Statement from Dr. Andrew Wakefield Regarding GMC Hearing Sanctions
On Wednesday April 7th, General Medical Council (GMC) lawyers will demand that I and likely two other doctors involved in the MMR-autism case should be erased from the UK’s medical register, removing our license to practice medicine. Doctors’ regulators have found the three of us - Professor John Walker-Smith, Professor Simon Murch and me - guilty of undertaking research on children with autism without approval from an ethics committee.
We can prove, with extensive documentary evidence, that this conclusion is false.
Let me make it absolutely clear that, at its heart, the GMC hearing has been about the protection of MMR vaccination policy. The case has been driven by an agenda to crush dissent that in my opinion serves the government and the pharmaceutical industry — not the welfare of children. It’s important to note that there has never been a complaint against any of the doctors by any parent involved in this case — only universal parental support and gratitude.
My colleagues, Professors Walker-Smith and Murch, are outstanding pediatricians and pediatric gastroenterologists. They have led the field of pediatric gastroenterology for decades, devoting their lives to caring for sick children. Our only “crime” in this matter has been to listen to the concerns of parents, act according to the demands of our professional training, and provide appropriate care to this neglected population of children. It is unthinkable that at the end of an unimpeachable career, Professor Walker-Smith would even consider unethical experimentation on children under his care.
In the course of our work, we discovered and treated a new intestinal disease syndrome in children with autism, alleviating suffering in affected children around the world. This should be cause for celebration. Instead, we have been vilified in the press, and demonized by a wasteful PR campaign by the Department of Health. The aim of this negative publicity was to discredit my criticism of vaccine safety research.
Sadly, my colleagues have suffered severe collateral damage in this effort to prevent valid scientific enquiry. They should be exonerated, and left alone with their reputations intact, in the certain knowledge that they have done only what is right.
The loss of my own medical license is, unfortunately, the cost of doing business. Although I do not take this loss lightly, the suffering - so much of it unnecessary - that I have seen among those affected by this devastating disease makes the professional consequences for me a small price to pay by comparison.
As long as a question mark remains over vaccine safety; as long as a safety-first vaccine policy is subordinate to profit and self-interest; as long as the benefits of vaccines are threatened by those who have compromised public confidence by denial of vaccine damage, and as long as these children need help; I will continue my work.
Dr Andrew Wakefield is an academic gastroenterologist, committed to understanding more about the role of intestinal inflammation and dysfunction in childhood developmental disorders. He is involved in a new initiative, focused specifically on issues of autism causation. His book Callous Disregard comes out in May 2010.
The GMC is deeply corrupt. I speak from serious from experience.

I would like to thank Dr. Wakefield for his strong moral character and his immense contribution to all those who have suffered so greatly from autism. His honesty, ethics, morals, and strength are what clearly defines this man from others. A truly remarkable person that you rarely see nowadays. Professors John Walker-Smith and Simon Murch are equal heroes in medicine. This is a sad day and reminds me of a parallel story of the Crucifixion. How ironic that this occurred right after the Easter Holidays when we are to remember the Crucifixion and Resurrection. I believe there will be a resurrection for these brave men who have sacrificed so much for humanity. The truth will come out and in the end there is only one higher power that knows the truth. We are forever supportive of you and indebted to you in the Autism community. Wishing you God-speed!

To Marvin
I asked the same question about costs and John Stone replied to me saying it is likely that all the Doctors would be insured for costs as was the case in the Hearing.

When we see so much the depravity and darkness of man, Andrew Wakefield, Simon Murch, John Walker-Smith, are the bright lights of integrity, honesty, and a reason for hope.

Does Dr Wakefield have a legal foundation for his defense that I can give a very few dollars, that I can afford, to?

" Every Rose has it's Thorn " .. Wakefield and co. have been showing the world for the past decade plus. When it wasn't good enough in the U.K. then it came this way and was scoffed at for one reason. PROFIT. Wait.. two.. PHARMA .. How anyone can sleep at night that uses character and other attacks on those that dedicate their life to this cause in whatever way they do so. Dedicating ones life is not 8 to 5 mon to fri. It's 7 days.. hours that are two to three times a 'normal' 'job' . Neither of those two words fit it. Wakefield should be given credibility and the pharmies should be silent and keep lining their pockets with the illnesses created by known of toxins. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to tell you metals like mercury mixed with embalming fluid and chemicals used in anti freeze shot up into a childs body or ANYONES body makes any sense whatsoever. The MMR was split to 3 sep. shots.. if thats not admitting guilt I don't know what is. All we can do is continue to take a stance small or large and take what comes your way because of it. Wakefield lost his license... he still moves on. An inspiration indeed.

Dr. Wakefield,
You will always hold the title of "Doctor" regardless of a "medical license" because you are one of those rare few who are dedicated to healing and truth!!! Your book has the perfect title: "Callous Disregard" and will certainly bring the truth to light about the corruption that is really going on.
Regarding Professor John Walker-Smith and Professor Simon Murch, it would be a shame for Britain to lose these great men who are so desperately needed there, but we will gladly take them here in America along with you, for the great blessings this would bring to America's sick and suffering children.
There was a Perfect Man who came before all of us, our Perfect Example of compassion and healing the sick; a man who lived with persecution and false accusations who understands injustice and suffering for the sake of righteousness and speaking the Truth. He gives strength and blessings to those who suffer because of following his example.
"For all things I have the strength by virtue of Him who emparts power to me." (Phillipians 4:13)
“He was despised and rejected of men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
Surely, surely, He hath borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows." (Isaiah 53:3-4)

I hope you go into research, where no medical license is required, and blast the world with what is really going on. Pray, and let God guide you to your path. Let this assault against you work for you and mankind and against those who - well are so obviously at fault. And frankly, I would file charges against the GMC for being biased. Use an unbiased court, a jury of non-affiliates. It should be a very easy case to prove. With the horrendous autism suffering going on in England, a jury of the commonwealth would be happy to finally get a say.
I don't know much about England's court system, but I still have faith in the American court system, as long as it is a jury of peers, and not a professionally-picked jury whose careers depend upon their decisions.

It seems strange to me that the poet below was written about the Soviet Union in the 60s, since it could be here and now; on this very subject and in the voice of the three courageous doctors, who showed what mattered to them most by what they sacrificed.
Fears
by Yevgeni Yevtushenko
Fears are dying out in Russia
like the ghosts of bygone years,
and only like old women, here and there,
they still beg for alms on the steps of a church.
But I remember them in their strength and power
at the court of triumphing falsehood.
Like shadows, fears crept in everywhere,
and penetrated to every floor.
Gradually, they made people subservient,
and set their seal upon all things:
they taught us to shout when we should have kept silent,
and to shut our mouths when we had need to shout.
Today all this has become remote.
It’s strange even to recall nowadays
the secret fear of being denounced,
the secret fear of a knock at the door.
And what of the fear of speaking to a foreigner?
A foreigner’s one thing, but what of speaking to one’s wife?
And what of the boundless fear of remaining
alone with silence after the brass bands have stopped?
We were not afraid of building in the blizzard,
or of going into battle while shells exploded,
but at times we were mortally afraid
of even talking to ourselves.
We were not corrupted or led astray;
and Russia, having conquered her fears,
gives rise-not without reason-to even
greater fear among her enemies!
I wish that men were possessed of the fear
of condemning a man without proper trial,
the fear of debasing ideas by means of untruth,
the fear of exalting oneself by means of untruth,
the fear of remaining indifferent to others,
when someone is in trouble or depressed,
the desperate fear of not being fearless
when painting on a canvas or drafting a sketch.
And as I write these lines-
and I am in too great a haste at times-
I have only one fear when writing them:
the fear of not writing with all my power.
Words can't express thanks enough for all that you've done, Dr. Wakefield.

The courage and honesty that you three have shown here is nothing short of knighthood. Instead, the truth has been twisted and the lies to harm you multiplied as you are scorned to cover up the truth about vaccine damage. My admiration to all of you for being men of integrity and men of true science.
And remember that Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.

Tears are in my eyes at the assault on our children's best friends and on our children themselves, by making it professionally unsafe for doctors to treat them. Now that we address our son's gut issues via diet and nutritional supplements (we're still looking for the right digestive enzyme) he is so much better. He can walk across the room without tipping over. He can skip. He can pump a swing and not fall off. His brain functions better because his gut is better. He has improved speech and eye contact. Thank you, Drs Wakefield, Walker-Smith, and Murch. I am trying to believe TRUTH will prevail. It does, in our extended family. You are heroes.

Our problem is: We are not radicals.
So we hope someone like Dr. Wakefield will stand up for us.
Well, we all can see they can't.
So, we are going to have to become radicals.
How to become a radical.
Well I really do not know but I think the first way to begin is we go to the University Hospitals or doctor's offices - nursing schools, where ever and start sneaking signs upon their doors and writing slogans (chalk) is good on side walks. It is the first thing I notice after these radicals have tried to change the minds of the government. And is that not what Dr. Wakefield, and so many others have tried to do.
That is what the Iranian students did in the 70's as they attended our Univeristies and colleges free - that the Shaw paid for even. They were all mad at the Shaw and wrote slogans everywhere in arabic.
That is how I knew something was up, before even the Shaw knew.
So that is the first thing that happens when a revoltution begins.

Dr Wakefield and his colleagues are incredible heroes. If not for their brave work, my son and hundreds of thousands like him, would still be living in pain.
We are so grateful to you and your families for your ground breaking work on behalf of our kids. I cannot imagine how difficult this ordeal has been for these doctors and their families. Parents like me are involved in autism because we have no choice! To choose to risk everything in the pursuit of science and service to others rather than stay in a nice, stable and successful career amazes me. I truly don't know if I would be able to make such a selfless choice.
The irony that they are losing their licenses just as the research is gaining great momentum in their favor is so telling. The cowardice of the GMC would appall the most shameless of people.

When we took our son to Thoughtful House for a GI scope last year we were asked if we would allow our son's procedure to be filmed by Dateline NBC for a story on Dr. Wakefield.
We never hesitated. We knew that we could not be assured that we would not be shown as the crazy desperate parents, grasping at straws, just like we suspected we would. We assured ourselves of one thing however, that we would support Dr. Wakefield in any way we could.
It was an extraordinary experience, seeing the looks on the film crew's faces as our son ripped apart the waiting room, beat us and clawed at us until our arms dripped with blood from the continued pain he experienced every day from his bowel disease.
In the end, both our my wife and I, along with Dr. Wakefield and Dr. Krigsman were shown to be the articulate and compassionate people we were and I appreciate that - even if deer in the headlights and proffit got their words in.
The fact is, even with a ways to go, we just had the very best Easter weekend in over three years with our son, who is so much more comfortable and happy under the care of Dr. Arthur Krigsman.
Thank you Andy, the Kasemodel family is forever grateful for your help, and honored to have helped in any way we could.

I supported Andy Wakefield since I met him in September 1997 and I will support him till I die.
In time he will be proven right on all he has said. His enemies will be little noted because they are of no consequence or relevance.
The shame is that more could have been done to fund research regarding the MMR and autism so Andy Wakefield wouldn't be in the position he finds himself today. When I had the Autism Autoimmunity Project (TAAP) we managed to fund $130,000.00 for Andy Wakefield, Vijendra Singh and James Oleske on the MMR vaccine and autism. While Autism Speaks outspent us on research, I'm sure not one dime was spent on research with the MMR vaccine and autism. I have no idea if any other autism organization approached that figure either.
It would have been very beneficial for our kids and Andy Wakefield if it had been done which I assume it wasn't.
When the Brick, NJ study came out the parent who organized the group wasn't interested in Vijendra Singh and Andy Wakefield approaching the parents. She was more interested in looking at the water in the area. Too bad because they may have been able to get answers, instead the CDC sandbagged the group after the group sandbagged me, Andy Wakefield and Vijendra Singh.
Things may have been a lot different today but we will never know.
In 2005 TAAP went out of business. I felt sad but realized there seemed to be no interest in looking at the MMR link to autism.
So we are where we are now.
Andy Wakefield and our kids are victims of the pro-vaccine lobby that wants to deny the research and the help for more research WILL NOT be forthcoming.
Very sad!!!!

Unfortunately this has happened all to frequently and is so sad that we are losing the only Dr's that will take a stand for their pt's. I personally know of a Oncologist that 30 yrs ago had lung cancer pt's surviving more than 10 yrs! and yep they took his license because he looked at things like diet and metro-dosing chemotherapy agents. This is a sad time when money means more than human life.
My hat is off to you. My prayers are with you.

now contrast Dr. Wakefield's supposed indescretions to the doctors in this story...
Doctors are addicted to 'every drug under the sun'- UK Telegraph
An excerpt...
"Of these 51 were alcoholics and 16 drug addicts.
Dr Gerada said: “We are seeing every drug under the sun.
“Ketamine, methadrone, amphetamines, heroin, every drug you have ever heard of is coming through the door.”
The service has also treated unexpectedly high numbers of paediatricians, anaesthetists and psychiatrists.
The stress of the jobs, easy access to drugs, and the extra stigma attached to psychiatrists suffering from mental health problems could be reasons for the high demand, Dr Gerada said."
More than 80 per cent of those treated for drug or alcohol addictions were now sober, the first report on the service shows.
Prof Sir Liam Donaldson, the Chief Medical Officer for England, praised the success of the scheme.
“It has uncovered problems that would otherwise not have been seen and the interventions been highly effective,” he said

It's obvious that the authorities were determined to make sure you didn't get away with blowing their nifty little business. Keep telling it like it is, so that the public knows that there are valid responses to Brian Deer's claims.

Further proof that western medicine is a complete joke - except for acute illness and emergencies - they seem to do okay there.
Now is a good time to boycott mainstream, indoctrinated, clueless MDs. Homeopathic remedies are terrific natural alternatives to bumps, bruises and coughs colds and flus. A naturopath and good acupuncturist can help with chronic illnesses.
Now would be a great time to opt out of the sickness industry! Just say no to the "Cut, Poison and Burn" approach to sickness. A healthier path awaits you and your family, and you will feel a hell of a lot better physically, mentally and spiritually the sooner you find suitable, workable alternatives for your family.

The biggest irony is that even if one believes the very worst (the GMC-Briandeer version) of these three doctors this is NOT stuff that causes a doctor to lose his license. Unecessary procedures? Conflict of interest? 99% of US doctors would lose their licenses if that were the case. Gimme a frickin' break. It's all so stupid.
I would like to know what UK physicians really think of this decision. How do they feel knowing that not only do they not have freedom of practice, they don't even have freedom of thought. But like good coolies they are keeping their mouths shut and holding out the rice bowl.
Can't wait for Dr Wakefield's book. I'm not an optimist, but I really do think the truth about this whole cataclysm is fixing to come out.

How sickening! Lose a medical license for helping thousands of children.
Here in Texas, they let doctors keep their medical license even after found guilty of sexual misconduct or writing fraudulent prescriptions for pain medications.
Protect the vaccine program at all costs...including the lives and futures of our children.
Dr. Wakefield, my thoughts and prayers are with you and families, as well as your colleagues.
One day, you will be exonerated, and the criminals at the GMC will be sanctioned!

First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

What an atrocity of justice and decency!
A medical establishment this corrupt has no chance of redemption!
I just finished reading "I Am Josh" in the new issue of Autism File magazine. I cannot express in words the outrage I feel about what happened to this boy and his family. Josh deserves justice, compassion, and competent medical treatment. Those are things few people have been willing to give him. Dr. Wakefield is one of those who decided Josh deserved these things. But most of the media ignores kids like Josh, so the world just doesn't get it. What a crime!
Dr.'s Wakefield, Walker-Smith and Murch are the epitomy of integrity, compassion and strength. They are amazingingly courageous men who could have turned their backs on children who needed them, but they didn't. And that has, and will continue to cost them dearly. They are without a doubt heroes!

No amount of so called 'epidemiological' skewed data shuffling can hide the fact that autism, bowel disorders and behavioural problems like ADSD are now at record levels and the incidence is going UP not down. It has suited the medical and political 'establishments' to pretend this is not happening; but it is and the groundswell protests of parents, relatives, involved members of the public, and increasingly, the now 'grown up' children themselves, cannot be ignored forever.
It was a bad day for my grandson when my daughter was told that Simom Murch was no longer 'available' to treat his bowel condition at the Royal Free Hospital. We have nothing but praise for the kind, sympathetic and very professional treatment received from Profs Murch and Walker Smith.
My grandson is not one of the original 'Lancet Twelve' but a later, identical, case. My daughter was told at the time that my grandson's bowel condition was 'the same as all the rest'. All his colonoscopy films and notes have mysteriously disappeared. How very convenient for THOSE persons who keep banging on about how there were ONLY twelve children found to have this condition.
If the GMC persist with this expensive and perverse 'witchhunt', then they will ultimately destroy themselves, for without credibility, how can they possibly be tasked with 'upholding' the standards of other doctors? I don't know how these people can sleep at night.
Be brave and optimistic, Dr Wakefield. I have lived long enough on this planet to know that eventually truth and justice always prevail.

I fear it will take longer than just Wednesday. It is likely, however, that the doctors are insured to cover the cost of appeal, as they have been to cover their defence at the hearing.
I suppose, theoretically, if they are struck-off they won't be doctors any more. Better to retain their humanity, perhaps. The shame lies with government-pharma henchmen. 'A dog's obeyed in office' as Shakespeare has it.

The key to this are the distortions of the GMC - as prosecutor, judge and jury - over 162-95:
http://www.ageofautism.com/2010/03/the-gmc-and-the-mmr-case-162-95-is-the-key.html
http://www.bmj.com/cgi/eletters/340/feb02_4/c644#231147
The rest of the claims against the three doctors hinge largely on this single falsification of the record - apart from the raft of equally bogus claims made against Andy individually.
The answer to Patricia Pratt is that we are about to embark on yet another phase of the GMC hearing, at which disciplinary action is decided - but appeal is to the High Court, and presumably that can't begin until the entire charade is over.
