Best of AofA Scientists and Drug Companies Scheme to Avoid FDA Scrutiny and Exploit US Vaccine Programme Immunity Against the Public Interest

MoneySyringe Managing Editor's Note: We ran this post last May. Seemed relevant today.

By John Stone

Just eight days after the Supreme Court of the United States ruling granting vaccine manufacturers virtual immunity over prosecution ( Bruesewitz v. Wyeth) , scientists and company representatives met at a congress in Baltimore to  “Understand the Changes in the National Vaccine Plan to Maximize Government Sponsored Funding and Avoid FDA Scrutiny”.  The “workshop” which took place on 2 March 2011 was the first event in a Vaccine Business Congress  held under the auspices of the Institute for International Research USA . Amongst the many participants  at the congress were representatives of Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi Pasteur, Roche,  the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,  the Wellcome Trust, and the National Cancer Institute (NIH) (IIRUSA WelcomeIIRUSA Agenda).

Despite frequent bleating from industry apologists that vaccine manufacturers do not make money the pre publicity for the event showed the industry in rampant mood. The on-line brochure states:

“VACCINES are the continuing success story, earning over $27 billion in 2009 alone, despite difficult economic times for the pharmaceutical industry.  By 2012, vaccines are expected to bring in more than $35 billion in revenue.”

The brochure demonstrates the utter negligence of  the US Congress, administration and courts in leaving its citizenry subjected and exposed to an industry, forced to inject its products by mandate into their children, forced to pay for them through taxation and finally to do so without any sanction against manufacturers should damage occur. Is it any surprise then that instead of regarding the manufacture of safe and effective products as a solemn ethical duty, they just turn round and brazenly discuss how to milk the contemptible system to the uttermost?  Please send this article to your Congressmen and women, and ask them what they intend to do about it.

With thanks to Hilary Butler  and others.

Actos is produced by Takeda Industries and co-marketed by Eli Lilly.
Eli Lilly Zyprexa can *cause* diabetes.
I took Zyprexa a powerful Lilly schizophrenic drug for 4 years it was prescribed to me off-label for post traumatic stress disorder was ineffective costly and gave me diabetes.
Eli Lilly's #1 cash cow Zyprexa drug sale $40 billion dollars so far,has a ten times greater risk of causing type 2 diabetes over the non-user of Zyprexa. So,here we have a conflict of interest that this same company Eli Lilly also is a big profiteer of diabetes treatment.
(Actos works as an insulin *sensitizer*)
Sooooo,Eli Lilly pushes a drug (Zyprexa) that can cause diabetes.... then turn around sell you the drugs (Actos) to treat the diabetes that in turn can cause cancer!
What a terrible conflict of interest!

John Stone,

I was asking, or meant to ask, if "avoid FDA scrutiny" is a poor choice of words for perhaps understanding how to comply with FDA regulations. I do worry though that "avoid" indicates the actual frame of mind for both the regulators and the industry, since you can't separate the two as far as I can see.

Thanks for keeping a watch. Perhaps they will someday learn to expect public scrutiny.

I think they already made vaccines for arthritis and diabetes, if you get my meaning.

and to you and yours good health too!

27 billion dollars later the population's health is lower than ever. This blanket immunity needs to be scrapped.Cancer,
diabetes,autism,alzheimers,auto-immune disorders are rising
and they want to put out more toxins, more adjuvants, more
contaminated vaccines on the market??? Who is going to take care of all the sick and disabled people they are (pharma) producing??? We have a system failure now when the children are ill, parents are aging and grandparents becoming sick
or disabled.

How can they unremittingly go about bragging, that their vaccine program was a success, when it has created epidemics of children with autism, seizures, autoimmune problems, and the seniors, oy, alzheimers...oh wait, that's right, that IS considered a success, a grand business model for the pharmawhores...create an illness, we got a "cure for that"...sigh..

Hi Jeannette

An interesting reading but shouldn't a vaccine manufacturer welcome scrutiny from the regulator, not avoid it?

The Supreme Court decision to deny parents/patients their right to sue for vaccine damage in State and Federal Courts .. has taken very BIG step .. down a VERY slippery slope .. by broadening and expanding product liability protections to the vaccine industry for a product the Supreme Court recognizes as being "unavoidably unsafe".

Today .. there are reportedly a few hundred "vaccines" in various stages of production .. and .. some of those are vaccines meant to prevent personal "addictions" .. such as .. smoking or amphetamines. Some vaccines will target diseases that are primarily spread by "individual behaviors" .. such as .. HEP B or HPV. There is even a rumor that one vaccine seeks to prevent "male pattern baldness".

In any event .. NONE of these vaccines are meant to protect the public against highly communicable diseases .. such as .. measles, polio, etc .. yet .. as I understand the Supreme Court decision .. they will receive the SAME "product liability" protections.

In addition .. consider how the Supreme Court's decision to protect the vaccine manufacturers may eventually impact the general health and safety of the "herd" ..

Vioxx .. was recalled by Merck after it was found to increase the risk of heart attack, stroke and serious blood clots. People who used Vioxx for more than 18 months were shown to carry twice the risk of heart attack that people who took a sugar pill placebo. An estimated 84 million people took Vioxx since released in 1999 ..

Actos .. a Type II diabetes drug .. already banned in two European countries .. presently being investigated by the FDA .. is suspected of causing bladder cancer, particularly in patients taking Actos for a year or more.

These are just TWO drugs of hundreds in pill form .. that pharmaceutical companies will have to pay lucrative compensation awards .. which begs the obvious question:

Why wouldn't pharmaceutical companies abandon (Vioxx and Actos) pills .. and .. divert the vast majority of their research and development towards vaccines .. for which they will received "product liability protection" .. courtesy of a majority of the US Supreme Court?

Hey .. the "herd" needs a vaccine to prevent arthritis and diabetes .. don't they?

I often wonder if these people mean outright what they sometimes say:

"avoid FDA scrutiny" instead of, perhaps, avoid FDA violations

"the continuing success story" vs. just plain old "continuing success"

or not used here, but somewhat prevalent in usage:

"health preventive measures"

I know they want us to believe they follow FDA regulations (and the regulations are more than adequate), that vaccines have been and are always a continuing success, that they are actually in the business of protecting health, not preventing it, ... I want to believe that in most cases they also believe it themselves, at least superficially, so that leaves me wondering if we are observing the subconscious working to keep communication honest or perhaps attempting to warn listeners and communicators alike?

Vaccines are BIG BUSINESS! I never understood why I was always told that vaccines don't turn a profit and that they are "produced and distributed for the welfare of mankind" or some crap like that.

"By 2016, the Global Vaccines Market is Expected to Generate More Than Twice the Annual Revenue of 2009"

"The global vaccines industry was valued at $24 billion in 2009 and is expected to reach $52 billion in 2016 at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 11.5%. The vaccines market, which was once considered a low-profit segment of the top players’ portfolios, showed a turnaround after the resounding success of Prevnar, the first blockbuster vaccine."

How will they get out of this one? Can't keep beating that dead horse. No money in vaccines?

Big Business = BIGGER $$$$$
