76% of Americans Unaware Flu Shots Contain Mercury
By J.B. Handley
Two years ago, Generation Rescue commissioned a survey (HERE) by Zogby International of more than 9,000 Americans regarding their views on mercury in flu shots. Re-reading the survey, the results remain stunning to me. In fact, the folks at Zogby told me at the time they rarely see results this high on any survey about anything.
I really encourage you to read the entire 8 page summary of the survey results (HERE) and share them with whomever you are currently fighting with about your local flu shot clinic.
Results of the survey of 9,000 Americans include:
- 76% of respondents are unaware that most flu shots contain mercury.
- After learning that mercury is an ingredient, 74% are less likely to get a flu shot and 86% say they are less likely to get their child a flu shot.
- 77% believe mercury should not be an ingredient in flu shots given to pregnant women and children.
- 73% believe the government should warn pregnant women not to get a flu shot if it contains mercury.
- More than 70% agree that Congress, doctors and medical groups (e.g., the American Academy of Pediatrics) should take responsibility for ensuring vaccines do not contain mercury.
- 80% of respondents and 84% of parents are willing to pay the $2.50 additional cost for a mercury-free flu shot.
Also, at the end of the survey is a very interesting statement and answer:
"Mercury in childhood vaccines has played a role in the current autism epidemic"
Agree 31%
Disagree 17%
Not Sure 52%
My guess is that the same survey administered today would generate an even higher "agree" than 31%. I guess we're not so fringe after all.
Also, what follows is from Dr. Mercola's site and provides some additional information regarding the flu shot:
Dr. Mercola's Comments:
Back in 2005, The Federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended that all children between 6 months and 5 years old receive flu shots each year. Now they have expanded their guidelines to include children up to 18 years, which means everyone except those between the ages of 19-49, who are in good health, are urged to get a flu shot.
It should come as no surprise to find out that a majority of the ACIP members who came up with these guidelines have financial ties to the vaccine industry, and stand to gain personally for every additional person getting a yearly injection. It's actually the only explanation that makes any sense for recommendations as insane as these.
Three Reasons to Reconsider Flu Shots
There are three major reasons why this government push to vaccinate 84 percent of the U.S. population with a yearly flu vaccine is so incomprehensible:
1. The majority of flu shots contain 25 micrograms of mercury (HERE); an amount considered unsafe for anyone weighing less than 550 pounds! And which groups are most sensitive to the neurological damage that has been associated with mercury? Infants, children, and the elderly (HERE.)
2. No studies have conclusively proven that flu shots prevent flu-related deaths among the elderly, yet this is one of the key groups to which they're pushed (HERE.)
3. If you get a flu shot, you can still get the flu (or flu-like symptoms). This is because it only protects against certain strains, and it's anyone's guess which flu viruses will be in your area.
So why would you take a flu shot – EVERY YEAR -- that has NEVER been proven to be effective, that can give you the very illness you're trying to prevent, and has potential long-term side effects that are far worse than the flu itself?
The powers that be have done an excellent job of instilling fear into the population so they believe that they must get a shot to stay healthy, but the simple reality is it's doing you more harm than good.
And, even if the flu vaccine could effectively prevent the flu, there have been several examples in past years where government health officials have chosen the incorrect influenza strains for that year's vaccine. In 2004, the National Vaccine Information Center(HERE) described how CDC officials told everyone to line up for a flu shot that didn't even contain the influenza strain causing most of the flu that year (HERE.)
Two-Thirds of This Year's Flu Vaccines Contain a Full-Dose of Mercury
According to Dr. Donald Miller, MD, two-thirds of this year's flu vaccines contain 25 micrograms of thimerosal. Thimerosal is 49 percent mercury by weight (HERE.)
Each dose of these flu vaccines contains more than 250 times the Environmental Protection Agency's safety limit for mercury.
By now, most people are well aware that children and fetuses are most at risk of damage from this neurotoxin, as their brains are still developing. Yet the CDC still recommends that children over 6 months, and pregnant women, receive the flu vaccine each year.
In addition to mercury, flu vaccines also contain other toxic or hazardous ingredients like:
• Formaldehyde -- a known cancer-causing agent
• Aluminum -- a neurotoxin that has been linked to Alzheimer's disease
• Triton X-100 -- a detergent
• Phenol (carbolic acid)
• Ethylene glycol (antifreeze)
• Various antibiotics: neomycin, streptomycin, gentamicin – which can cause allergic reactions in some people
The Evidence Against Flu Vaccines
For those of you who are still unconvinced, know that there's plenty of scientific evidence available to back up the recommendation to avoid flu vaccines – if nothing else, then for the simple reason that they don't work, and don't offer any real benefit to offset their inherent health risks. For example:
• A brand new study published in the October issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine (HERE) found that vaccinating young children against the flu had no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons. The researchers concluded that "significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting" examined.
• A study published in the Lancet just two months ago (HERE) found that influenza vaccination was NOT associated with a reduced risk of pneumonia in older people. This supports a study done five years ago, published in The New England Journal of Medicine (HERE.)
• Research published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine (HERE) last month also confirms that there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza and pneumonia, despite the fact that vaccination coverage among the elderly has increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now.
• Last year, researchers with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and the National Institutes of Health published this conclusion (HERE) in the Lancet Infectious Diseases: "We conclude that frailty selection bias and use of non-specific endpoints such as all-cause mortality have led cohort studies to greatly exaggerate vaccine benefits."
• A large-scale, systematic review of 51 studies, published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews in 2006 (HERE,) found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo in children. The studies involved 260,000 children, age 6 to 23 months.

Oddly enough, most health care professionals who administer the vaccines themselves don’t know that it contains mercury!!!!
I was offered the shot by 1 doctor, when I questioned him if it contained mercury, he found this odd. He told me he never heard of vaccines containing mercury.
I was again offered vaccines at work. When I asked if the product they used contained mercury, they looked at me like I was crazy. They reviewed the content and told me “no, no mercury on the list” . I asked for the product slip and reviewed it, and sure enough they don’t come out writing mercury as an ingredient. Nope, it’s hidden under the name Thiomersal.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiomersal
Thiomersal is very toxic by inhalation, ingestion, and in contact with skin (EC hazard symbol T+), with a danger of cumulative effects.
Why would some one give this to their children.

I just learned that the USAF is now requiring me to give my preschoolers (2 and 3) the flu vaccine. I am not sure when they became more informed about my kids health/well being than myself (I happen to be a nurse) and my peditrician. I am going to battle with them tomorrow but they told me that they are just following CDC recommendations. I told them that they are recommendations.

i just read parents magazine for the month of november. and now i am not going to read it again. of course they did a 4 page spread on vaccines. and it started out with a mom delaying vaccines, and i thought "wow they are going to look at it from my point of view!" but wouldn't you know on the very next page was dr. paul offit! and it went on and on about how none of the hype is true. it was so one way and down played. and all of the websites they said to check out were one way, like the cdc website! so i think i am going to write them a letter. they said they wanted to help parents make a informed decesion. well with a one way point of view how can anyone make their own decession with only one point of view? but how could i think anything else would be said with dr. offit standing over the magazines shoulder!

I ran into an older woman from Church at the grocery store today. We started chatting. She mentioned she was babysitting her infant grandson this afternoon AFTER HIS WELL VISIT. I asked, "How old is he?" Yup, FOUR. Uh oh! I said, "Please tell your daughter to make sure that if they offer a flu vaccine, it's mercury free. The version given to kids 4 and up, including the elderly, has 25 MCG of mercury. Her eyes got WIDE. "Mercury? Why would anyone put mercury into shots? They don't even let you use a thermometer any more!" People really don't know. We're working on that....

Despite my son's lengthy file at the pediatrician detailing his immune dysfunction and Mercury poisoning we are still offered a flu shot every year.
Even last year when the strain was totally wrong.
The line that just bows me over, heard every time I have to see the pediatrician is...
(Following declining a flu shot...)
"You know it's not in there any more."
I reply
"It's in the flu shot 25mcgs and tentanus, read the insert."
"Well yeah."
It seems if we go to the pediatrician for anything a wart, a hang nail, they want to give my kid the flu shot.
(You want fries with that?)
How parents could trust this rhetoric and out right lie is beyond me. It makes me suspicious that they get some sort of secret commission on flu vaccines.
No mother in her right mind worries about the annual flu unless you have a winter vacation planned. One wonders how parents survived a decade ago before they were advised for kids.
It has totally blown my trust in my pediatrician, who now we only see if we are really really sick.
"It isn't in there anymore" is akin trusting a used car salesman to determine your best price on a car.
Parents scrutinize inserts! If you vaccinate. Assume nothing.

To Whom It May Concern,
Kerbob1 has not allowed the flu shot fiasco to remain undressed.

I came across this site that lists which flu vaccinations have 25mg, which ones are filtered with less then 1mg, and the mercury free mist.

Here's a fun fact:
Dr. Ari Brown, spokesperson for the AAP and staunch defender of Thimerosal in children's vaccinations, uses nothing but Thimerosal-free in her own pediatric practice. You won't find 25 mcgs. of the mercury-based preservative in a single one of her flu shots. (Call her office to verify!) But she advises millions that Thimerosal is no problem.

It has gotten worse. Just look at this:
"University Dispenses 11,500 Flu Shots in 9 Hours, Tries for World Record" (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,444710,00.html). The Chief Public Health Officer at the university called it "a wonderful success".
As for Vote & Vax, I just discovered them this morning. CNN has a story on them: "Cast a Vote, Get Vaccinated, Non-profit Urges" (http://www.cnn.com/2008/Health/10/29/vote.flu.shot/index.html). Forbes also has an on-line story: "Convenience is Key to Adult Flu Vaccinations" (http://www.forbes.com/prnewswire/feeds/prnewswire/2008/10/15/prnewswire200810151400PR_NEWS_USPR___DC39288.html). Apparently, they've managed to grow to "nearly 200 flu shot clinics...across 30 states and the District of Columbia". At least they haven't managed to grow any bigger.

That's the www.voteandvax.org site which is sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. RWJ is in NEW JERSEY - land of the vaccination mandate. I hear New Jersey is working on a vaccination for corpses - nothing BUT formadehyde....

Well just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I was reading the Boston Globe this morning and check this article out "Fly by Flu Shot"
http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2008/10/29/fly_by_flu_shot/
The article goes on to talk about how they will have flu shots available at the polling booths! wtf? I swear, I dropped my kids off at school today and thought, "My God, I better make sure they don't start giving it at school with their lunches!"

If you become violently ill within hours of getting a flu shot, some government bureaucrat will declare it a coincidence -- "post hoc ergo propter hoc." No report, no investigation.
If you get a flu shot and don't get the flu, some government bureaucrat will declare it another vaccine success. More bullet point lists for our media eunuchs.
If you skip a flu shot and don't get the flu, some government bureaucrat will declare that you are gambling with everyone else's health. So much for hand washing, vitamin D, healthful diet and rest. Or sick people who stay home instead of dragging their sorry behinds in to work.
If you skip a flu shot and get the flu, some government bureaucrat will declare that you are the Antichrist.

It boggles my mind that we are forcibly injecting so called placebos into our kids's bodies when in actual fact these flu shots are capable of triggering autism by impairing mitochondrial function. The flu shot threw my son's amino acids haywire, his alanine went to panic levels, his ammonia was elevated outside of reference range, and his lacate was elevated as well. Concurrent with these lab results, his speech went and he began echolalia and was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Alongwith speech, his communication skills were thrown for a loop too.
Injecting mercury into your body is injurious to your health.

Please! Get the bit about anti-freeze and formaldehyde straight.
http://insidevaccines.com/wordpress/2008/03/13/common-anti-vaccination-myths-and-misconceptions/
this sort of mistake lowers the credibility of vaccine critics.
quote: "Antifreeze is an ingredient in vaccines: (False) Antifreeze is ethylene glycol. I have not seen ethylene glycol listed on one single vaccine ingredients list ever. What I have seen are:
Phenoxyethanol is in DTaP, Hep A and B,Td, IPV but is not the same chemical makeup as ethylene glycol and is an organic chemical compound.
EDTA (ethylene-diamine-tetraacetic-acid ) is an amino acid, also used as a preservative in the Rabies and Varicella (chickenpox) vaccines.
EDTA is also used in chelation therapy, dentistry, as an anticoagulant, and many other things."
and: "Vaccines contain formaldehyde: (True) However, formaldehyde used in vaccines does not have the same chemical properties as the formaldehyde mixtures used in building materials or the burial process, given that chemical reactions and/or hindrances may have taken place. Vaccines utilize formaldehyde that is identical to the substance found naturally in our bodies as a metabolic byproduct of methanol. (It is commonly excreted in our urine as waste or converted into formalin).
Formaldehyde is frequently used in conjuction with other synthetic chemical compounds. These compounds, solutions, gasses, or resins can be, and often are, toxic.
As a result, when most people hear formaldehyde is in vaccines, they automatically think of the stinky chemical in plywood; an unfortunate error in the anti-vaccination community. This misunderstanding was compounded by FEMA’s recent statements regarding the formaldehyde levels in the trailers provided to Katrina refugees, which in fact was referencing urea-formaldehyde resin commonly used in composite wood products."
Thanks!

I was at a birthday party with my kids this past Saturday. A woman was there who, for some reason, tells me she's a doctor everytime I see her was there as well. She mentioned that she just had her kids vaccinated for the flu. When I asked her if it was the mercury free shot, she shrugged her shoulders and said, "It doesn't matter, they're fully vaccinated. I don't want a week in the hospital with the flu." My response: "You'd probably take a week in the hospital over Autism." Why are the doctor's the dumbest in the crowd?
