The medical community can’t do this alone. Schools must insist that children cannot start kindergarten without being vaccinated. This approach has been phenomenally successful in states such as West Virginia and Mississippi, where there haven’t been measles outbreaks since 1994 and 1992, respectively. State and local governments also need to beef up their education campaigns to dispel the fears that autism and learning disabilities are caused by vaccines. And people will listen to community leaders they trust, including clergy and lay leaders. They must help.

This year, there has been a major resurgence of measles, a dangerous disease that for decades had been virtually unknown in the United States. And it’s become clear that measles has re-emerged as a public health issue in this country because large numbers of individuals remain unvaccinated.

Both the New York Times and the Washington Post slam non-vaccinating on the same day.  The Times trashes Andrews Wakefield and says that UNVACCINATED are coming down with measles AND SPREADING IT TO THOSE WHO CAN'T BE VACCINATED.  Doctors wrote these stories.  VACCINATION IS AN OBLIGATION! 

The Post says that there's no measles in MS and WV because they don't allow exemptions. 

My question for the Post is, When you say that non-vaccinating parents "contribute to the loss of innocent lives"...is that the same as calling them killers---only in a nice way?

The Post also wants clergy to promote vaccines.  "God says you should vaccinate your children." 

U.S. Catholic had a priest telling readers that vaccination was a responsibility in a kind of vague way.

"We are responsible for all people, not just ourselves," Msgr. Jacques Suaudeau, a medical doctor and official at the Pontifical Academy for Life, told Catholic News Service.

That's it folks---if doctors and churches are telling you to vaccinate your kids---What chance do you have objecting? I can imagine Pope Francis getting a flu shot this fall and hearing about it on CBS and CNN.

Legislation sponsored by U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-4th District) that enhances federal programs for families touched by autism cleared the House of Representatives Wednesday night.

The Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education and Support (Autism CARES) Act earmarks $1.3 billion over five years for autism research, particularly for programs to aid people with autism as they transition from childhood into adulthood.

At the same time Age of Autism posts a story calling for changes to the Autism CARES Act because it will continue the federal program that hasn't done a thing to address autism, NJ.com has an article calling for its passage.

And it’s become clear that measles has re-emerged as a public health issue in this country because large numbers of individuals remain unvaccinated. ask Rep Doyle what "tremendous advances in understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder" he's talking about.  This piece doesn't even mention the RATE.  Autism isn't a crisis....it hasn't really increased, and we don't need answers...just transition services.  Good luck with that one. 

UNTIL the states are going broke trying to support one in 68 adults with autism, NO ONE WILL REALLY CARE OR DO ANYTHING.

A study linking pesticides used on farms to children with autism doesn't prove the connection, representatives of families with autism and farmers said Wednesday.

"It's definitely of interest," Jacquie Mace, president of the Autism Society of McLean County, said of the study by the University of California, Davis. "But it doesn't prove a direct link."

We're back to the drawing board it seems. 

And what better voices questioning the link between pesticides and autism than the parents themselves?

There've been other "environmental factors linked to autism, but nothing has been proven, says one autism mom.  Until someone proves something, we should just advocate for services.

While that may sound reasonable, the truth is, NO ENVIRONMENT CAUSE WILL EVER BE FOUND.  Autism is doomed to remain a perpetual mystery---except for the fact that the proof is in on vaccines and autism AND THERE IS NO LINK THERE.

Please notice that whenever the media talks about autism, THERE'S NEVER ANY URGENCY.  It's never a really serious issue.  This article didn't even cite the rate.
