Huff and Puff This: 13 Vaccinated Davie NC Students Spread Whooping Cough

Pertussis-vaccine-failureBy Teresa Conrick

From Fox 8 NC:

"DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. – Pertussis – commonly known as whooping cough – is a serious bacteria. It causes spasms of severe coughing, which can cause those who have it to vomit and lose breath. In the worst cases, it can be deadly. In recent weeks, it made its way to two schools in Davie County.

The first case was reported on December 7. Today, the school system reported 13 confirmed cases, 11 in Davie High School, and two in the early college.

“That’s pretty alarming actually, it really is,” said Patrick Jacobs, father of a Davie High sophomore.....The spread of whooping cough is most easily prevented by receiving the DTwP shot. However – and this is particularly troubling – all 13 of the people confirmed to have Pertussis had gotten the vaccine.

“If it’s getting that bad, I think everybody should know, and know the risk, and know everything about it,” said Regina Hicks, mother of a Davie High senior.

...and then a study on this exact phenomenon- but where is the protection, especially when vaccinated people are spreading the disease?

Acellular pertussis vaccines protect against disease but fail to prevent infection and transmission in a nonhuman primate model.

Abstract

Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory illness caused by the bacterial pathogen Bordetella pertussis. Pertussis rates in the United States have been rising and reached a 50-y high of 42,000 cases in 2012. Although pertussis resurgence is not completely understood, we hypothesize that current acellular pertussis (aP) vaccines fail to prevent colonization and transmission. To test our hypothesis, infant baboons were vaccinated at 2, 4, and 6 mo of age with aP or whole-cell pertussis (wP) vaccines and challenged with B. pertussis at 7 mo.....Baboons vaccinated with aP were protected from severe pertussis-associated symptoms but not from colonization, did not clear the infection faster than naïve animals, and readily transmitted B. pertussis to unvaccinated contacts. Vaccination with wP induced a more rapid clearance compared with naïve and aP-vaccinated animals....The observation that aP, which induces an immune response mismatched to that induced by natural infection, fails to prevent colonization or transmission provides a plausible explanation for the resurgence of pertussis and suggests that optimal control of pertussis will require the development of improved vaccines.

The whole cell Pertussis component in the DTwP vaccination has a history of acute brain damage which is why the acelllular version vaccine has become the more popular version.  What parent wouldn't want to reduce risk of a permanent brain damage?  But now, we are seeing that the acellular version does not protect not only the RECIPIENT from Whooping Cough but the BYSTANDERS who can succumb to infection from contact with the vaccinated.

"The other students were immune from serious illness, having all been vaccinated,"

Whooping cough resurgence due to vaccinated people not knowing they’re infectious? clinicalnews(dot)org/2015/06/24/study-whooping-cough-resurgence-due-to-vaccinated-people-not-knowing-theyre-infectious/comment-page-1/. From study/article:

"a detailed epidemiological model of whooping cough transmission to conclude that acellular vaccines may well have contributed to — even exacerbated — the recent pertussis outbreak by allowing infected individuals without symptoms to unknowingly spread pertussis multiple times in their lifetimes.

‘There could be millions of people out there with just a minor cough or no cough spreading this potentially fatal disease without knowing it,’ said Althouse. ‘The public health community should act now to better assess the true burden of pertussis infection.’

What’s worse, their model shows that if the disease can be spread through vaccinated, asymptomatic individuals essentially undetected.

So unless a test was done to determine if the children were immune, it can't be said they were. If they displayed runny noses, congestion, post nasal drip causing clearing of the throat, coughing-but not constantly, sighs of an upper respiratory illness and so forth, those children were infected with whooping cough and were basically asymptomatic. From Pertussis Pink Book -CDC:

-Infection may be asymptomatic, or may present as classic pertussis
-Persons with mild disease may transmit the infection

So it is possible that the other children didn't show signs of being infected because they already were. The Pink book also says that adults will show more signs of being infected than children.

That public health officials have credible reasons to believe someone recently receiving the DTwP can transmit whooping cough to infants .. not old enough to be vaccinated .. the most serious at risk age .. and .. unsuspecting and uniformed adults .. who are unvaccinated .. is as close to being a CRIME as I can imagine.

Worst of both worlds -- so true. I am an elementary school teacher. Eight years ago my husband and I both contracted whooping cough from one of my students who was infected without anyone's knowledge. She was sick, but not sick enough for her mother to take off of work and keep her home from school. So she sat in my classroom and coughed on me and everyone around her all day. The other students were immune from serious illness, having all been vaccinated, but of course I was not immune, and neither was my husband. So, the argument some will make is that we should have been vaccinated too. But to them I would pose the question: What happens to infants, who are the most vulnerable to extreme illness/death with whooping cough but are too young to be vaccinated? They, too, will be exposed to children who are infected without anyone's knowledge. They too will succumb to illness. Everyone always points to vulnerable infants as the reason we should all be vaccinated against pertussis. But that argument falls apart completely with this vaccine, because it increases rather than decreases their risk of infection.

Benedetta, I'm guessing that DTwP is just a way to clarify that he was talking about the old DPT, which used a whole-cell pertussis component, hence the "w" instead of the "a" in DTaP, representing "acellular."

DTP was taken off the market in the US when they replaced it with DTaP.

Benedetta

Jeff C we complain too much and they will bring back the DPT vaccine. Which will end us all.

Yep, Micheal Belkin over at the Refusers has talked about this for years. The acellular pertussis vaccine *may* prevent the recipient from getting the disease but it absolutely does not prevent those exposed from spreading it. This is the absolute worst of both worlds as the contagious don't know they are contagious as they don't have the disease themselves. Nice to see this finally getting some press.

Think about it, the public health and medical establishment blindly demanded (while being egged on by Sanofi Pasteur) all those in proximity to new born infants get the acellular vaccine to "protect" the infant. Cocooning they call it, and you're irresponsible and dangerous if you don't go along.

As this study shows, cocooning with the acellular vaccine is worthless and may even be harmful as those exposed to pertussis have a false sense of security regarding their own ability to spread the disease.

Benedetta

What -- a new form of the combination of pertussis, diphtheria and tetanus.

The DTwP? So how many different kinds of this combinations of this dangerous combo are there?
