Great point John. I think the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 set the stage for this disaster. I also think the act is unconstitutional as it's very existence denies our children the right to life, liberty and happiness which American citizens are guaranteed by the Constitution. Constitutional law is suppose to be the prevailing law in the US. I wonder if anyone has challenged the constitutionality of the NCVI act? I think it's time for a congressional review don't you?

The thimerosal story is just indicative of the problem - it is is both very bad in itself and an expression of the debauching of institutional standards. I am publishing more on the thimerosal scam tomorrow but the story we have about Prevenar13 today is just as bad. In the end it is not one thing or the other it is the entire cynical, slovenly, rapaciously greedy culture. No doubt the biggest Trojan horse in all of this (with global ramifications) was National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, because when the US market was sewn up they could do almost what they liked anywhere, and the system was designed for abuse with global rubber stamp committees endorsing the latest products - discounting all the adverse evidence and insisting always on their philanthropic motives.

I agree Benedetta. While I don't think Thimerosal belongs in vaccines, I think there are a combination of other factors including the number of shots children are given today, sensitive subpopulations who are not being prescreened, manufacturing of active ingredients and poor quality control of overseas drug plants. The US gets 80% of the active ingredients in drugs from manufacturers in India and China. Added to all this is a health care system and media who are largely who are controlled by Pharmaceutical industry and a government who turns a blind eye to one of the worst public health crisis in history.
There is more to this than Thimerosal.

When reviewing this paper published by British industrial scientists (Andrews et al 2004 at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15342825 ) the first and foremost goal is to find industrial scientist fudge factors. Having just reviewed this it is evident that one significant fudge factor is that the 103 children that were excluded from the final analyses were also the children exposed to higher levels of Thimerosal at an earlier age:
“Children were also excluded when they received either hepatitis B or influenza vaccination in the first 6 months of life because such children are likely to be an atypical subgroup.”
Even so, even when these British industrial scientists used a fudge factor like this, even then the statistical “signal” does not go away for neurological damage, a.k.a. tics. And we have been provided solid statistical evidence of neurological damage to children from Thimerosal (a mercury based vaccine preservative).
And finally this paper confirms that the fudge factored study by another group of industrial scientists, some who were CDC scientists at the time, Verstraeten et al (see reference 13 in this AAP document) also shows that the statistical “signal” won’t go away for neurological damage--again for tics.
Who in their right mind would give children a neurotoxin and claim they can only see a cause of neurological damage in terms of increased incidence of tics? What is next, giving Thalidomide to pregnant women again because industrial scientists fudge factor the damage down to missing hands? This is insanity. Mercury kills brain cells.
Congress has to intervene immediately and ban mercury from all vaccines. Everyone please write your elected members of Congress.

So far: I found out that Eli Lily invented it.
I notice that General Electric manufactures it.
I also noticed on a U tube - the viewer was shown a box of Thimerosal and it had the name Union Carbide on it.
Union Carbide has had their problems - an accident that claimed 3,800 people in Bhopal a town in India. Union Carbide was finally bought by Dow Chemical.
Yet, I think that Thimerosal is just the tip of the iceberg on vaccine dangers.
I think they are fiddleing with the amount of the Diptheria toxin, the petussis toxin, the tetanus toxiod and the mumps amount - pushing them up and then seeing the effects and lowering it back. Well the literature and from their own mouths at these conferences they are saying that is what they have been doing.
We are not lab rats.
Those stories of mad scientist - those horror stories of one lone scientist in some big castle is nothing compared to lots of scientists in a room talking like this.
and then of course the other stuff like MSGs found in all food.
By freedom of information act - the release of the Health and Human Services meeting on aluminum conference of 2000 - they said during that meeting that aluminum was turning into da ja vu from the mercury conference they had held the year before.
That had to be 1999.
So the conference the CDC had at Simpson wood was a whole year later --- as one CDC official ran out of the room to call his son to warn him not to let thier baby being born that very minute to get a Hep B.

Drug ingredients made in China entering market with little oversight

SHANGHAI/LONDON — Philippe Andre, a detective in the murky world of Chinese pharmaceuticals, has some alarming tales to tell. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer Boris Sapozhnikov looks at counterfeit drugs seized by the agency on Aug. 15 at its offices at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.
In May last year, he visited a factory an hour outside Shanghai that supposedly produced a pharmaceutical ingredient. While shown around by men wearing protective clothing and spotless hard hats, Andre noticed oddities: the floor was immaculately clean and some workers sat around idle.
The factory had an inspection log that spanned eight years with perfect record-keeping, but the handwriting was the same for all those years and not a single page was dog-eared. What's more, while the factory had equipment to dry its product, there were no connecting pipes to funnel steam or waste gases out of the plant.
"Obviously the product was not made there," said Andre, a Belgian who runs a pharmaceutical auditing firm in the eastern Chinese city of Tianjin that advises foreign drug companies buying ingredients in China. The building, he says, was just one of the "showroom" factories intended to disguise China's thriving industry in substandard and counterfeit drugs.
Four years ago, Beijing promised to clean up its act following the deaths of at least 149 Americans who received contaminated Chinese supplies of the blood-thinner heparin. But an examination by Reuters has found that unregulated Chinese chemical companies making active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) are still selling their products on the open market with few or no checks.
Interviews with more than a dozen API producers and brokers indicate drug ingredients are entering the global supply chain after being made with no oversight from China's State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), and with no Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification, an internationally recognized standard of quality assurance.
"There is falsification of APIs going on, we know it," said Lembit Rago, coordinator for Quality Assurance and Safety in Medicines with the World Health Organisation (WHO). "The regulated markets like Europe and the United States are relatively safe because they have well-resourced regulatory authorities. But the situation is different in places like Africa, where there are a lot of local medicine manufacturers who all use APIs from China."
The export of unregulated drug ingredients may be putting lives at risk, particularly in poor countries where local pharmaceutical controls are minimal. Medicines containing faulty active ingredients or the wrong dose do not work properly and can contribute to the emergence of drug-resistant strains of dangerous diseases, such as malaria.
'Crime against public health'
"We see this as a global crime against public health," said Edward Sagebiel, a spokesman for Eli Lilly and Co., a multinational pharmaceutical company that says it imposes high standards on its own products, but has seen the unauthorized production of the active ingredients for its drugs by unsupervised Chinese firms. "Because these bulk chemicals are unregulated, they are inherently unsafe."
China's dominant position in the global market for pharmaceutical ingredients makes the issue both pressing and hard to tackle.
"Illegal ingredients in bulk are a big problem, but nobody talks about it," said Guy Villax, chief executive of Hovione, an API supplier based in Portugal with factories there and in China, the United States and Ireland.
About 70 to 80 percent of all active drug ingredients — the biologically active component in medicines — originate in China and India, estimate industry experts, with China accounting for the lion's share. Its export market in these products is worth $22 billion in annual sales,

Yes, The CDC emails that were obtained by the Freedom of Information Act reveal a cover-up. Verstraeten is explicitly talking about thimerosal mercury dose in terms of micrograms of mercury and age of exposure--all in relation to effects of neurological injury.
All of the industrial scientists, along with CDC scientists, have fudge factored the data so that the public is led into thinking it is known to be safe to inject 25 micrograms of ethyl mercury into a human being. It is not known to be safe.
In fact these admissions of evidence of vaccine mercury dose and exposure age related to neurological injury do not support the IOM conclusions about "the weight of evidence" not supporting an association. The emails support an association between exposure and neurological damage from Thimerosal in vaccines.
Please write letters to your Senators and Representative and tell them to introduce and support legislation to ban mercury in all vaccines and ban export of mercury in vaccines as well. All the children around the world deserve better treatment than injection with a heavy metal (Hg) for the sake of profits for the vaccine manufacturers.

There was lots of studies that involved different amounts of dosages.
Jim Thompson -- I thank you very much for for the summary and the quote. It almost sounds like Liz thinks so much mercury is nessacary for the correct development in a four month old, and the more the better.
Dr. Stroller explained the amount of "trace" in a U tube-- apparently trace is still a lot??
I am bewidered at the push for flu vaccines.

Many points to make but an important one is that the Andrews study made a false comparison between exposure on the UK schedule and the WHO schedule (unfortunately some errors have occured on the script on the link which I hope to try and correct):
"In the United Kingdom, the only vaccine that contains thimerosal and has been used routinely in the infant immunization program in the past 2 decades is diphtheria-tetanus-whole-cell pertussis (DTP) vaccine or diphtheria-tetanus (DT) vaccine and any combination vaccine that contains DTP or DT. These vaccines all contain 50 μg of thimerosal (25 μg of Hg) per dose. No other thimerosal-containing vaccines have been given routinely to United Kingdom children, so the cumulative Hg exposure by age can be readily obtained from the number of doses of DTP- or DT-containing vaccines given. Because the United Kingdom changed to an accelerated 2/3/4 month DTP immunization schedule in 1990 (replacing the former 3/5/10 month schedule) and because vaccinations are generally given on time in the United Kingdom, a substantial proportion of children in the GPRD cohort will have had a cumulative Hg exposure of 150 μg of thimerosal (75 μg of Hg) by 4 months of age. This level of Hg exposure, although lower than the maximum of 187.5 μg received in the United States by 6 months of age, is similar to the level received by ∼3 to 4 months of age in the United States. It is also the same as the amount of thimerosal used by developing countries that follow the expanded immunization schedule."
But in fact at the time infants on the WHO schedule were receiving in the first three months what a US infant was receiving in the first 6, and this was nearly 4 times as much as on the UK schedule up to 3 months. You can also read here about the ultra-stupid thimerosal study that the CDC commissioned from Italy, and you can see reproduced the email from Verstraeten to Chen pointing out that the British data was unsuitable for use in relation to the WHO schedule before the go-ahead for it was finally authorised, apparently by the CDC. A further problem was that the British were perpetually getting their figures muddled (weight of thimerosal as against inorganic mercury?) and thought the mercury exposure was double what it was in fact. If you look at the table in the document reproduced on CHS the weight is actually for inorganic mercury not ethyl mercury as labelled (they are supposed to be chemists but they just can't get it right!)
Well, it is Christmas, and it is scarcely the time for action but I hope people with be writing to their congressmen in the new year.

PS Some other issues:-
-The authors failed to include the introduction of MMR as a confounder
-While a straight comparison was being made between the WHO and UK schedules many children who were getting single vaccines may have had much higher exposure
-The GPRD database, whch was used for many related studies, had only very poor data, as Verstraeten complained. In fact, the autism rate in the study was ~1 in 1000, so most of the autistic cases would have been included among the non-autistic cases
-Brent Taylor, who is listed as senior author, did not disclose that he sat on the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, which was responsible for the policy

The US industrial scientists, the British industrial scientists, and the CDC scientists are all hard to tell apart. They all work together to take the statistics that show brain injury from Thimerosal preserved vaccines and then they fudge them away.
Adding to that, in the United States we have Diana Schendel, a CDC scientist and employee of the Department of Health and Human Services, and Poul Thorsen, an industrial scientist and the number one most wanted by the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services (Thorsen is probably in Denmark now), co-authoring a paper (2012) with a CDC scientist in the US.

Look at John Stone's three part investigation published in Red Flags 1-6 February 2006 (in quotes below) that support the statement (in brackets).

They originally told me that the whole cell DTP we used on its own from 1990 (when we adopted our accelerated schedule) up to 1992/3 contained 100 micrograms thiomersal, so exposure to ethyl Hg would have been 150 micrograms by 4 months. We then started using combined DTP/Hib vaccines for which the thiomersal content apparently was 50ug/dose. The authority is now saying that they have made a mistake and the vaccine we used up to 1992/3 only contained 50 micrograms thiomersal/dose. If this is true, then do we have sufficient exposure to ethyl Hg by 4-6 months of age to pick up an effect? Do I have to give my GPRD grant money from WHO back?...Liz’ ”

Hi Jim,
As we know Chen is still at the CDC, Verstraeten retreated to a job with GSK in Belgium having carefully covered tracks over fraud in his thimerosal paper, and I am sure the authors of this paper are still working for the British state.
In my opinion the Andrews study should be as notorious as any of the others: in inception, design and execution, there are so many things wrong that you don't know where to begin or end. It is such a morass that perhaps few have ever been able to take it all in - it was included in the IOM farago and Congress ought to be just as interested in it as the Danish papers.

In 1999 Pediatrics, the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics published this commendable statement:
“The US Public Health Service (USPHS), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and vaccine manufacturers agree that thimerosal-containing vaccines should be removed as soon as possible.”

But something is really rotten in Denmark and in the American Academy of Pediatrics as well. These industrial scientists from Toronto, Canada included the fraudulent Denmark study coauthored by Poul Thorsen.

Orenstein, Katz, and Cooper authored recent editorials in Pediatrics claiming that removing thimerosal in 1999 was a mistake, and we should let the WHO keep it in the global vaccine supply. AAP also endorsed the WHO position of an open-ended exemption for thimerosal in the global vaccine supply. Hopefully the public will answer them loud and clear.
