I am sticking to my routine of vitamin C, coupled with my multi vitamins, my ginko bilaboa (which has worked MIRACLES for me!!), and my home made loose leaf herbal teas, thank you!!!

I am the healthiest I ever been in my entire life right now, using nothing but this regiment! I can focus, multi-task better, communicate better, and keep my stomach issues and the constant spasms in my body under far more control then I ever did using the usual medical community.

My mom, who has been in the health industry for years preaches the same tune to everybody: Drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy, keep up on your vitamins and supplements, and keep up your vitamin C regiment along with washing your hands repeatedly and you will defeat the cold season!

Flu Shots Simply Don’t Work

Numerous studies have shown that flu shots simply do not work.

For example:

· According to the 2006 Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 51 separate studies concluded the flu vaccine worked no better than a placebo in 260,000 children ranging in age from six months to 23 months.

· A study published in the October 2008 Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found flu vaccines in young children have made no difference in the number of flu-related doctor and hospital visits.

· As reported in a 2004 publication of the Archives of Disease in Childhood, a study of 800 children with asthma concluded those receiving a flu vaccine had a significantly increased risk of asthma-related doctor and emergency room visits.[6]

· A more recent study released at the 2009 American Thoracic Society International Conference showed children with asthma who received FluMist had a 3-fold increased risk for hospitalization.[7]

And not only are vaccines ineffective in preventing flu in your children, they are equally useless for adults, including the elderly.

· According to the 2007 Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, studies of over 65,000 healthy adults concluded vaccinations reduced the risk of flu by only six percent, and reduced missed work days by less than a single day. Vaccinations did not reduce the number of people who sought medical help or took time off from work.[8]

· The 2006 Cochrane Database also includes a review of 64 vaccination studies of the elderly across nearly 100 flu seasons. The studies showed flu vaccines were ineffective in preventing the flu in either nursing home patients or elderly living in the community.[9]

· A study published in the Lancet last year found that influenza vaccination was NOT associated with a reduced risk of pneumonia in older people. This supports a study done five years ago, published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

· Research published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine also confirms that there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza and pneumonia, despite the fact that vaccination coverage among the elderly has increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now.

Last year, researchers with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the National Institutes of Health published this conclusion in the Lancet Infectious Diseases:

“We conclude that frailty selection bias and use of non-specific endpoints such as all-cause mortality have led cohort studies to greatly exaggerate vaccine benefits.”

Flu Vaccines Pose Significant Health Risks to Your Children

Most flu vaccines contain dangerous levels of mercury in the form of thimerosal, a deadly preservative that is 50 times more toxic than regular mercury.[10] If taken in high enough doses, it can result in long-term immune, sensory, neurological, motor, and behavioral dysfunctions.

Disorders associated with mercury poisoning include autism, attention deficit disorder, multiple sclerosis, and speech and language deficiencies.

The Institute of Medicine has warned that infants, children, and pregnant women should not be injected with thimerosal, and yet the majority of flu shots contain 25 micrograms of it.

It has been calculated that, by age two, American children have received 237 micrograms of mercury from vaccines alone, which far exceeds the current EPA “safe” level of 0.1 mcg/kg per day. [Maximum safe dose = 0.1 versus 25 mg. in one flu shot]

Do all these doctors offices have to pay in full, up front for the vaccines and then "eat the ones" they don't sell ?

That must be quite a guessing game. Thank gawd the mercury saves on refrigeraton costs.

Does anyone have a list of typical charges an office makes on any given toddler vaccine??

I would guess at least $50 each as they march down the halls of the nursing homes.

I agree that it's a mistake to focus too much on the mercury. Flu vaccines are worthless and dangerous, period. Although people do need to know there is mercury in them.

Many elderly people still love to get a flu shot. They're so happy to do it and really think they're doing something healthy. It's so sad.

There is a real problem here, isn't there? It isn't that there are not necessarily any benefits to vaccines, it is just that the vaccine trade has become an obscene racket with an ever-expanding schedule and a captive market. If you could ever change the culture you might be able to get back into a rational discussion about the pros and cons of specific products. But making everyone have a flu shot when there is no scientific or ethical justification, and making people fight to get the version without mercury, is just plain nasty.

Very well stated! You have expressed the issue perfectly! It is seriously misguided to take a nuanced approach to vaccine safety. None of them are safe.

I have to admit, important though the mercury is, that it is hard to see any ethical grounds to support the use of these vaccines. From a recent Cochrane Review:

"Authors of this review assessed all trials that compared vaccinated people with unvaccinated people. The combined results of these trials showed that under ideal conditions (vaccine completely matching circulating viral configuration) 33 healthy adults need to be vaccinated to avoid one set of influenza symptoms. In average conditions (partially matching vaccine) 100 people need to be vaccinated to avoid one set of influenza symptoms. Vaccine use did not affect the number of people hospitalised or working days lost but caused one case of Guillian-Barré syndrome (a major neurological condition leading to paralysis) for every one million vaccinations. Fifteen of the 36 trials were funded by vaccine companies and four had no funding declaration. Our results may be an optimistic estimate because company-sponsored influenza vaccines trials tend to produce results favorable to their products and some of the evidence comes from trials carried out in ideal viral circulation and matching conditions and because the harms evidence base is limited."
