Opportunity to Rollback Virginia’s HPV Vaccine Mandate

No voice no choiceVirginia’s House of delegates last week passed HB 1112 a bill that repeals Virginia’s requirement that all girls get the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine to attend school. The bill now needs to be approved by the Virginia State Senate.
Virginia is the only state that requires the HPV shot. Parents should be making medical decisions for their minor children, not politicians.

Virginians, (and Virginians only please) take a couple of minutes to send an email to your State Senator expressing your support for HB1112 by clicking on the link below which will take you to the website of the Autism Action Network where you can contact your State Senator directly.

The repeal is supported by Virginia voters. A recent poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows that Virginians support repealing the HPV mandate by 50% to 42%. Women supported the repeal by a margin of 54%-40%.

The HPV shot has had a highly controversial and sordid history.  Julie Gerberding, former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved an expedited safety and efficacy review of Merck’s Gardasil, the first HPV product, which allowed the Gardasil to hit the marker several years earlier than if the normal review procedures. After leaving the CDC Gerberding was hired by Merck to head its vaccine development division.

More than 10,000 serious injuries, including debilitating brain damage, and more than 100 deaths resulting from Gardasil have been reported to the federal Vaccine Adverse Every Reporting System.

Findings showing that providing HPV shots to girls and women who are already sexually active leads to a higher rate of the pre-cancerous lesions that manufacturers claim HPV vaccines prevents are routinely ignored by physicians.

Merck launched an extremely well-funded effort to make Gardasil mandatory for school attendance in every state. Much of the effort was lead by members of Women in Government, an organization that receives almost all of it’s funding from drug manufacturers.

Gardasil may have been the highpoint of the forced vaccination industry, working together we can start rolling back the mandates.

Please share this info with friends and family, especially those in Virginia, and post to Facebook and other social networks.

If you had done your research, you would know that this "mandate" isn't really a mandate-- it's a letter sent home to parents saying that, if they're interested, they should talk to their physician to determine if they'd like to get the vaccine. I'd say that this is an easy opt-out for parents, but the reality is that this is MORE lax than an opt-out-- in fact, in order to even get it, you have to 'opt-in'.

The only reason it was called a mandate is so that the VFC program(Vaccines for Children) could garner the proper funding to help out low-income families who wanted the vaccine, but weren't Medicaid-eligible and couldn't afford the vaccine otherwise. Whether this vaccine is evil (EYE ROLL) or not is irrelevant-- if a parent decides she wants to vaccinate her daughter, she should be able to- that's what this bill enables. For god's sake, do your research before spouting nonsense.

"Virginians support repealing the HPV mandate by 50% to 42%. Women supported the repeal by a margin of 54%-40%."

This is encouraging, but it is still incredible that there isn't more outrage over these mandates. Particularly Gardasil.

Required HPV vaccine to attend school? You mist he joking. I'd pull my kid before they would ever make me do that and I have severe stage 4 dysplasia.
