Just over two-thirds of California adults - and nearly as many parents of public school students - say unvaccinated children should not be allowed to attend public schools, according to a new statewide survey from the Public Policy Institute of California.
The survey comes as a bill to end California's personal belief exemption for vaccines has been passed by the Senate and will be taken up by the Assembly this summer. Each hearing of the bill so far has brought hundreds of opponents to the Capitol.
. . . In general, how safe are vaccines given to children for diseases like measles, mumps, and rubella-very safe, somewhat safe, not very safe, or not safe at all?
Eighty-seven percent of adults and 88 percent of public school parents said vaccines were either "very safe" or "somewhat safe." More than half of respondents were in the "very safe" category. Seven percent of adults said vaccines were "not very safe" and three percent said they were "not safe at all."
Well of course people are going to endorse banning unvaccinated kids from school. All they've heard for the last few months in California have been endless stories about a measles outbreak due to the unvaccinated at Disneyland. (And who exactly was the "Measles Mary" that started this whole thing? No one ever identified the individual.)
Legislators have been thoroughly covered touting their heartfelt concern for protecting California schoolchildren by ending exemptions.
There still are people out there who think the media is actually covering this issue in a fair and balanced manner (that percentage is rapidly declining, by the way).
I'll bet if you surveyed these same people, two-thirds of them would think that all the autism everywhere is the result of "better diagnosing." News stories have made that point over and over.
GOOD JOB, MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA. Your lies/fraud/cover-up are still working.
In a stunning discovery that overturns decades of textbook teaching, researchers have determined that the brain is directly connected to the immune system by vessels previously thought not to exist. The discovery could have profound implications for diseases from autism to Alzheimer's to multiple sclerosis.
"Instead of asking, 'How do we study the immune response of the brain?' 'Why do multiple sclerosis patients have the immune attacks?' now we can approach this mechanistically. Because the brain is like every other tissue connected to the peripheral immune system through meningeal lymphatic vessels," said Jonathan Kipnis, PhD, professor in the UVA Department of Neuroscience and director of UVA's Center for Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG). "It changes entirely the way we perceive the neuro-immune interaction. We always perceived it before as something esoteric that can't be studied. But now we can ask mechanistic questions."
How long will it be before the medical/scientific community addresses address honestly (along with a host of neurological conditions we've somehow learned to live with)? FOR YEARS autism has been this mysterious condition OVERWHELMINGLY AFFECTING CHILDREN that experts tried to convince us was the result of "better diagnosing" of a condition that's always been around.
WHAT IS AUTISM? It's a disorder where children have a lack of communication skills and an inability at social interaction. (And all those annoying problems like seizures, allergies, gut problems asthma---all that is just coincidence.)
And what about the millions and millions of kids out there WHO DON'T HAVE AUTISM BUT HAVE A HOST OF AUTOIMMUNE PROBLEMS? What might all of these kids have in common?
This may be "a stunning discovery," but I'm afraid that it's a little too close to Andrew Wakefield's research and all the parents who say they're kids fell totally fell apart when they after they were vaccinated and descended into autism.

If this bill (SB 277) is really to protect the immune compromised, then why deny a child an education because he/she are not vaccinated against a non-communicable disease. I faxed a letter nearly two weeks ago to every member of the Health Committee in which I listed the vaccines on the list and asked if lack of this vaccine (like hepatitis B) was a good enough reason to deny a child an education.
I think the proponents of this bill are banking on the fact that most Californians don't have a clue it even exists. I say this because this week-end I was in a workshop (totally unrelated to vaccines or even children) and at lunch I asked the table what they thought of denying an education to unvaccinated children. I was shocked when everyone unanimously thought it was a bad idea, unless the state provides vouchers. So if SB 277 does pass then it is going to
be hard to get the public behind forcing kids out of schools with no monetary compensation.

I have never been able to understand how scientists could argue with a straight face that the brain was somehow completely disconnected from the rest of the body. I have a brother with schizophrenia, and I have been truly horrified by the "care" he has received from psychiatrists. They never even bother to examine their patients anymore, and they rarely order any blood work. Once in a blue moon, they might check the TSH, or maybe prolactin levels if they are prescribing anti-psychotics, but that truly is the extent of their interest in what the rest of the body is doing or how it might be affecting the brain. Even when my brother suddenly locked himself in a dark room for three weeks on end -- after seeming better than ever -- his psychiatrist did not order a single blood test. Truly bizarre and sad. Meanwhile, I have been quite certain for some time that he has an immune system disorder -- that schizophrenia, like autism, is in fact an immune system disorder. (My only remaining question is whether they are, in fact, the SAME immune system disorder, arriving at different times in the person's development i.e. childhood vs. adolescence or adulthood) I mean...duh....Finally, somebody somewhere is starting to connect the dots.

"Cause Diptheria is still around -- right?"
I sure am! Thanks!

A lot of recent MS research utilizing real time blood flow images is showing that there could be vascular aspects to MS (there is a normal pressure hydrocephalus) and yes I believe this is a game changer. Yet the people who should be on the forefront of this (the researchers for pharma) will be dragged kicking and screaming before admitting that.

Given how very long it took to determine the mechanism for injection-induced polio provocation (50+ years), it could be decades before this new brain lymph vessel discovery sheds any light on vaccine brain injury. The sad thing is that physicians inferred some sort of injection-induced polio provocation based on clinical evidence decades before the actual mechanism was determined in 1998. In a more common sense era, the wisdom of pediatricians was heeded and vaccination policies were sometimes altered seasonally to accommodate the possibility of injection-provoked polio. Today, pediatricians’ clinical experience is discounted by the “vaccine experts”. Most pediatricians are so brain-washed or fearful that even if they suspect there is a vaccine-autism connection, they will not speak up about it.

Also, thank you for highlighting the U of Va research finding.
So, if part of the lymphatic system is intoxicated by vaccine components will this be another route for substances like vaccine Hg, Al compounds to reach the brain?
If the lymph manufactures antibodies, will the presence of an "adjuvant" (which probably should include ethylmercury) in brain tissue, from whatever route, tend toward production of brain tissue auto-antibodies directly in the brain?

I think this is a let-out for them. They are going to say, "This is something new. We couldn't possibly have known this before." And excuse themselves of liability.

The UVA article on brain lymph vessels is a game changer.
Best take-away quote: “And there’s an enormous array of other neurological diseases, from autism to multiple sclerosis, that must be reconsidered in light of the presence of something science insisted did not exist.”
Poof, there goes the hubristic “implausible mechanism” defense of all those who deny any possible causal link between vaccines and autism/brain injury via the immune system. Imagine that, something existed which science insisted did not exist.
Other great lines…
“There has never been a lymphatic system for the central nervous system…”
“I really did not believe there are structures in the body that we are not aware of. I thought the body was mapped,” he said. “I thought that these discoveries ended somewhere around the middle of the last century. But apparently they have not.”
“As to how the brain’s lymphatic vessels managed to escape notice all this time, Kipnis described them as “very well hidden”
Notice the repetition of “I did not believe” “I did not think” “There has never been”. Is that what we’re going to hear about vaccine brain injury at some future date, after proof of a mechanism? “We just didn’t know, didn’t believe” etc. etc.

Some interesting comments on this piece about VAERS data being scrubbed and the VAERS website being down at the time of the CA Senate vote.

Exactly Kapoore. Many of the diseases are not even communicable or contagious. It's way past the ridiculous point but pHarma is banking on no one questioning them or their paid lackies, like Pan.

I am not sure I believe this poll either. If SB 277 passes we'll find out how the public really feels when school bond issues come up for votes. I know that I won't be voting for the one in my district. Curiously a school fund raiser here failed recently, which in our district is almost unheard of because in the past support for the schools was incredibly high. I am not going to support a school system that discriminates against a child on the basis of religion and philosophical difference. Eventually we'll probably have to go to a voucher system because it is unfair that a child barred from school shouldn't have access to the approximately $9,000.00 cost per pupil. So, again, we face a situation where the media lies and misinformation on this subject will in the end undermine public support for the public schools.

Yes, young teenagers that have not received the tetanus shot should be banned from school cause they could give tetanus to the rest of the school.
Hmmmmm, well really.
They thought about that one and combined the whooping cough and diphtheria in with it. Cause Diptheria is still around - right?
And the whooping cough vaccine - does not work cause there is probably a new strain, or well they really are not sure what is going on - so just better give that vaccine often as possible - that might help keep whooping cough outbreaks down. Never mind it is -- Not probably the most dangerous vaccine out there - well if you don't count the anthrax vaccine - which they would never push on the public -- cause of their kind hearts, no sir 'eeee, cause they could push it off on all the troops .

Twyla, the public is being played and they don't know. If you ask whether kids should be vaxxed to attend public school, I am not surprised that two-thirds would agree. If you ask, however, whether parents should have the final say for medical procedures for their child, I imagine the majority would also agree. That the public cannot think one step ahead is truly fascinating, to say the least.

You statesiders have got to do the work. When I doubted whether unvaccinated kids became autistic I asked every autism parent I knew and then quizzed four thousand more via the internet. I never received evidence of a single case of unvaccinated autism. Nor since, although my claim has received immense publicity. At January 2013 my December blog gave 583,000 results. Where are the unvaccinated autistic kids. Britain has over two million unvaccinated kids why are there no autistic people amongst them? I keep being told about one in particular - ONE! ONE! ONE! There should be thousands!

I have seen surveys where the majority of respondents said that people should have a right to make their own choices on vaccines, but what gets press are surveys were most respondents were anti-choice.

San Francisco: Two-Thirds of Californians Support Barring Unvaccinated Children from Public School
Yes because the media has manipulated them to think in this way . The media has concealed the truth about vaccination at every turn . The media has collaborated and engineered the most heinous pro-vaccination propaganda presenting at nearly all times a false reality about vaccines .
Vaccines are unsafe and ineffective (and that is just the beginning of the story) .
Resist sb277 with every fibre of your being .

I wonder how we get "54% of Californians believe that children have a right to receive a public education regardless of their vaccination status. Only 34% disagree." here:
http://www.canaryparty.org/index.php/the-news/164-poll-shows-72-of-californians-think-parents
and 67% in this week's poll saying children who have not been vaccinated ... "should not be allowed" to attend public school? Do words like "should" vs. "right," and/or maybe inserting some "diseases" in the question tip the answer for that many?
http://www.ppic.org/content/pubs/survey/S_515MBS.pdf (page 13)
I don't know how the Canary Party poll was conducted, but the more recent survey apparently had the two questions nested among several about California issues, but without seeming to provide any context or mention of pending legislation (p. 27, 28). I wonder how many answered "should not be allowed" in context of what would happen in their version of a perfect world, but not necessarily in the context of "should" be forced by a new law (that maybe they haven't heard much about) to get a list of vaccines or be kicked out of public school (an "option" that many anonymous supporters of SB 277 online take refuge in, but one I'm not certain the state really intends to support or even allow)?
Posted by: Jeannette Bishop | June 05, 2015 at 02:13 AM
Very depressing about the idea of banning unvaccinated kids, although I really do not think that children should be required to take vaccines for diseases that are not easily communicated through the air. There is no reason for Hepatitis B (blood), Hepatitis A (tainted food), or tetanus (open wound). I don't really understand what pneumonia vaccination does. I always thought these secondary illnesses were not so much communicated as related to individual vulnerabilities like ear infections, or bronchitis. Basically I think the lawmakers should take the list of ten vaccines and half it. Otherwise it is punishment. There are 225,000 philosophical exemptions and I have a feeling that those coming up through the nursery schools are much larger numbers. One thing is clear to me and that is if a person has stepped over the line into the position of non-vaccination, and discovered life is just easier without a chronically ill child then those kids won't be going to public school. Once you're anti-vax you don't go back. But why not private school. The whole thing is ridiculous.

In other news bOrac drones on about how "white and well to do" persons are the most likely to claim exemptions from vaccines. Very funny that he never mentions that, oh snap, these people may also have the highest education. In fact I just saw two white people speak out against vaccines and, oh snap, they were ex pharma employees. bOrac you are clearly desperate at this point.

So if doctors didn't even know lymph vessels existed, they obviously have based vaccines on an incomplete and inaccurate understanding of the immune system and how it functions in the body. Every California representative needs to know this.
