Oct 13, 2015, Thom Hartmann: The Union of Concerned Scientists is very concerned about politics
The Union of Concerned Scientists say that they're worried about the political pressure that is undermining scientific research. According to a new report from that group, scientists in all of our governmental agencies feel that political interests get in the way of their research.
One of the study's authors wrote, “Many scientists told us that scientific decisions were being swayed by politics or that political influence inhibited their ability to carry out agency missions.”
That means that agencies like the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have to balance the political ideology of their bosses and colleagues with the need to protect the public from bad food or deadly diseases. . . .
That political pressure has to include the power and influence of the drug industry. There are more pharma lobbyists on Capitol Hill than members of Congress. There is a revolving door between the FDA and the CDC and the companies that they're supposed to be overseeing.
Thom Hartmann needs to be remembered for the coverage he gave to Robert Kennedy, Jr. and his book.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Thimerosal - Let The Science Speak, Part 1
Growing numbers of Americans are refusing to vaccinate their children because they think vaccines are causing autism. But it's not the vaccines that appear to be one cause of neurological disorders, it's something else. Now, a senior CDC vaccine safety scientist has invoked the protection of the Federal Whistleblower Statute, and is claiming that the CDC knew that thimerosal was unsafe, but pressured him to publish studies claiming otherwise.

Obama has shown himself to be completely okay with corruption. America will never vote Democrats in next time. Not the Republicans are perfect either but Trump and Republican Party more so respect individual rights.

This article reminds me of the time when David Kirby gave a reading of his book "Evidence of Harm" in Berkeley and a UC Berkeley student commented that he wanted to use mercury as a research subject. His mentor at the school advised him that that would be a bad idea because he would never get grants with that subject. Unfortunately universities depend on the support of pharmaceutical companies and certain subjects are discouraged from the get-go.

@jeff Yes, I was extremely disappointed with RFK Jr's recent talk. He basically said that it is the thimerosal, and if you take that out they are fine.
This totally ignores the fact that the MMR doesn't have mercury, but causes higher rates of autism in African Americans and Latinos.
Other vaccines without thimerosal have not been studied in terms of their impact on autism, so how can we assume they are safe? Especially when aluminum adjuvant is known to cause brain damage, autoimmune illness, and can trigger severe allergies and chronic illness. We also don't know that the dna/rna fragments in the live virus vaccines are safe, there is evidence that they cause autoimmune illness and cancers. At this point in time, there simply are no vaccines known to be "safe", no vaccines where the risk from the illness is substantially higher than the risk from the vaccine.

https://theintercept.com/2015/10/15/robert-califf-fda/
"Dr. Robert Califf, whose nomination by President Obama to lead the Food and Drug Administration has come under scrutiny over his extensive ties to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, previously directed a business that specializes in helping health care companies hire faculty members and other academic researchers to influence regulatory decisions.
Ethics forms and business incorporation documents show that from 2006 through this year, Califf served as a board member and consultant to Faculty Connection LLC. The company boasts that its team of 'practicing university-based physicians and researchers' provides 'regulatory consulting,' including expertise in FDA briefing reviews and other regulatory submissions to the agency...."

This looks like Kennedy is saying that vaccines DO NOT cause autism. Or just the ones with thimerosal. I don't understand his position on this. So many testimonies of autism immediately after MMR. What does he mean by saying it isn't the vaccines? Sorry but as sure as the sky is blue it is definitely the vaccines. I don't care if people think it's dangerous or not, it is still the truth. Am I misinterpreting his position on this? I'm confused.

Our country will remain at risk of "science" being sacrificed for the benefit of industries and politicians .. as long as the entrenched federal regulatory agencies .. CDC, HHS, FDA, too numerous to name .. continue to be under the control of unelected bureaucrats .. mostly paid industrial lobbyists .. who are all but guaranteed .. as a reward for financial political campaign donations .. a seat at the table when approving nominees to serve as Directors or Chairman of THEIR industry's "regulatory agencies".
Many of these "politically appointed" officials are then further rewarded with lucrative salaries AFTER serving their time as Directors and Chairman in those very same industries.

Question: Is there any Democratic senators at all -- at all that are pro safety - believes what parents have witnessed and telling them?
One?
I am curious about this?
