Jenny McCarthy Takes on Amanda Peet

Wrong_wayManaging Editor's Note:  Jenny McCarthy spoke out about Amanda Peet's calling parents who alter the vaccination schedule to protect their children "parasites."  Jenny has walked the autism walk. Amanda Peet has a neurotypical child (God bless her) and knows nothing about what we've gone through with our kids.  Jenny is an advocate and an insider. Amanda is a spokesperson who spouts the words on the page in front of her. There's a big difference. One teaches. The other proselytizes. May Amanda never need our help. But we'll be here if she does.  The LA Times is asking you to "vote" on which Mom you believe HERE. That's utterly disgusting in my mind, to vote on whether you believe Jenny, whose child was on death's door, is the "winner" or not. People think autism is a lark????  KS

"She (Peet) has a lot of [nerve] to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side, and I like the fact that I can say she's completely wrong,'' McCarthy (whose 6-year-old son has autism) tells the upcoming issue of Spectrum magazine, which hits stands Wednesday.

“I look at (Peet) now and say to myself, 'That was me before I had autism in my life,’ and until she walks in our shoes, she really has no idea," McCarthy added.

From "across the pond":- I've just visited the Ecorazzi site and I'm very, very puzzled. If it's an "eco" site how come there are so many people who are so strongly in favour of vaccination? It's usually the other way around.

Jenny needs our help with this poll. Come on over to this site and vote for Jenny. Do not let the techno geeks run us over

I wonder who involved the LA Times in changing the subject? I think that Jenny would remind them that it is not about her, it has always been about her son and all others affected by Autism.
The times has lowered itself to a Junior High level about a very important issue. They should use their power to investigate instead of trying to pit 2 women against each other, especially since Jenny states over and over that she is not anti vaccine.

My money's on Jenny too - esp after seeing her on GMA...she is speaking from truth and experience and to help others. You can't go wrong with that.

I wish people would write the L.A. Times, as I did, and point out what a stupidly inaccurate and polarizing question they're asking.

Jenny McCarthy does not represent the "no vaccine" camp. She vaccinated her child. She says she is pro-vaccine. She urges others to read about vaccines. Her message boils down to promoting consumer education.

Bill Maher's philosophy is far closer to an anti-vaccine stance. But I suppose he flunked the swimsuit competition.

The LA Times today had the piece,
Innoculate this: Amanda Peet, Jenny McCarthy's verbal vaccine war,http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2008/09/whose-side-are.html.

They asked the question, "Whose side are you on, dear reader? Team Amanda Peet or Team Jenny McCarthy?"

And they reported, "How did new mom Peet get involved with the Every Child by Two group?

"Word is that the American Academy of Pediatrics put out a casting call for a star representative to combat McCarthy's anti-vaccine campaigning. Peet, in a word, auditioned for the role."

Well, Jenny McCarthy didn't audition for the role she's in. It was thrust on her when her son was vaccinated.

Personally, my money's on the mom who saw vaccine damage first-hand when her son developed seizures and autism following vaccinations.
