Age of Autism Contest: Win A Full Life with Autism by Chantal Sicile-Kira & Jeremy Kira
We have a copy of A Full Life with Autism for one lucky AofA reader. Leave a comment to enter. Written by our friend Chantal Sicile-Kira and her adult son Jeremy...
A Full Life with Autism is a guide for helping our children on the spectrum lead meaningful and independent lives as they reach adulthood. In the next five years, hundreds of thousands of children with autism spectrum disorder will reach adulthood. And while diagnosis and treatment for children has improved in recent years, parents want to know: What happens to my child when I am no longer able to care for or assist him?
Autism expert Chantal Sicile-Kira and her son Jeremy offer real solutions to a host of difficult questions, including how young adults of different abilities and their parents can:
- navigate this new economy where adult service resources are scarce
- cope with the difficulties of living apart from the nuclear family
- find, and keep a job that provides meaning, stability and an income
- create and sustain fulfilling relationships
Congrats on the book, Chantal and Jeremy! Leave a comment to enter.
Chantal is coming to Springfield MO on May 3 and I'd love to have a copy in hand when I go to the Building Healthy Families Conference she is speaking at.

Being married for 8 yrs to my husband who has Autism has been a
very lonely and isolated journey until now in 2012. The hope and information presented in recent years re this life-altering
illness has been revelation. Autistic persons and their loved- ones are now afforded opportunities to analyze mounting diag-
nostic data as never before! This is truly a blessing from God in his grace to never give us more than we can bear.....

I might not qualify- my severely autistic daughter has never had ANY vaccinations, is there a place for us? Or are we excluded because we have nowhere to hang our anger? May Peace be found for all.

My son is only 7, but we learn from those who have gone before us. Chantal and Jeremy have so much to teach us. I would love to win this book for that very reason.

I would love to have this book. Chantal I saw you speak at Autism One a few years ago. I was lost. I thought this woman is so upbeat. What does she know that I don't? I have two of your books. We discovered the same method of teaching used for Jeremy. We feel differently about our son and he feels better about himself. He's 18 so we could use more guidance and good advice.
Thank you

My son is 13 and the years of between now and adulthood are looming over my thoughts. Our son's level of functioning will require 1:1 supervision. I want him to have a full life with exposure to many things but I fear funding and expense will not be there for him. We want to keep him in our home as I'm so dreadfully fearful that no one will have enough love for him to deal with his constant demand for help. We have only one other son to provide the love and care of our ASD son when we are gone. How do we answer these many questions? I am in need of a path, a mentor, to show me the way. The book, if I were to get it, would be a resource to me and shared with many others. Thank you for the opportunity to get a copy of the book.

I really need some uplifting words! Last week was very emotional. I have 5 grand children including twin boys affected by autism. One of the boys had a re eval recently. We got the report last week. He is 9 & functions at a 3 year old level. We stay so focused on what he CAN do that this news was like "D Day" all over again. Still hurting....still mourning....
