Information for every parent of a child with autism, updated and revised with the latest developments.
Revised and updated to reflect the new developments in the last year, the 2011–2012 edition explains possible causes of autism, including food allergies and gastrointestinal diseases in children. An extensive variety of therapies is discussed, from dietary interventions that reduce sugars and remove gluten to animal assisted therapies that place a dog or cat in the care of the autistic individual to help enhance social and developmental skills. Filled with numerous case studies and more than seventy distinct subjects, Cutting-Edge Therapies for Autism is a detailed and informative guide for anyone affected by autism. 94 black-and-white illustrations.
The treatment category is sponsored by Lee Silsby, the leader in quality compounded medications for autism.
What's the story on this contest? I haven't heard anything, like an email.

I'm almost worn out! I was prepared for twins, but not twins on the spectrum. I feel like we've tried it all and my son has hit a plateau. I'd love to read about something cutting edge for a change instead of the same old things that didn't work for us a year ago.

Kari - that's exactly what happened to us. Doctor: "Your son has autism." She actually turned to leave the room and I had to yell, "Hey!!! What do I do now?!" She sighed and gave me a half-ass list of some providers of some kinds of therapies. Right then I knew we were on our own.
We've done a lot, but know there's more to try. This book would be one-stop shopping for me, saving me tons of time I don't have so I don't have to scour the internet for the next thing we need to try.

Kari, that's exactly how explain what happens in our world. It's "here's your diagnosis, now go out in the world and figure it out." I am now a full time therapist, nutritionist, holistic health implementer, diagnostician, translator, and taxi driver. If only 1 of those jobs paid, we wouldn't be bankrupt ;)

Please consider us. My son is a non-responder to a lot of things we have tried so we are always looking for what else might help him get better. I think this book could help. Thanks!

Thanks for having this contest! I'm always looking to expand my "autism library", and I don't have this book. With all the $ spent on treatments, it's good to know that you are there helping us out in more ways than one. :-)

OK, hello, great idea for a book. I tell people, all the time, that I am in the research business. No one tells you these things and you have to just discover them. Imagine if someone told you that you had cancer, shook your hand, and walked out, expecting you to figure out what to do, who can do it, how to get insurance coverage, and so on. No one would dream of it. But change that to Autism and you are on your own.
