Autism and Dr. Bernie Rimland: Harmful Exposures and Susceptible Children
On July 14, 2003, Dr. Bernard Rimland,
the man who changed the paradigm of autism, from the archaic and psychiatric,
refrigerator families to instead children, who regressed into a medically
treatable neurobehavioral illness -- wrote these words:

THE AUTISM EPIDEMIC IS REAL, AND EXCESSIVE VACCINATIONS ARE THE CAUSE
The vaccine manufacturers, the Center for Disease Control, the FDA, and the
various medical associations have failed miserably in their duty to protect our
children. Rather than acknowledge their role in creating the immense,
catastrophic rise in autism, these organizations have resorted to denial and
obfuscation. They stand to lose their credibility, and billions of dollars in
liability suits will soon reach the courts.
As a full-time professional research scientist for 50 years, and as a
researcher in the field of autism for 45 years, I have been shocked and
chagrined by the medical establishment's ongoing efforts to trivialize the
solid and compelling evidence that faulty vaccination policies are the root
cause of the epidemic. There are many consistent lines of evidence
implicating vaccines, and no even marginally plausible alternative hypotheses.
As the number of childhood vaccines has increased 700%, from 3 in the `70s to
22 in 2000, the prevalence of autism has also showed a parallel increase of
700%.
Late
onset autism, (starting in the 2nd year), was almost unheard of in the
`50s, `60s, and `70s; today such cases outnumber early onset cases 5 to 1, the
increase paralleling the increase in required vaccines.
Thousands of parents report - and demonstrate with home videos -- that their
children were normal and responsive until suffering an adverse vaccine
reaction. (The Autism Research Institute has been tracking such autism-related
vaccination reactions since 1967.)
Mercury, one of the most toxic substances known, is used as a preservative in
many vaccines. Some infants have had 125 times the maximum allowable limit of
mercury injected directly into their bloodstreams, in one day, in vaccines.
(People vary enormously in their sensitivity to mercury, because certain genes
predispose to mercury sensitivity. The highly-touted New
England Journal of Medicine Danish study failed to mention the very
convenient fact that none of the Danish children had prior exposure to mercury,
since Denmark, unlike the U.S. had, banned mercury from childhood vaccines in
1992, the year before the birth year of the children in the study.)
There are numerous scientific studies showing large differences in clinical
laboratory measures of blood, urine and biopsies which compare autistic children
with normal controls. Such findings, pointing directly to vaccines as the cause
of the group differences, are conveniently overlooked by those attempting to
conceal the strong connection between the autism epidemic and excessive use of
unsafe vaccines.
The truth must - and will - emerge. It is long overdue.

I received that statement in an email from Dr. Rimland. I had never met
him personally but he had read a post from me as many of us, parents, were in
yahoo groups back in the late 90's and into the new millennium. We were
searching for answers on how to help our very sick kids who had been diagnosed
with the DSM word – AUTISM. I had shared how my daughter, Megan, born in
1993, had begun to speak and then gradually stopped before her 2nd
birthday. She also had many illnesses and behavioral changes: throwing
up, diarrhea, rashes, fevers, banging her head, no eye contact, appeared deaf,
happy to sad, outgoing to shy, began obsessive behaviors and then -- was
gone – but to the doctors - it was simply an autism diagnosis.
She became a crying child who treated us like strangers – all of this after vaccine, after vaccine, but then horribly after her MMR vaccine. Her sensory system was on overload and she kept her fingers in her ears constantly to dull the noises of the world. We were to eventually find out that Meg had some GI issues that I thought would be easy to fix and get her back to the happy child she had been. Testing showed that Meg had in her stool, excessive Candida - yeast overgrowth; an intestinal protozoan parasite infection, Giardia lamblia; and another parasite infection, Blastocystis hominis. It would take 18 months to see any improvement in her health, but little did I know that those infections and many more to come would be the horror of Megan’s autism diagnosis, as well as its epicenter. She was soon to become a victim to constant Strep and Clostridial infections accompanied by bizarre behaviors. Her immune system became worse and worse – seizures appeared at age sixteen and then an autoimmune diagnosis at eighteen. Autism for us was not a gift of super skills or deficit social issues but a life and death tightrope, as infections and a sick immune system ruled Meg’s world.

Rimland called me one evening in that July of 2003 and asked if I would attach
his statement to any letters/emails that I might send out regarding
Megan. I was grateful for that call and told him I would gladly help
spread his statement. I thanked him for all that he had done and was continuing
to do for so many ill children. Bernie died three years later but not before he
made it clear that his research and contact with thousands of families showed
that there was a connection to vaccinations and autism.
In 2002, a year before the above Rimland statement was born, this comprehensive
article from Dr. Rimland and Dr. Woody McGinnis was published. Many
connections that we now see more clearly today, in 2013, were brought to light
by these two observant researchers over ten years ago:

vaccines in autism.”
"Vaccinations may be one of the triggers for autism. Substantial data demonstrate
immune abnormality in many autistic children consistent with impaired
resistance to infection, activation of inflammatory response, and autoimmunity.
Impaired resistance may predispose to vaccine injury in autism."
"Impaired resistance to infection and autoimmune diathesis may provide
fertile ground for vaccine injury, and these conditions may exist prior to both
vaccination and the onset of autism.....Intravenous immunoglobulin treatments
have benefited autistic children both with and without IgG subclass deficiency,
perhaps by countering infections or autoimmune processes.4"
"We postulate that thimerosal in vaccines may cause direct neurotoxic,
immunodepressive, and autoimmune injury resulting in either early-onset or
regressed autism. Further, we submit that
MMR (usually at 15 months) may result in chronic infection of the gut by
vaccinial measles, and trigger regressed autism.....Autoimmune injury to both
gut and brain is suggested in autism."
"Either the poor immunity seen in children with more severe recognized
reactions to vaccines is an antecedent marker for such reactions, or immune
impairment follows vaccination. Neither possibility is comforting when we know
that immune impairment of autistic children exists after vaccination."
"The profile of immune depression in mercury exposure parallels specific
abnormalities in many autistic children... We hypothesize that increased risk
of chronic measles infection complicating MMR in a subgroup of children with
common variable immunodeficiency or selective deficits, particularly if these
immune deficits are superimposed on subclinical nutritional deficiencies or
other vulnerabilities. Recognition of such a vaccine-injured subset of children
would be more difficult if the infection is latent, or in the case of a
neurobehavioral syndrome such as autism, outside the brain"...
"In many respects, the autistic immune profile fits the diagnostic
category of common variable immunodeficiency (CVID)... Autism may very well be
nature's way of demonstrating a subgroup of CVID children vulnerable to vaccine
injury. Current official vaccination guidelines do not exclude CVID children
from usual vaccination, but we think this needs refinement. We call for
well-funded prospective studies by individuals without conflicts of interest to
determine immune, autoimmune, gastrointestinal, and long-term neurobehavioral
effects of vaccination, particularly in relation to immune, gut, and
nutritional status before and after vaccination..."
"Development of screening methods for deferral of vaccines in at-risk
children is a worthy goal."
"Long-term prospective studies of the behavioral and neurodevelopmental
effects of vaccination do not exist."
There has been more research since 2003 on the neurodevelopmental effects of vaccination.
I'll list some here and appreciate anymore papers, studies, articles, thoughts
and opinions any of you can add that reflect what Bernie Rimland questioned
regarding vaccines, autism, regression and immune abnormalities. Those
questions would be – What are the subtle and acute mechanisms that can cause
kids to regress into autism? Can we develop screening methods to
determine which babies should not be vaccinated? Which immune treatments
will help children diagnosed with autism? Can regression be stopped
before an autism diagnosis?
Hepatitis B triple series vaccine and developmental disability in US
children aged 1–9 years
"This study found statistically significant evidence to suggest that boys
in United States who were vaccinated with the triple series Hepatitis B
vaccine, during the time period in which vaccines were manufactured with
thimerosal, were more susceptible to developmental disability than were
unvaccinated boys."

"Findings suggest that U.S. male neonates vaccinated with the hepatitis B
vaccine prior to 1999 (from vaccination record) had a threefold higher risk for
parental report of autism diagnosis compared to boys not vaccinated as neonates
during that same time period."

Italian Court Rules MMR Vaccine Caused Autism: US Media Blacks Out Story
“Valentino Bocca was given the MMR vaccine when he was 15 months old in 2004. The family has stated that immediately after the jab their son began showing signs of serious discomfort. The Bocca family decided to act and took the case to court. Judges determined the vaccine did cause the autism after new evidence was presented and awarded the Bocca family 174,000 euro (£140,000) after the Italian Health Ministry conceded the MMR vaccine caused autism in their nine-year-old son Valentino. After the ruling, Italian lawyers began examining around 100 similar cases which they believe could lead to more families pursuing court cases”
Developmental Regression and Mitochondrial Dysfunction in a Child With Autism
"Within 48 hours after immunizations to diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis; Haemophilus influenzae B; measles, mumps, and rubella; polio; and varicella (Varivax), the patient developed a fever to 38.9°C, inconsolable crying, irritability, and lethargy and refused to walk. Four days later, the patient was waking up multiple times in the night, having episodes of opistho-tonus, and could no longer normally climb stairs. Instead, she crawled up and down the stairs. Low-grade intermittent fever was noted for the next 12 days. Ten days following immunization, the patient developed a generalized erythematous macular rash beginning in the abdomen. The patient’s pediatrician diagnosed this as due to varicella vaccination. For 3 months, the patient was irritable and increasingly less responsive verbally, after which the patient’s family noted clear autistic behaviors, such as spinning, gaze avoidance, disrupted sleep/wake cycle, and perseveration on specific television programs. All expressive language was lost by 22 months."

There are no known pharmacological treatments that stop SIB. ER docs are still using antiquated methods to treat acute behavioral meltdowns in autism without doing proper assessments to identify underlying medical or pain related issues causing extreme self injurious behaviors (SIB). Instead,, these so called professionals rely on barbaric things like 4 point restraints and antipsychotics to quell an episode of increased SIB, often causing more harm to the patient. Nobody seems to be able to deal with this reality in research.

Although I have know for quite a while that anti-fungal therapies had often been helpful for some w/autism, I never quite looked into the details. I am almost done w/a book on candida and chronic candidiasis, but it's an old one. Despite it's age, it is mind boggling how many different ways a deep rooted candida infection can f* up the body, so Teresa, and others who have tried to bring this monster under control, thank-you for fighting the good fight! Even the multiple ways that could prevent nutrition & enzymatic action is staggering, and maybe somehow fits into the scope of what the doctor whom Dan Burns recently interviewed is saying.

With what is has been known about candida for a while, combined with what is known now about epigenetics, is there any specific research also about susceptibility to vaccine injury in babies who are born to parents who may have, themselves, be suffering from un-diagnosed candida infections. And no, I'm not doing the "blame the parents" game here, just wondering if testing for a candida infection in the parent & treating it would reverse any epigenetic switches coded for autoimmune/immune dysfunction in the baby and maybe start making some headway into decreasing the risk to babies whose parents are still dumb enough to think vaccines are safe. Could it become part of a prenatal protocol. (or maybe it already is, somewhere?)
Also, could it become part of a screening process in newborns, i.e., 1. no vaccines allowed until baby achieves a certain level of nutritional compliance, and 2. passes a candida screen, and 3. an auto-immune marker test.
I know this doesn't make things easier for those already suffering, but maybe it could prevent some suffering.

Dr. Rimland seems to be one of a few amazing individuals remarkably open to the truth and straightforward in passing it on. I was thinking the past few days what IACC meetings would be like if someone like Dr. Rimland was at the head--maybe produce a ream of truly beneficial research and funding recommendations the NIH would tie itself in knots over trying to justify dismissing.

GSK is one corrupt company and guess who is connected to GSK? Rupert Murdoch whose son James sat on the baord at GSK CHina headquearters. GSK bribery is likely why our kids got so sick from vaccines..80% drug ingredients sold in the US are manufactured in India and China. Drug makers in China are notoriously corrupt. Bribery is common.

We need more men like Dr Rimland who boldly speak the truth. THE main cause of autism is vaccines and the mercury they contain. There are other contributing factors. But that is the main event.

This is one parent who knows that my child was poisoned, on purpose. And the system which supposedly exists to protect children... has chosen to protect their poisoners instead.

China has accused GlaxoSmithKline of behaving like a criminal "godfather", bribing doctors with cash and sexual favours in return for prescribing the British pharmaceutical company's drugs.
Chinese police have detained four senior Chinese GSK executives as part of an investigation which stretches back to 2007 and involves deals worth 3bn yuan (£320m).
The Chinese investigator leading the inquiry said the head of GSK's Chinese operations, Mark Reilly, a British national, had left the country on 27 June and had not returned.
Gao Feng, the head of China's fraud unit, said: "We found that bribery is a core part of the activities of the company. To boost their share prices and sales, the company performed illegal actions."
GSK is alleged to have used a network of more than 700 middlemen and travel agencies to bribe doctors and lawyers with cash and even sexual favours.
In a rare public briefing to reporters Gao added, in a clip recorded by a Daily Telegraph reporter: "There is always a big boss in criminal organisations and in this case GSK is the big boss. In order to win the favour of GSK, some travel agencies don't just offer money to their executives, but also sexual bribes."
GSK said it was "deeply concerned and disappointed" by the allegations and said it would co-operate fully with the Chinese authorities. However, Gao said the Chinese investigators had yet to receive any information from GSK's British headquarters.
"This is a very serious violation and a high profile case – we are wondering why we have not received any information," he said. "As for the chief of the China business, you better ask him yourself why he has left China and is not willing to return so far."
Gao said the Chinese authorities had not prevented Reilly from leaving the country, but added that the Chinese police were "willing to work closely with our overseas partners to fight this serious crime".
Chinese newspapers said travel agencies working for GSK would invent meetings that required travel, but use the money to bribe doctors to prescribe GSK drugs. "Each doctor had a credit card from the company. The kickbacks were transferred to the cards the day after the drugs were prescribed," one newspaper alleged.
GSK, Britain's biggest drug company, said it had stopped using all of the travel agencies identified by the Chinese police. "We have put an immediate stop on the use of travel agencies that have been identified so far in this investigation and we are conducting a thorough review of all historic transactions related to travel agency use," a spokesman said.
"We are deeply concerned and disappointed by these serious allegations of fraudulent behaviour and ethical misconduct by certain individuals at the company and third-party agencies. Such behaviour would be a clear breach of GSK's systems, governance procedures, values and standards. GSK has zero tolerance for any behaviour of this nature."
The company said it shares China's desire to "root out corruption": "These allegations are shameful and we regret this has occurred."
Last week, GSK said a four-month internal investigation into its Chinese operation had found no evidence of bribery or corruption of doctors or officials.
Gao said the GSK inquiry could be extended to other foreign drug companies. "We have also found some clues of illegal money transfers involving other foreign companies," he said.
"I need to remind foreign pharmaceutical companies that because they occupy a leading position in the industry and reap huge amounts of commercial profits, they should also bear a great responsibility to society and the public. While we don't expect them to set a moral example, we expect them to obey the law."

The autism issue is being obfuscated so that we are going round in circles. The deniers (Insel for one) tell so many lies that only those who study the issues carefully can hope to know there is PROPAGANDA about.
Benedetta mentions how politicians cum medical types have the power to prevent proper research and convince the public we are not worse off today healthwise. We are of course! And its getting worse by the day!
The USA 2013 shorter lives poorer health from the heart of top authority and USA science shows we are in a mess and everyone will soon catch up USA in being like this.
Is it GMO? Is it vaccines? Is it not controlling industries eg nuclear for example Fukushima/Chernobyl and 100 of either lesser incidents or ones successfully covered up. Its a mix of everything we do almost without exception.
But many have for a long time noted other health issues increasing with vaccine use that are worth looking at too, to help push the autism-vaccine link that has got stuck for 15 years or 35 years depending on when the people got involved.
Probably longer for Bernard Rimland?
Have a look at the issues of TYPE 1 DIABETES.
There are 1 million plus in USA alone and no doubt of who has it! Take insulin or die! The cause is likely to be the same or very similar.
So working with this will actually be of great assistance to autism research.
And unlike autism which affects the under 6 months (including in the womb cases from parents vaccines!) we can get teenagers getting SUDDEN TYPE 1 DIABETES immediately after a vaccine and any vaccine! Typically this occurs in about a fortnight so that the coincidence gets even more monotonous when someone has been well for 14 years and then gets diabetic in 0.04 years after a vaccine.
Likely to be the blowing up of the soft organs and then non-recovery and loss of insulin production for LIFE.
There is a need to look at parallel cases where we dont have to wait 15 years to find for example the definitive data for autism in the year 1998 but only by 2013. This is too long to see what is going on.
Examination for instance of sudden diabetes after HPV vaccines could be predicted and this harm correlated to harm to the one day babies head which at this age is soft like a teenage girls pancreas!
Recent research has exposed the myth that sudden increased head sizes for babies after vaccines is BENIGN.
Its looking like the idea you can blow up babies heads and expect no neurological change has been vaccine propaganda for 200 years or whenever time the vaccine experts admit or admitted it occurs AND it is not benign.

But I suppose by 2006 when Rimland died we were already pretty much where we are now. We'd already had the IOM stitch up, the Pretend Combatting Autism Act (as he pointed out), the Wakefield stitch up was well on its way, and even he could not make any difference to the vaccine bandwagon. The world found Offit and the medical bureaucrats credible.

It is sad that despite honest people we are still living in a more corrupt world than when he was alive.
Charles Richet et al showed the damaging effects of vaccines back around 1903 and got his gong for the work.
In 1913 we are in many countries FORCING people to get vaccines whether they want them or not.
Get a measles vaccine and then lose your certificate and its simple - you never did get one and anaphylaxis may be almost guaranteed by those that give us another SHOT:
No common sense given to us
AND
AUTISM
AND
TYPE 1 DIABETES
AND
SUDDEN DEATH
AND
MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
AND
ARTHRITIS
As the unwanted gift of Big pHARMa.
Autism then is not the only downside to vaccines.
And while the vast majority GET AWAY with their insulting vaccines:
We have a million TYPE 1 Diabetes in USA alone that arent up for discussion:
But are up from the near zero levels before vaccines were in use.
And thats quite a long while back.

...That date was about 6 months before our son's two-dose mercury flu shot that put him over the edge. Of course, we had no idea of what was involved at that time.
Even TODAY it would be difficult for a parent watching the mainstream news, to pick up anything other than the Dr. Nancy hype of "study after study" have proven vaccines to be safe and not a cause of Autism.
As there is no "Autism Gene" there is little hope in ending the epidemic except with the internet & e-mail with the hope public figures out they have been lied to for 20 years.

Very interesting. I had not been as aware of the fact of the birth year of the children (/93) referenced in the "Danish Study" having missed out on the mercury. The 700% parallel increases he noted were very simply and effectively put. He was one of the good guys, that's for sure.

As it happens, in reality - our perception / the truth - are rather flexible, and the means by which - we are defined - individually and as a society at large .
The critical role that - stone tablets / medieval plays / newspapers / television / internet - have in construction of our ' inner - perceptual / conceptual - landscape becomes ever more - insidious / morally - difficult .
What you wonder has such to do with - Autism or vCJD - everything and nothing as they say .

Whether exposure to lead is what really causes the symptoms to appear or whether the exposure exacerbated an existing condition is a moot point when you consider the power of sensory enrichment to strengthen the brain against neurological challenges. In studies, rodents exposed to such challenges and then exposed to Sensory Enrichment functioned better than rodents without such exposures, even when they started without challenges. It is well explained in this recent study out of UCI.

Tom Insel addressed this guys in a IACC meeting over a year ago.
That when we had infectious diseases there were many that had mental retardation.
As a true politician that he is; the way he worded it could be taken several different ways.
Vaccine againest disesases did not retardation away.
And his meaning:
These kids were always doomed , if they had had a disease instead of a vaccine they would have still had mental problems. Get over it parents, get on with your life -- at least you did not have to miss work when they had one of these childhood diseases. And the rest of the parents whose kids did just fine with vaccines did not have miss work either.
That is what I thought he meant.
Of course he could have meant that something else besides an infection drives this kind of reaction. If I wanted to give him any slack.
Well I don't - cause it is not just about autism - now it is.

Good work, Teresa. Rimland spoke plainly, and the more recent research backs him up.
Here's another Rimland revelation - a wake-up call - the so-called lost book: "Dyslogic Syndrome: Why Millions of Kids are Hyper, Attention-Disordered, Learning Disabled, Depressed, Aggressive, Defiant, Or Violent -- and What We Can Do About It."

God bless Dr Rimland .. he did his best and our world would be a much better world had his voice been heard by those who chose instead to ignore him .. so they could continue spewing what has proven to be .. an obscene chant .. "the benefits of vaccines far outweigh the risks".
It is my personal belief the glowing "benefits" they speak of .. are their own professional reputations and personal lucrative financial gains .. while the "risks" to the public health .. grow more and more dangerous .. with each passing day.
