Condolences to Katie Wright and Her Family on the Loss of Suzanne Wright
Suzanne Wright, Mother of AofA Contributing Editor Katie Wright, passed away this weekend following a fight with pancreatic cancer. Please join us in sending thoughts and prayers to Katie, her father Bob Wright, and all of Suzanne's family and friends around the world. This is a time for somber respect and to comfort our friend and fellow autism Mom Katie.
Thank you.
Katie,
My deepest sympathy to you, your father, your siblings, your son and your husband. It is a terrible way to go and I have been thinking of you a lot since I read your mom was diagnosed with it. It is so hard to watch your mother suffer, yet still go on with your life in autism. You are so active in keeping us all up to date on what is going on with AS and the IACC and we appreciate your efforts so much. My mom also had pancreatic cancer and was taken from us much too soon like your mom. It is bad enough to lose a great woman you love and who took care of you, but to lose someone who is such an important part of your child's life is even harder to deal with. I know. I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to you all.

Katie, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I always appreciate your posts so I feel like I know you. There is nothing like the loss of a mother. I hope you find comfort in your memories and reflection on her wonderful life.

Hi Katie-
So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom; please accept my condolences. I followed all your mom's work, and was so impressed at how dedicated she was in trying to help Christian, your family and the whole community. I come from of a family of some influence as well, and my parents had the opposite reaction to my son's autism (they were and are embarrased, he is shunned). So it was all the more meaningful to see your mom embrace, love and fight fiercely for your son. She was a bright light, and will be greatly missed by the community. Sending love and prayers your way.

I am so sorry for your loss, Katie. I think we only truly learn to appreciate our mothers when we become mothers ourselves and see firsthand how challenging it is to be anywhere near as good of a mother as the one we were blessed to be given. When we lose our mothers, we tend to compare our parenting skills to theirs far more often, while simultaneously longing for their continued wisdom and advice, which will only come to us in our daydreams and deep thoughts.
Katie, whenever you feel lost without your mother, look into the mirror and behold the 50% of you that is your wonderful mother, Suzanne, so you will see that she has not really left you, but rather is forever a part of you and who you are as a person.
