Congressional Hearing on Federal Autism Policy Today

IssaNote: This action alert is from Autism Action Network.

Late Friday Rep. Darrell Issa, Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced a hearing of the Government Operations Subcommittee scheduled for tomorrow on the subject of the Examining the Federal Response to Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The hearing will be held today at 9 am in 2247 Rayburn House Office Building, Tuesday, May 20, 2014. The hearing can be watched via live streaming at http://oversight.house.gov/hearings/

The following witnesses were announced:

Thomas R. Insel, MD, Director, National Institute of Mental Health, Chair, Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee

Michael K. Yudin, Acting Assistant Secretary, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, U.S. Department of Education

Marcia Crosse, Ph. D., Director, Health Care, U.S. Government Accountability Office

No more details have been released.

While we are pleased that some attention will be focused on federal autism policy, we are troubled by the lack of advanced notice and the absence of parent advocates from the invited witnesses.

Please click HERE to send a message to Rep. Issa thanking him for scheduling the hearing, but also requesting the scheduling of additional hearings, announced well in advance, that include parent advocate witnesses so that a thorough examination of federal autism policy is possible.

Please call Rep. Issa at the following number and make the same request:

Rep. Darrell Issa,  (202) 225-3906

Please share this message with friends and family.

Hi Jeff,

Or perhaps we should be asking where the study is, particularly in the light of subsequent events.

It's been almost 6 months since the hearing when Insel said the results of the unvaxed versus vaccinated sibling study would be completed in 90 days. Where are results?

Benedetta,
That's so true about Insel being a quick ducker, that's probably why he was given the job, those people are NOT trying to help prevent autism, they're trying to prevent the public from finding out the cause (Vaccines) and then losing their billions in profit from the vaccines. The government and Big Pharma are in cahoots with each other so much that they are practically the same entity. This clip of Dr.Mercola explains how much they're in bed together, starting at 7:00. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJMISBD_y9Y

Benedetta,
I sometimes understand that the vaccinated/unvaccinated study is complicated by the fact that people who choose not to vaccinate may make many other healthy choices as well (like no junk foods, no antibiotics, organic foods, less tylenol and other drugs, etc), but the study Insel suggests is just as bad. We know that gut bugs play a big role in autism and families share very similar gut bugs. So a sibling with the same gut bugs as his autistic sibling may have a bad reaction to even one or two vaccines because his gut bugs predispose him.

Insel made me sick regurgitating that stupid study about the disorganized cells formed between 12 and 24 weeks of gestation. He said "all" the evidence points to an environmental factor during gestation. I knew they were cultivating that type of "evidence" to justify putting off true vaccine research! Grr.

Benedetta

OH GOD!
At the very end:
Tom Insel is going to do the study on the data collected from 35,000 families with autism vaccinated one kid and not the other.

Senator Posey says a transparent study -- there is no way in HELL that Tom Insel is going to let that study show anything - even the data being put in his hands for seconds -- taints the study as far as I am concerned because I have watched Tom Insel slime, slip in the IACC boxing matches and he is an excellent and quick ducker - and I don't mean quack quack.
