Autism File Highlights Vitamin B6 in Treatment of Symptoms Associated with Autism
Long history of effectiveness backs use of B6 for individuals diagnosed with autism
Norwalk, CT – The Autism File magazine’s fall issue, available October 4, presents the scientific history of Vitamin B6 as a vital component of an autism treatment protocol. “The Benefits of B6” by Autism File Managing Editor Kate Brophy gives readers a summary of the evidence backing the effectiveness of B6, along with dosing guidelines and recommended supplementation of magnesium in the treatment protocol. According to Anju Usman, MD, Autism File Advisory Board member, “Magnesium is also important to take with B6 because it is a cofactor in many of the same pathways with which B6 is involved, so they work synergistically to produce benefits.”
The article is part of an ongoing Autism File series presenting the latest information on promising biomedical autism treatments. Planned topics for future issues include cerebral folate deficiency, essential fatty acids, methyl B12, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The fall Autism File also covers timely back-to-school topics such as getting the most from the Individualize Education Plan (IEP) process, the pros and cons of homeschooling, and maximizing nutrition through healthy lunch box recipes. Cutting-edge research, obtaining respite care, and Relationship Development Integration (RDI) are also addressed in the issue, along with a regular column by Age of Autism Managing Editor Kim Stagliano, author of All I Can Handle and the mother of three girls diagnosed with autism.
Starting in 2012, The Autism File moves from quarterly to bi-monthly publication, offering readers six issues per year. Contributors include experts in the fields covered as well as parent perspectives from those working actively in the autism trenches. “All of us at the magazine are excited about the current issue and the wealth of information we’re able to provide our readers, said Autism File Editor-in-Chief Polly Tommey. “We believe that our family-friendly approach to the critical topics we cover will be of huge assistance not only to parents, but to educators, therapists, and anyone who cares for or works with someone on the autism spectrum.”
The fall issue will be available at Barnes & Noble stores starting October 4, or by subscription at www.autismfile.com
