VA Denies Insurance Coverage for Autism.
As a parent of a child with Autism in the state of VA and as an Educational Advocate for special needs children - The current midset of our legislators in VA is beyond crazy.I would love to see a vote as to how many Delegates in the House have prescriptions for medications that are not necessary. Answer - probably MANY. How many of them are currently rehabing a family member after a stroke? Probably a few - well people that is all we were asking for. My son, lost all skills at 18 months, they call it Autism - I call it a Stroke but he is denied the quality rehab services that he needs but the Delegates family member who is receiving stoke rehab has the best services in the state - I am sure. I have families here in the VA that are standing in lines at food banks to feed their kids because they have spent every dime they have to provide the therapies that the children have to have.
STOP INSURANCE DISCRIMINATION AND FREE THE CHILDREN.

Angie - I love the way you think! Yes - EXACTLY No Speech Therapy for You with Autism - great idea!!! I will give this idea to the Virginia Autism Project and see what their thoughts are, too.

Is there a way we can raise money to develop a commercial to show across the state to prepare for next year? I envision a clip with a child with a mild speech impediment receiving speech therapy and then a quick change of a scene with a child with ASD with virtually no language and a big stamp across the screen saying, "Speech Therapy DENIED...because I have autism."

Thank you for selecting me for the comment of the week.
VA Delegates let all the children and parents down in Virginia once again this year and continue to deny our children the medically necessary therapies they need. As this was an extreme disappointment for myself and other parents in the state, it is a HARD blow for our children.
We will all regroup, regain our focus and go back again next year - because our children's quality of life will remain the most important issue in the battle.

She is exactly right! Let us throw out the name classic autism, PDD-NOS and apsergers and call it for what it is ---- a stroke!
What is really said: the medical doctors allow the strokes to continue for years after the intial immunization.
The only age group that is taken serious by the medical community is the young middle aged.
