Autism 21 and Done
Time flies. Gianna, in her fashion, is leaving the nest (not literally, she lives with her sisters and me!) and starting the adult phase of her life. School ends today. She turns 22 next month. Can you imagine that? She will be attending a program for adults with special needs. She'll be safe and well cared for and have a chance to grow and learn and gain skills toward more independence. And while it sure isn't what I had ever planned for her - I'm grateful that we have good people helping us. Mia's age out was much tougher on me. But I'm in a better frame of mind than I was two years ago, so perhaps that's a big part of my peace. I hope you are find peace too. In some fashion. We can do this, friends. Readers. Stay strong.
Love, Kim
21 and done; but just the beginning of great things to come. Perhaps not great as in finding the cure for a disease, or to stop war; but in curing the heart of human kind.
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual illumination.
17. 1 Corinthians 2:7-13 No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths.

Really good article, us is real people ,not evidence based no's fudge, for them" bumping their gums" community" persons " immunity from responsibility or accountability for us population" commodities" instead of rivvets in ships "clyde built" Are us population ourselves the economy? Sutherland Clearences all over again ? Sheep over People?
Still, really good article, and look at the possibilities., as a general trained nurse I took the post of nurse for the then called Scottish Council for Spastics in 1980's now called Capibility Scotland. Solid no nonsence organisation . Never looked back !
See "When your voice is but a whisper" by Capibility Scotland youtube
Wow so good to see auld friends/clients. Hillington folk from the day centre / work centre doing their potential "Just Fab "

Independence is great for a young person's self-esteem. I also left home at 22, but I didn't get any help because no one knew I had Asperger, not even me. I was made to believe I was lazy and weak. Gianna will be getting the help and guidance she needs.
The thing is, you don't know what you can do until you try. I had doubted my ability at that age, to hold down a job, to live independently, to learn martial arts. And I've done it all.
Don't let nothing hold you back, Gianna. You might surprise even yourself with what you can achieve.

I know Kim, that when you went though it the first time with Mia, your heart broke into and you cried for days. May you find peace where you can.
