The documentary “Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe” arrives here Friday in a firestorm of controversy.
The film, which opens at the Glenwood Arts theater, makes the familiar though widely discredited argument that childhood vaccines contribute to the rise of autism.
It also alleges “a pattern of data manipulation, fraud and corruption at the highest levels of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention),” according to statements in the film by William Thompson, a CDC psychologist involved in vaccine/autism studies.
Thompson’s audio comments, secretly recorded during phone conversations with an anti-vaccine researcher, accuse the CDC of covering up a link between the measles, mumps, rubella vaccine and autism in African-American boys....
“But it’s already the hottest pre-sale ticket we’ve ever had. A week before it opens, the 8:15 Friday screening (was) almost totally sold out — more than 450 of 500 seats.”...
African American boys? Should Robert W. Butler care? Remember Tuskegee? Our health officials have a horrible history of abuse when they've studied black Americans.

Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe Public outcry caused this anti-vaccination position paper to be pulled from the Tribeca Film Festival. But it's still seeing release in some theaters across the country, including our very own Regal Winter Park Village. Autism hoaxster Andrew Wakefield...
I posted a comment that the real COVER-UP was this reporter's write-up.
The movie, which was pulled from this year's Tribeca Film Festival lineup, presents the case, popular among anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorists, that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention covered up data that proved a link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism in small children. Propelling this theory is a study written by environmental engineer and anti-vaccine crusader Brian Hooker, based on data he learned from a CDC insider, William Thompson.
Director Andrew Wakefield (the defrocked British doctor whose discredited 1998 study launched the autism/vaccine nonsense) and producer Del Bigtree, a medical journalist, are two of the talking heads in a presentation whose dullness is interrupted by shamelessly manipulative use of tearful testimonials from parents of kids with autism. The parents' stories pile up, as Wakefield aims to blur correlation into causality and scare viewers into believing in a government/Big Pharma plot.
... The Brits stripped Wakefield of the authority to practice medicine, but there is no license required to make irresponsible propaganda films.
"A link between the... MMR vaccine and autism in small children"? Not mentioning that a major focus of this study was also African American boys is inexcusable. I posted comments.
Oh, Sean, what a sad little "review"! Not one mention that current senior scientist at the CDC and author of the fraudulent CDC study, William Thompson, provided Dr. Hooker with the missing data and agreed with Hooker's re-analysis. That's the kernel of the movie, no?

Peter Dunn, the answer to your question is easy. Last year I was referred to an NHS (UK) dentist, complaining of mercury poisoning, to ask for my amalgam fillings to be replaced. The dentist looked at my list of symptoms (most of which I've had as long as I can remember) and said, "these symptoms could be caused by lots of things." To which the answer should have been, "so why hasn't my doctor been able to find out what, in fifty years?" If they can't give you any alternative explanation, it IS the vaccines!

i am a worried parent with 2 children . my first child is now 6 years old and is autistic . we have had genetic tests done and she is classified as non genetic autism. i also watched my daughter change after her 2nd mmr dose. we now have a 7 month old son and we are concerned about giving him the vaccinations. PLEASE IF THE VACCINATIONS DID NOT TRIGGER MY DAUGHTERS AUTISM . WHAT DID AND WHY CANT THE GOVERNMENTS OF THE WORLD PUT MONEY INTO FINDING A TEST TO FIND OUT WHAT CAUSES AUTISM I AM NOT A PARANOID PARENT BUT TO ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO POUR SCORN ON US PARENTS. HERE ARE SOME FACTS.
1 MY DAUGHTER WAS DEVELOPING PERFECTLY
2 MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT BORN AUTISTIC
FINALLY I HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE GUILT OF PUTTING TRUST IN THE HEALTH OFFICIALS AND MY DAUGHTER NOW LIVES WITH AUTISM.
FINALLY CAN ANYONE BLAME ME FOR BEING CONCERNED ABOUT INOCULATING MY SON.
PLEASE DONT KNOCK US PARENTS FOR BEING CONCERNED . ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS HOW TO SAFELY INOCULATE MY CHILD. THIS IS SADLY A BASIC QUESTION NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO ANSWER. FINALLY WOULD A PROFESSION AGREE TO PUT THEIR SIGNATURE TO A LEGAL STATEMENT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY SHOULD A CHILD DEVELOP AUTISM AFTER HAVING THE MMR OR HEX A VACCINES.

In Zika news today,
PER THE CDC MAP...it looks like the "Zika epidemic mosquito" will NOT CROSS the border into Canada but will somehow go to northern Alaska.
http://www.foxnews.com/health/2016/06/09/cdc-director-funding-delay-hurts-fight-against-zika.html
Perhaps, by mistake... what they have printed is the "sudden Autism Epidemic Map" from 1990, when they added 8 doses of 2 vaccines preserved with mercury and created the first CDC epidemic in 50 states at the same time....

The MMR vaccine is damaging FAR more than just African American boys.

When I read rubbish articles like these, I wonder if the reporters really believe the lies they print. If they do, they are guilty of not doing enough research and, if they don't they are guilty of contributing to the autism/ill health epidemic. Either way, they are guilty!

I'm not totally sure why, but my favorite part of the Salt Lake Tribune review is the leading statement that they are publishing it even though by policy Vaxxed's 4-day run doesn't qualify the movie for a review.

Imagine the angst this rag suffered having to acknowledge .. "it's already the hottest pre-sale ticket we've ever had".
I AM LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!!!
