn, and until recently his local public school went along with their family doctor’s advice.

That changed, the Schwartzes said, when New York state did away with religious exemptions for vaccines in the middle of a measles outbreak, and then clamped down on medical exemptions like theirs. Thorn is now barred from his school in Fairport while his parents challenge the district’s rejection of his exemption.

Thorn Schwartz has autism, a developmental disorder that affects each child differently, and his father said a new state policy is leaving little room for exceptions.

“It’s just so specific for that patient. If that doctor can’t tie a particular vaccination to this particular child’s body, it’s just denied. Period,” Carl Schwartz said.

Amid a flurry of proposals to end personal-belief exemptions for vaccines in states around the country, families like the Schwartzes and others say the restrictions that passed in New York have led to unbending scrutiny and, in some cases, decisions that overrule the guidance of family doctors and force children into home-schooling.

New York this year became the fifth state to require all students except those with valid medical reasons to be fully vaccinated, when lawmakers eliminated exemptions on religious grounds.

(Hint: The State will tell you that there are no valid medical reasons.)

Well, less kids going to public school means they lose money. Believe me, I have been in the school systems that take truancy serious cause it cost them money! AND BOY it shocks me at the speed that they announce they will close those schools down for week, if too many kids are home sick and absent. Money yells!
I wished I had home schooled and did not vaccine. Now that it is all over for me, I so want to do it over and rebel, like Del Bigtree's Mom.

@Bob - Well, a moderator could ask that question. But I am sure that most candidates - Republican, Democrat, Libertarian - would say they support "informed consent" and "freedom of religion." Really, I can't imagine anyone saying "no" to any of those. Certainly not in a publicly televised debate.

But...where the rubber meets the road it's a different story. Politicians say all sorts of things and make all sort of promises. Remember, Trump promised to do something about vaccines and autism and ended up nominating agency heads who were all pro-vax.

Then, he recommended everyone get a measles shot. Specifically, President Trump urged families to vaccinate their children... “They have to get the shots. The vaccinations are so important,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House. “This [measles] is really going around now. They have to get their shots.”

I am sure he would say he's for informed consent and freedom of religion.

'It’s not on the list of things to discuss and debate, Mr Moffit, because discussion lends itself to infallibility.'

To me it is pretty simple … either these presidential candidates believe we have a right to INFORMED CONSENT .. and .. we have FREEDOM OF RELIGION … or we do not.

How hard would it be for some "moderator" to ask all candidates if they support INFORMED CONSENT AND FREEDOM OF RELIGION?????

The vaccine sociopaths are on a rampage this year. Child sacrifice is the state-mandated religion. Burn the non-believers!

It’s not on the list of things to discuss and debate, Mr Moffit, because discussion lends itself to infallibility. As a culture of people we are supposed to believe that what gets injected into children is nothing but safe, nothing but pure, nothing but effective, and nothing but absolutely necessary. So complete must the illusion be, that we must continue to vaccinate injured children to maintain the fallacy that there was be injury. Criminal! Insane! Heinous!
My deepest condolences to the Schwartz family!

Bob Moffit,
It does seem unfair that the childs' personal information is all through the papers, but the government employees who made the decision get anonymity. While I am no fan of harassing individuals, which is always cruel, and happens way too much, I do think there is a place for officials to be held accountable for the way they do their job.
At least the government department should be identified, so that concerned citizens can register complaints. As Terry Pratchett, one of my favorite authors, said " evil might come animal sharp in the night or greyly by day on a list"
I do think there needs to be accountability for those who are in charge of making the lists..... A policy is something that someone decided on, and can be changed as needed. Concerned citizens have a right to peacefully and politely tell government officials when their work is , as in this case , extremely sub par.

Why isn't this expanding State legislative effort .. now five States … to eliminate all religious, philosophical, medical exemptions from State mandated vaccines … enforced by denying any child who is not fully vaccinated access to public education .. a topic discussed in the ongoing, nationally televised Democratic Presidential debates? We hear over and over .. the same questions .. on the same topics … health care, global warming, gun control, on and on .. yet … somehow no questions are asked of these Presidential want-to-bees .. if they believe State legislatures and State public health officials know better than parents … what is in the best interests of MILLIONS OF CHILDREN IN THIS COUNTRY .. or even .. MEDICAL DOCTORS????

From the full article:

"Another New York child who had his medical exemption rejected, Ameer Hamideh, 9, uses a wheelchair and assisted communication device because of cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. He was in and out of the hospital for seizures after his last round of immunizations as a toddler.

The child’s neurologist, Dr. Sarah Finnegan, completed a state-required form for the Frontier Central School District recommending against additional shots because of a history of “seizure activity triggered by these immunizations.” But the district instead followed the advice of a state Health Department official who recommended against the exemption."

Imagine that .. you have a child who has a SEIZURE DISORDER … causing repeated hospitalizations for SEIZURES AFTER HIS LAST ROUND OF IMMUNIZATIONS … whose doctor recommended against additional shots because of his prior seizures following vaccinations .. being overruled by the child's SCHOOL DISTRICT HEALTH DEPT OFFICIAL ..

If that is not a case of MEDICAL TYRANNY .. I don't know what else it could be called?

Just about every vaccine required warns of possible SEIZURES … and … that HEALTH DEPT OFFICIAL who denied the child's MEDICAL EXEMPTION should be CRIMINALLY prosecuted for CHILD ABIUSE.
