A Cutting Edge Therapies a Day Keeps... Contest for This Great Book!

Cutting edge 2012 Our friends at Skyhorse Publishing have given us TWENTY copies of Cutting Edge Therapies for Autism 2011-2012 Edition. That's one a day through the end of this autism ACTION month! Leave a comment to win!

Information for every parent of a child with autism, updated and revised with the latest developments.

The parents of children with autism know that research is a full-time job. For parents with limited time, ability, or resources to do this, Ken Siri and Tony Lyons have compiled the latest in autism research and treatment. Cutting-Edge Therapies for Autism contains contributions from more than eighty experts on a variety of therapies, models, and multifaceted evaluation and treatment centers. Each contributor provides readers with an easy-to-understand description of the topic, including its scientific rationale, development, risks, and benefits. Siri and Lyons include the therapies of the future, focusing on current clinical trials, ongoing research, and the researchers who are striving to better understand autism and find new treatments.

Revised and updated to reflect the new developments in the last year, the 2011–2012 edition explains possible causes of autism, including food allergies and gastrointestinal diseases in children. An extensive variety of therapies is discussed, from dietary interventions that reduce sugars and remove gluten to animal assisted therapies that place a dog or cat in the care of the autistic individual to help enhance social and developmental skills. Filled with numerous case studies and more than seventy distinct subjects, Cutting-Edge Therapies for Autism is a detailed and informative guide for anyone affected by autism. 94 black-and-white illustrations.

I would love a copy for my Daughter-in-Law to read, they have no computer so the more information she can get to help her learn more for my Autistic Grandson!

Trina D Aurin

Having a book like that for "free" since that is not a common word for treatment for children with Autism would be wonderful! Kyle and I will keep our fingers crossed. Love your site and I enjoyed your talk in OC through TACA.

My son has high functioning autism/asperger's. We did behavioral therapy and OT for years with great success. I am looking forward to reading this book because puberty is setting in and I have heard from other parts there can be some regression there. I can't wait to see what new treatment options are out there.

Lisa Brooks

Would love to receive a copy!

Tisha Mette

Been on this journey since 2006 - and the one thing that amazes me and that there is still SO much to learn. I try to stay on top of the latest research....which can be overwhelming so I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have this book with so many cutting edge therapies all in one location. I head an autism mom's group of 60+ ladies in South Dakota -- would love to share the book and info with them as well!!
Thanks -

My son has high-functioning Asperger's Syndrome.
A female psychologist (not a very nice or bright one)told me that he would probably have to be institutionalized. Today he is on a full academic scholarship at the University of California at the very top of his class.
So many OTHER people helped with his progress to whom I am so very grateful. Would love to have (and share) this book with others who also initially had no hope.

Alice Petersen

Looks like a great resource to help heal my son.

One of the few I don't own...would love to add it to my library!

I would LOVE to win this book! I run a support group for special needs families and as part of that, I also run a lending library where parents can check out resources for free. Considering the vast majority of parents who attend meetings have at least one child on the autism spectrum, this would be an excellent book to add to the collection and would provide benefit to lots of families. Thanks!

Janet Edghill

I am the mother of a 3 year old son with autism. I was told by doctors at a major autism center in Baltimore, as well as ABA therapists, that autism is strictly neurological, although he suffers from gastrointestinal distress, is allergic to nearly every major food group, and is non-verbal. I have tried some of the interventions in Jenny McCarthy's book, and have alleviated some of his gastro issues, but would love to learn more. I am always searching for anything that might help him.

Please enter me! I would love to win and use it for our kids as well as help others who work with our kids to learn more too! Thanks to the publisher and writers and for AoA!
Proud Mom to Ethan, Alex, and Megan

Joanne Antonetti-Beard

In 2001 when my son was born with severe autism, I was clueless and lived in a isolated part of the country with little to no services. I hacked my way through understanding and treating his autism on my own. After seeing his progress I began a support group that held open monthly meetings, informationals, and eventually conferences. I have done all of this work pro-bono and am now teaming up with a chiropractor (my new husband) to offer this help through a specialized program. I have put all of the books I read and utilized (as well as CD's and DVD's) into a lending library as part of the services so parents can have free access to the information that helped me so much to recover my son. I would love to add this book to that library. Joanne Antonetti-Beard
