CondomsParents, you might want to teach your daughters and sons alike about condoms. They help prevent STD's like genital warts (HPV), HIV infection and pregnancy too.  (Of course, teaching abstinence is an option too.) Gardasil has been plagued by adverse reactions and was never tested in girls under 15. The FDA approved its use for 11 year olds though.

Meanwhile, the quest to find the killer tomatoes continues...

Giving it to boys means Merck will "expand their market" or try to double it and "increase their bottom line".I hope the parents, girls and boys will look deeper and understand that
you can not create health with an aluminum, polysorbate, boric acid vaccine. Gardasil is all about lies and money. This fast tracked vaccine had not been tested properly.Long term effects are unknown and short term results indicate 6-8% serious adverse reactions and health problems after vaccinations.

"Boys, of course, don't get pregnant, so they are being sacrificed for the sake of protecting pregnant women. Why not do the same with HPV?"

Good point. There is a difference between rubella and HPV that almost ALL women get rubella vaccination, whereas not all girls are vaccinated against HPV (only 4 of the hundreds of strains).

So with rubella, because almost all women are supposedly immune, it shouldn't matter whether they come in contact with a man who has it (except for the rare cases where a woman "can't get the vaccine..." Or so goes the pro-vax argument that everyone gets vaccinated to protect the few who truly cannot be vaccinated for some reason). With HPV on the other hand, not all women are vaccinated, so I suppose the argument could be made that the possibility of a woman getting it from a man is greater..

An argument which immidiately falls apart if one believes that HPV vaccination actually protects against HPV (and only four strains, plus whatever cross-protection *might* happen, at that).

The big question with rubella is this - does the immunity last from the MMR shot till child-bearing age? (This is Jepson's argument in Changing the Course of Autism)? I'm not sure if it does, even if it does protect against it at all (it would be unethical to test this of course).

Another question is, even if MMR does continue to protect against acute *appearance* of rubella infection at child-bearing age, does it protect against the teratogenic effects on the fetus (even in the absence of noticeable acute rubella infection)? For that matter, could such 'sub-clinical' rubella infection be a cause of birth defects today?

Has anyone done a study looking at birth-defect rates and MMR vaccination? Might be interesting - though possibly unwise given the fact that MMR is already hypothesized to be a trigger/cause for autism, and there are plenty of people who want nothing more than for all evidence even possibly pointing in that direction to just be buried.. (so don't add fuel to the fire).

The HPV For Boys logic has already be used before. The official rationale for the rubella vaccine is to prevent birth defects, because a rubella infection in a pregnant woman can lead to that. Boys, of course, don't get pregnant, so they are being sacrificed for the sake of protecting pregnant women. Why not do the same with HPV? Especially when $1.4 billion is at stake.

Speaking of Gardasil, anyone see this news story on MSN Health?
'HPV Vaccine for Boys? It Just Might Happen'

Really? I'm trying to determine why anyone would think that was a good idea. Ummm, oh wait...that's right, money and greed.

No offense taken on my part with the condom comments - heck, women get pregnant using condoms too. No prophylactic is perfect. And this post is NOT about sex, having sex, having sex outside of marriage, before marriage, etc. My point is that that Gardasil protects againts a tiny percentage of HPV that leads to most cervical cancer but that has terrible side effects for some recipients. A condom could be as effective as Gardasil for HPV (I think that depends if the condom covers the wart or not on the penis, yes I just said penis on Age of Autism, so sue me) and a whole lot of other unintended consequences of sex.

KS :)

I would like to know who makes those condom dresses and if anyone ever wears them? I mean would you be turned away from Prom by actually wearing this dress? Anyways, "One Less" can mean a lot of things.... Happy Late Father's Day to everyone..

This was posted yesterday on vaccinationnews.com

These studies are post approval, meaning more adverse events were detected. Instead of recalling the vaccine, all they need to do is add the new adverse events to the label, and call it another approval. If only real life could be that easy!

June 16, 2008 - Product Approval Information Human Papillomavirus Quadrivalent (Types 6, 11, 16, 18) Vaccine, Recombinant Gardasil - Merck & Co., Inc, License #0002 - FDA/CBER - "Changes to the package insert: To include arthralgia, myalgia, asthenia, fatigue, and malaise in the Adverse Reactions section of the package insert to reflect reports received during post-marketing surveillance, to include corresponding changes to the patient package insert, and to include additional minor editorial changes to the package insert June 12, 2008 Approval Letter"

First, I know I'm preaching to the choir... I am seeing RED and that is NOT a good thing!

LJ - EVERYBODY KNOWS that condoms are NOT infallible - even with proper use! DUH!

Yeh... this whole tomato situation has me totally ticked! Two hundred or so people get sick and it's a worldwide manhunt to find the "killer tomatoes". Those two hundred sick are evidently not acceptable collateral damage for the world supply of tomatoes.

Yet we have an entire generation of sick children, and hundreds of thousands of children who have autism and nothing is being done!

I wonder what it would be like if those who had gotten sick had been denied their illness as has happened to our children. Nope... "No soup for you [for life]"! But here's another vaccine!

Seeing red, red in the face, shaking, and quite done! This mother has been pushed too far by it all! I'll let ya all know how that works its' self out because it most certainly will. Thanks for the vent!

“My apologies if I offended your knowledge of condom use. In my experience, many people don't seem to be very well informed about STD transmission. Therefore, I think it's good to share information whenever possible, in the hopes that someone somewhere will benefit. So sorry to to be soooo far out of line.”

According to the CDC’s website, Kim is correct:

“Sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, correct and consistent use of latex condoms can reduce the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including discharge and genital ulcer diseases. While the effect of condoms in preventing human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is unknown, condom use has been associated with a lower rate of cervical cancer, an HPV-associated disease.”

So now that you know what the *official government* stance is on condoms and STD’s here’s the important point and reason why the article was posted in the first place:

“Dr. Harper said that there has not been enough post-marketing surveillance of Gardasil to insure that it is free of side effects that could prove particularly dangerous to young girls. “We don’t know yet what’s going to happen when millions of doses of the vaccine have been given and to put in place a process that says you must have this vaccine, it means you must be part of a big public experiment.”

Got it?

Everytime I see a TV ad telling viewers to make their daughters "one less," I think of the reports of death connected to this vaccine. "One less" has a frightening ring to it.

Dan please hire LJ

"Just to clarify, HPV can be transmitted even with proper condom usage."

LJ, where would we be without you! Should we ask Dan if there is a vacany, maybe he could hire you as a proofwriter. Seems like AoA keeps getting it wrong.

Just to clarify, HPV can be transmitted even with proper condom usage.

My daughters want to be one less to get this vaccine

"Gardasil was approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in June 2006. At the time of its approval, Merck & Co. said that clinical trials had proven the vaccine to be between 90-100% effective in preventing the transmission of some strains of HPV that cause cervical cancer."

Sure it's effective. They can't get HPV if they're DEAD!

"Merck’s heavy promotion of Gardasil has been effective, as some analysts estimate that Gardasil could net the company as much as $1.4 billion in its first full year on the market."

Wait, don't the Vaccine Thugs say that vaccines aren't profitable? Oy!!!

Autism mom

This vaccine seems to be particularly lethal, kids are dropping like flies! Or maybe its the last straw for them given the prior vaccine assault.

Sounds like another case of STDS...Sudden Teenage Death Syndrome. Total coincidence, I'm sure.
