PLAGUE - Courage is Contagious

SilosBy Kent Heckenlively

There's a Civil War being fought in science over diseases like autism and chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and a lot of people inside the field know about it.

But before I go too far into my argument, I'd like to dispel a misconception spread by our enemies that there is some monolithic entity known as "science."  From what I've been able to determine, science is better imagined as a collection of "silos", separate from each other, and with messages often going back and forth between them, but no sustained contact with the other silos.  Those who live in the silos trust the messages received from the other silos and do not question the messages they receive too deeply.

There is a problem, however.  You see, in order to gain access to your particular silo, each member had to endure a rigorous course of intellectual study, which included the skills necessary for the aggressive questioning of received wisdom.  Once having gained access to the silo, though, they're not supposed to use those same skills on their superiors, or the pronouncements of the superiors of the other silos.

But nobody tells them that directly.

It's only when one of them makes the mistake of asking a forbidden question that they understand the rules have changed.

For many who make that first mistake of asking a forbidden question, there is the all-too-human element of not wanting to upset people you like and respect, as well as to put your position at risk.  Most of those who make the mistake of asking a forbidden question will quickly fall into line and not make that error again.

Then there are those few scientists, like my co-author, Dr. Judy Mikovits, who will continue to ask the questions because that is what scientists are supposed to do.  That's why we wrote the book, PLAGUE - One Scientist's Intrepid Search for the Truth About Human Retroviruses and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Autism, and Other Diseases.  We want to get the information into the hands of those scientists and members of the public who have questions, but are given no real answers.

You see, there's a contradiction in the minds of those scientists who stay quiet.  And it eats at them.  Their training tells them they're supposed to ask questions.  But they know if they do they are inviting trouble. In their education the asking of penetrating questions brought praise, not the threat of retaliation.  It's at that point they realize they've been betrayed by the system.

And so if our armies of truth, standing shoulder to shoulder with those few brave scientists who have had the courage to ask inconvenient questions, do stand at the walls of a citadel as our enemies would have us believe, we do not come to make war.  We come to help them fulfill the ideals they once had of helping humanity.  They may need courage to defy their superiors to do it, but we will help them.  We will give them facts, which may answer their questions, or lead them to pose new ones.  We ask them to rediscover that open-minded spirit of inquiry, which has in the past, exemplified the very best of science.

In our own Civil War, Abraham Lincoln once famously said, "I am a firm believer in the people.  If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis.  The great point is to bring them the real facts."  PLAGUE gives readers facts, most of them from publicly available sources, although I do promise a few surprises!  (It's amazing what prominent government scientists will put in an e-mail that they'd never say in public!)

Dr. Judy Mikovits is one of those brave scientists who wants to follow the truth no matter where it leads, and that is why I HAD to help her tell her story.  She is an example not just of a fine scientist, but of a remarkable human being.  I know her story will inspire many people to seek the truth.

Courage is contagious.  It's like a virus.  And no quarantine can stop it.

While I do believe the tide is turning amongst the public, it will turn much more slowly in the institutions, hospitals, clinics, and nurse practitioner schools. Yes, that's right. Your future health care "doctor" will most likely be a "nurse." And nurse practitioners tow the company line a LOT more than doctors do. They get hammered with drug company propaganda. They want to feel important. They want to "prescribe the pills." And "give the vaccines." And they will take their mandatory employee flu shot with a smile and inject away on their patients.

That's your future, folks. If you think healthcare professionals don't think now (and believe me, most of them don't) just wait. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Soon, if we don't mobilize the general public quickly, we'll all be getting vaccines at the end of a gun.

We MUST stand up and openly support all the brave scientists and whistleblowers out there (hopefully there will be more of them soon)! Whether it's by buying (and sharing) their books, writing letters to officials in power, speaking up publicly at every opportunity, standing up to the doctors who are not protecting our children and supporting the ones who are, posting stories the that the media won't cover on your social media, whatever you can do, it all helps to get the word out. I believe the tide IS turning, and it will eventually be common knowledge that AUTISM IS TREATABLE AND PREVENTABLE. It's too bad we don't have more truly independent medical schools or research facilities where these brave scientists could go to continue their work. Maybe someday (one can always hope, right?!)! Right now, sadly, our "science" has been taken over by those who definitely do not have our best interests at heart. I look forward to reading this!

Great silo analogy. I once attended a summit on toxic heavy metals at which a university toxicology head was questioned about mercury in vaccines. Lacking the requested information he turned to a colleague, whom he confidently referred to as his "mercury expert" -- but she just looked helplessly at him and offered nothing.

They knew their specialties, and they knew the official government party line on Thimerosal, but no one knew the current science of ethylmercury toxicity. And sadly it was not in their best interests to know. How does one fund and support a line of scientific inquiry within universities that holds such devastating implications?

@ Kent and Danchi ..

Kent said:

"There's a Civil War being fought in science over diseases like autism and chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and a lot of people inside the field know about it"

However .. the problems with "science" today are far more troubling than just diseases .. as evidenced by President Obama's ..March 9, 2009 .. "Memorandum for the heads of Executive Departments and Agencies .. Subject: Scientific Integrity" .. which said:

"Science and the scientific process must inform and guide decisions of my Administration on a wide range of issues, including improvement of public health, protection of the environment, increased efficiency in the use of energy and other resources, mitigation of the threat of climate change, and protection of national security.

"The public must be able to trust the science and scientific process informing public policy decisions. Political officials should not suppress or alter scientific or technological findings and conclusions. If scientific and technological information is developed and used by the Federal Government, it should ordinarily be made available to the public. To the extent permitted by law, there should be transparency in the preparation, identification, and use of scientific and technological information in policymaking. The selection of scientists and technology professionals for positions in the executive branch should be based on their scientific and technological knowledge, credentials, experience, and integrity."

Danchi said:

"I've learned over a decade of researching vaccines & drugs that "science" is what the organization/person who paid for the study, research, and conclusion says it is.

I wholeheartedly agree with both Kent and Danchi.

Trust me .. I don't give a damn about the partisan politics of President Obama any more than I care about the partisan politics of former President George W. Bush ..

However .. just saying there is a problem with "scientific integrity" means absolutely nothing to me .. what I care about is BOTH Presidents doing more than "talking the talk" .. I want them to "walk the walk"!

And so .. I ask .. "Does anyone believe "integrity" has been restored to "science" since President Obama's 2009 memo?

In my opinon .. the American people ought not have to question the "integrity of science" .. as a senior citizen .. to hear a President of the United States issued a "memorandum" .. clearly recognizing that "science" needs to have it's "integrity restored" .. is extremely troubling to me.

One more thing and I will stop.

I just reviewed the enormous effort to identify what caused the catastropic failure of the Challenger space ship launch. It is amazing how much time, resources, effort, finances .. scientific collaboration .. were expended to determine why that catastrophe happened .. yet .. we are constantly informed an independent, scientific study of vaccinated v. unvaccinated populations is just too hard to do.

Give me a break .. one quick way to restore "integrity to science" ... would be to DO THE DAMN STUDY!!!!

That's why we have an advantage over "scientists". We don't have to be in the silo in order to talk about the need to know. We can ask uncomfortable questions. That's why the book "The Emperors New Clothes" was written. It is all important to write a book like yours'. I am looking forward to reading it.

Let's hope the Republicans have the courage to not put up with bull regarding our children's health. Nothing less will do at this point. People are fed up with lying and corruption. ESPECIALLY when it comes to our health.

I've learned over a decade of researching vaccines & drugs that "science" is what the organization/person who paid for the study, research, and conclusion says it is.

And it doesn't help that the silos were built with grants from various corporate sponsors.
