Tossed from Tribeca But VAXXED is Back: Buy Tickets Today
NOTE: "Banned in Boston!" was a popular phrase about censorship of movies and books in Puritanical Boston into the 20th Century. Looks like Nixed in New York is the new version. Fortunately, we have a solution. See below. Congratulations to the VAXXED team.

From the VAXXED website: To our dismay, we learned on March 26 about the Tribeca Film Festival's decision to reverse the official selection of Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe.
It is important to note that this is not an anti-vaccine movie as it is has been commonly portrayed in the media. Robert De Niro's original defense of the film happened Friday after a one-hour conversation between De Niro and and Bill Posey, the congressman who has interacted directly and at length with the CDC Whistleblower (Dr. William Thompson) and whose team has scrutinized the documents that strongly indicate fraud at the CDC. That is what this film is about.
It is our understanding that persons from an organization affiliated with the festival have made unspecified allegations against the film - claims that we were given no opportunity to challenge or redress. We were denied due process.
We have just witnessed yet another example of the power of corporate interests censoring free speech, art, and truth. Tribeca's action will not succeed in denying the world access to the truth behind the film Vaxxed.
We are grateful to the many thousands of people who have already mobilized including doctors, scientists, educators and the autistic community.
We will be pressing forward and sharing our plans in the very near future.
Onward!
- Andrew Wakefield (Director) and Del Bigtree (Producer)
Taboo at Tribeca!

Tell someone they can't do something and they'll want to do it even more ;)

I think Jeff's comment could very well be the good job the US corporate world has brainwashed the citizens of the US. The US gov't is really great at lying and deceiving its citizens both in medicine and in the military. That's why it takes extra efforts for every one of us to reach out and educate ourselves and then make our own decisions that are not based on government propaganda.

@Reader's post is very concerning. As brilliant as he is, perhaps Dr. Wakefield should not be only scientist on the Q&A panel? Will any of the other scientists in the film be able to participate to take on some of the heavy lift?
And thank you as always Dr Wakefield for doing so yourself for all these years!

Great News. Robert DeNiro has given you wonderful publicity. Here's to your great success with the film!

WOW. Talk about ignorant. I mean you comment. Did you read the heading of the article:

You my friend have had too many shots. You appear to be suffering from brain damage cause by the mercury & aluminum adjuvants.
The public at large would not be going to Tribeca, but they will go to a neighborhood theater to see: Vaxxed!

Just a thought - despite that he has adopted an anti-vaccine route to sustain a platform - for him at this stage there exists no other - I maintain that Wakefield is not anti-vaccine, and that he is sincere in advocating a single measles vaccine.
More to the point, I think it is the likelihood of this that makes him such a particularly despised and feared figure among those vehemently pro-vaccine. The pro-vaccine movement insists that such a moderated standpoint taken on vaccines is untenable. The reason for this is simply that their movement is one of extremism. Hence, the underlying fear of having Tribeca screen the film is as much that Wakefield might appear reasonable and not particularly anti-vaccine as anything else. This phenomenon we're witnessing is summed up by Ortega Y Gasset:
'Unreasonableness is essential to extremism. To wish to be reasonable is to renounce extremism...The history of all forms of extremism is truly sad; it consists in having to go on making pacts with everything which the particular form of extremism under discussion had pretended to eliminate.'

So glad to see Vaxxed being shown. It is important that we be allowed to have a discussion about vaccine safety. The mainstream media has deprived us of this discussion for too long. Avoiding the conversation about vaccine safety does nothing to inspire confidence in the medical/vaccine industry. If anything, it leads me to believe they have lots to hide. I say, let the science speak.

I wonder if the distributor has look into the Dallas Film Festival? Is a lot smaller festival than Tribeca but seems like they don't shy away from showing films and documentaries that could be considered controversial.
A few years back, during that festival, we saw the movie "The Greater Good", also about vaccines and the corruption involved with the CDC.
Also, last year at the Angelika Dallas, we saw the movie "Trace Amounts". The producer of Trace Amounts did a great job promoting the film and touring the country showing it and speaking after the showings. A good grass roots model that perhaps "Vaxxed" could follow as well?

Jeff, try watching the film and perhaps the documentary Trace Amounts so you can then tell your kids you didn't vaccinate in ignorance of the risks (unlike myself). You knew the worst of what was being observed and documented and knew the best countering arguments and made an informed decision, whatever that decision might be.

It would be great if this film was shown in all Angelica theatres in the US. However, I am also ready to buy a video. Censoring films, books, articles and any other documentaries or art forms is pure fascism. This is what the US has been reduced to by mafia oligarchs and their regime agents.

Good on Tribeca. We don't need more ignorant people not vaccinating their kids.

@Bob Moffit,
I haven't seen the film "Concussion", and I guess I should. I hesitated because I felt that it avoids the real issue that we have an increase in post-concussion syndrome. The problem isn't just our thirst for the NFL game that pushes players to suffer repeated concussions with dire consequences. It's much bigger and includes the fact that so many teenagers are suffering post-concussion syndrome from activities we have encouraged for teens for decades -- not just football. I have many friends with typical kids who find that their kids aren't so typical after a couple of mild concussions experienced during the normal life of a teenager. I call it the leaky brain syndrome, and I think it goes hand in hand with the leaky gut syndrome. So whatever causes leaky gut probably causes leaky brain making all these teens more susceptible to chronic problems after mild concussions. Vaccines perhaps? GMOs maybe? Bad gut bugs certainly play a role. I think the movie sold out the NFL to hide the real culprit. They know we'll keep on watching NFL while we debate what should be done. But I really should see the movie to see if I'm wrong about what it highlights.

Notchka @ 112:
The way I’d suggest to do this is, write down your question a few days ahead, and practice reading it until you have it memorized. Then practice saying it in a conversational voice. Do it over and over until you can give a performance worthy of live theater.
The best questions are ones that cause Wakefield to have to put his foot in it bigtime, and make a fool of himself in his own words, rather than rants that come off as attacks that will cause others to sympathize with him as the victim.
For example ask about how those FDA numbers that were used to claim MMR/autism link for black kids, showed no relationship for white kids, so how do you square that with your own data claiming a relationship for white kids?, etc.
It might be useful to have someone in the audience who plays the role of a sympathizer but whose question actually has the opposite effect, for example by pitting various anti-vax factions against each other. “You can’t both be right, so who should I believe?”
With good organizing, you could have a half dozen or more different people at each showing.
It might also be fun to have one very vocal skeptic from the first showing, come to the second, and upon being dis-invited at the door, thereby hand another person the opening to play sympathizer but ask about “censorship just like at Tribeca.”
Think of it as political theater with a live audience;-)

I think .. when all the dust settles .. the inexplicable and completely unwarranted decision .. to remove VAXX from the Tribeca Film Festival .. will eventually serve to FOREVER diminish the hard-earned reputation of the Tribeca Film Festival .. which until now had enjoyed a fairly good reputation for presenting films that dared to raise questions on "controversial" subjects that some powerful interests would prefer be ignored.
Just watched "Concussion" .. staring Will Smith as a courageous pathologist .. who identified Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) .. a condition caused by repeated concussions .. suffered by a growing number of former NFL players who eventually committed suicide.
(By the way .. what happened to the similar study of the brains of children with autism that were mysteriously lost when TWO "fail-safe" refrigerators systems suddenly malfunctioned? Does that study continue today .. or .. was that mysterious "malfunction" enough to stop it forever?)
It is frightening how similar the careers of Will Smith's character and Dr. Andrew Wakefield were completely destroyed .. simply because they dared to raise serious .. scientifically based questions .. regarding injuries suffered after receiving vaccines .. or .. while playing football in the NFL.
Indeed .. the tactics employed to silence both courageous men were eerily similar .. including efforts that successfully demonized both men in the court of public opinion .. where their professional careers and reputations were savagely .. relentlessly .. attacked by "media sock-puppets" .. whose sole purpose was to use both men as "examples" for what awaits anyone who dares challenge the vested interests of the NFL and pharmaceutical cartels.
(I know Will Smith thinks he wasn't nominated for an Oscar because of his race .. but .. after viewing the film .. I now believe Will did deserve at least a nomination .. but .. I believe Will is wrong to claim it was his race that denied him a nomination .. I believe the NFL did not want anything connected to that film to win anything. I believe ANYONE who played Will's character .. such as .. Ben Affleck .. would not have been nominated either.)
In any event .. I think the Tribeca Film Festival deserves to be included among those have shown a willingness to sacrifice their reputations rather than face up to powerful interests that terrify them so.
