America's Opioid Crisis: Just What the Doctor Ordered
Note: The opioid crisis (heroin overdose) is rampant here in my state of Connecticut, and throughout America. A dear friend of mine lost his son two years ago. Last year, a young adult overdosed in the bathroom of our Starbucks right here in idyllic Fairfield County. Drugs don't care what your zip code is or the status of the label on your handbag. Given the sharp tone of this article, squarely blaming our profit based medical system and "pill for every ill" mindset, one would think the Brit media would be a bit more understanding of the vaccine injury epidemic? Seems they are immune.

Opioids killed more than 33,000 Americans in 2015 and the toll was almost certainly higher last year. About half of deaths involved prescription painkillers. Most of those who overdose on heroin or a synthetic opiate, such as fentanyl, first become hooked on legal pills.
This is an almost uniquely American crisis driven in good part by particular American issues from the influence of drug companies over medical policy to a “pill for every ill” culture. Trump’s commission, which called the opioid epidemic “unparalleled”, said the grim reality is that “the amount of opioids prescribed in the US was enough for every American to be medicated around the clock for three weeks”.

SYRACUSE (Tribune News Service) — The latest tactic in fighting the heroin epidemic is a vaccine aimed to prevent users from getting addicted to and high on the drug.
Upstate Medical University is part of a research project for the vaccine, developed by researchers in the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research's Military HIV Research Program in Maryland, and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. During preclinical studies, the vaccine produced antibodies that stopped heroin from entering the brains of mice and rats for up to three months.
Using vaccines to combat addiction got a lot of attention in 2017 when Tom Price, President Trump's former U.S. health and human services secretary, touted them in a news conference. Other research groups also are working on developing heroin vaccines. The Scripps Research Institute in California announced last year its vaccine is almost ready for human testing. Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation is also in the process of development.
Dr. Stephen J. Thomas, spearheading the research and chief of infectious diseases division at the university, said the vaccine replicates the active metabolite of heroin, attached with other materials, making the body develop antibodies against it. This, in turn, tricks the body into rejecting heroin when it's used next, preventing it from having psychoactive effects.

Many psychiatric medicines are closely related to street drugs especially. Ritalin sometimes used by those with autism and more commonly ADHD it's close chemical relative of the illicit drug meth. Those with true autism as opposed to Asperger's or Schizophrenia( falsely appearing to be autism on some rare occasions) are much less likely than the general population to use drugs.

Earlier this year, Terry Gross, "Fresh Air" interviewed Dr. Dr. Anna Lembke on the American opioid addiction who authored--"Drug Dealer, MD: How Doctors Were Duped, Patients Got Hooked, And Why It's So Hard To Stop." Lembke made this comment.
LEMBKE: "Starting in the 1980s, doctors started to be told that opioids were effective treatment for chronic pain and that treating patients long term with opioids was evidence-based medicine. That was patently false, and that was propagated by what I call big medicine in cahoots with big pharma. "
This is especially relevant now since Congress and the President signed that the 21st Century Cures Act which included $1 billion dollars over the next two years to fight what big medicine (think AMA here) in cahoots with big pharma created--opioid addiction. Taxpayers are paying the bill and many people are paying with their lives.
Big medicine in cahoots with big pharma created a lost generation of chronically ill children from a reckless, bloated vaccination schedule. Families, taxpayers will be on the hook for billions of dollars and children have had their lives stolen.
So we have the epidemic of autism, and the epidemic of opioid addiction crafted by big medicine and big pharma.
I rest my case.

The world is waking up the the fact that what popular American media doctors like: Sanjay Gupta, Ezik Emanuel, Tom Hotez, are saying about what should be injected or swallowed by American citizens is TOTAL CRAP!

We keep losing periodic wars on drugs as we never seem to attack the root cause – the nation’s dependence on legal drugs. It's a marketing bonanza that's turned America into a medicated mass who've been brain-washed into believing that taking pills will make everything better―even for ailments you might not have. Big Pharma has brilliantly turned the consumer into their very own sales rep. Not only is there a correlation between the amount of money drug companies spend on direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising and the drug brand patients request from their physicians, but the data shows DTC advertising rapidly converts people into patients.
Drug advertising on TV needs to be banned, as it was prior to 1997 when many restrictions on such advertising were relaxed. The U.S. and New Zealand are the only two countries in the world that allow drug advertising on TV. This ill-considered legislation gives Pharma too much power, and they have abused it. Laws must be passed to reign in them. This will be a bitter fight since Pharma has many lobbyists, generously funds most political campaigns and virtually owns big media by contributing 70% of their advertising revenue.

I keep saying we should look at whether some exposures increase susceptibility to this type of addiction (or maybe addictions in general), though the ones at the top of my suspicious list implicate still the medical profession, and the dental profession if they are separate in the minds of most. Something for a long-term vax vs. unvax study for instance.

No mention in the Guardian about how cannabis prohibition, part of the War on Drugs, has helped fuel this disaster.
Cannabis oil is an excellent and, relatively safe, pain reliever. (Though this is mentioned in the article that Hans linked to).
Then there is Trump's ignorant quip about LSD. He is undoubtedly clueless that the psychedelic drugs can also be powerful medicines, when used appropriately, including helping to overcome drug addiction. There is a lot of good research going on right now about the therapeutic value in psychedelics.
Of course, the socialist Guardian loves to blame the profit motive, before begging readers to support its operation. I have some news for you Guardian. If the U.S. allowed for open competition in health care, as it did in the 19th century, we wouldn't have all of these problems with these predatory drug companies. How about complaining instead about how the laws (licensing, patents, and others) and regulations give a legal monopoly to allopathic medicine and its most powerful players? But government employees and their servants in the media would never make such an indecorous statement, because then people would realize who is really to blame for the mess we are in.
