PROM DEATHS? MEASLES DEATHS?

Brady_bunchIt's Prom season. How many American kids will die in car accidents between now and mid-June? How many of the 64 (epidemic!) people who contracted measles according to the article below died?

Yanno, when the BRADY BUNCH runs an episode about a disease back in 1969, we rather assume it's not a major killer in America.....

Federal health officials warned Thursday that the United States could be on the verge of a major outbreak of measles.

The official tally of measles cases between Jan. 1 and April 25 was 64, the highest in recent years, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said.

FORCED ANARCHY

If measles were such a bad disease then why on Earth would I be willing to be exposed to them as part of the documentary I am doing? They are a part of life, and not the big killer the CDC is trying to say they are.

FORCED ANARCHY

Measles is not the big bad killer the CDC would like people to think it is. I am an anti vaccine advocate and I am a film maker who is working on an anti vaccine documentary. I am so convinced that it is not the big bad killer they say it is that I am willing to be exposed to them and keep a video diary of the experience as a part of my project. The same goes for the other childhood diseases which I never had such as mumps, rubella, or chickenpox (don't know how I skipped that one as a kid).

I have a strong immune system and while these things might be a tad bit worse as an adult I know I will be no worse for wear after the experience.

Dumb and dumber

"Why should it be on the shoulders of Americans to be fully immunized (under the threat of imprisonment in some cases) while we let people enter our country who don’t have to meet the same standards??? Looks like the “one plane ride away” scare tactic only applies to Americans traveling to other countries but doesn’t equally apply to those who enter our country."

Oh but it does - for people who are dumb enough to be immunized BEFORE they come into this country - the *great* America - of corrupt greedy Big Pharma!! And then those who are even more dumb enough to be immunized again for immigration purposes. Just because the developing country was so backward that it failed to give any kind of immunization record because they were busy lining up kids at schools or wherever to vax them based on the wonderful "research" of the developed countries "like-America" (the great)!!

The scare tactics are only to get the American public to get vaccinated so that Big Pharma can make profits. BTW, yes, they do think you are stupid. So were we till we got to know better.

"The measles vaccine is 99% effective"...BUT you forgot to add this "the remaining 1% GET AUTISM!!"

Kelli Ann Davis

“Officials think all but 10 cases were either acquired overseas or linked to a chain of transmission that originated in another country.”

First, isn’t it absolutely amazing that the CDC can count the *exact* number of measles cases and figure out the *exact* transmission chain yet they can’t figure out if autism numbers have increased in our own country?

Second, if these cases were acquired overseas (third world country?) why the he** are we letting them into *OUR* country without proof of an updated immunization record?? Why should it be on the shoulders of Americans to be fully immunized (under the threat of imprisonment in some cases) while we let people enter our country who don’t have to meet the same standards??? Looks like the “one plane ride away” scare tactic only applies to Americans traveling to other countries but doesn’t equally apply to those who enter our country.

Third, notice how they mention the “international church conference” as if to imply that the outbreaks are due to religious exemptions? Aren’t they sly!

Do they really think we’re that stupid? Seriously?

I see the story notes this information:

"The worst year for measles was 1958, according to modern public-health records. More than 763,000 cases were reported that year, including 552 deaths."

I wonder what happened in the 11 years between 1958 and that "Brady" episode?

Oh ... "The first measles vaccine was licensed for use in the U.S. in 1963."

Monica, Here is what I found when researching hepatitis B incidence in my Scandals column "The CDC and "The New Math", where 1 + 1 does not equal 2" (http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Scandals/March_29_02/Scandal10.htm )

"The hepatitis B vaccine is widely promoted, even mandated, based on the proposition that the hepatitis B virus is both serious and widespread. Unfortunately, the statistics and 'science' used to promote this idea are of questionable validity.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have made highly discrepant claims about the incidence of new infections each year. In their '....Comprehensive Strategy for Eliminating Transmission...' (of hepatitis B in the United States), they claim that between 1980 and 1991 there were an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 new cases of hepatitis B each year. In a 1998 article the CDC estimates 323,462 were infected annually between 1976 and 1980, while 334,863 were infected annually from 1988-1994. However, in their Hepatitis B Fact Sheet, the estimate rises to 'an average of 450,000' new cases in the 1980's.

Which is it, CDC?

They allegedly arrive at these numbers using 'catalytic modeling' based on serum sampling of hepatitis B markers employed to derive the proportion of unreported and asymptomatic cases. Were they not to do so, the reported cases would be strikingly low, ranging from 18,003 (in 1991) to 26,611 (in 1985), hardly enough to get very excited about."

The sad truth would appear to be that the CDC has a long, troubled history of exaggerating the incidence of diseases and their consequences, while ignoring/dismissing/failing to study the consequences of vaccination.

Monica

WHEN will the CDC stop LYING to us?????

"The official tally of measles cases between Jan. 1 and April 25 was 64, the highest in recent years, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said."

Why is it, when one checks the MMWR- Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report from the CDC, the report that tracks outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases. The report is released each Friday, and reflects outbreaks the previous week, cumulative for that year, and totals for the past 5 years

Here is this weeks report (which refelects last weeks totals)- http://www.cdc.gov/mmwR/PDF/wk/mm5717.pdf

If you look at the table on page 16, you will see outbreaks of each VPD, listed by by year, and cumulative for the current year.

As of April 26th 2008, there have been 29 cases of measles in the US.
No cases of measles have been reported from April 19th to April 26th

So, where is the CDC getting the numbers for this outbreak, and why are these cases not reported in the MMWR? Is the article wrong, is the CDC wrong? Is the MMWR wrong? Could this article be a scare tactic to promote our insane vaccination program? Is it even LEGAL for them to lie?

Is this simply spin put in place to overcome the nasty news we have had recently about vaccines?

I never realized how crooked our government was, until I typed autism into google.

“Thirteen of the U.S. cases were children younger than 1; children usually don't get their first measles shot until they're at least 1 because their immune systems are considered too immature to produce the needed response.”

This is a bunch of BS. The reason we don’t vaccinate children younger than 12 months is that the innate immunity (what the baby was provide at birth by transfer from mom) makes the measles vaccine ineffective. Therefore, they wait unit the innate immunity wanes away before vaccinating against measles. Perhaps, in these cases mom was vaccinated as a child and never received full immunity. Therefore, mom could not transfer measles immunity to the child at birth. Once again the vaccine industry has never addressed the generational consequences of their overly aggressive vaccine program.

healingjack,

You took the words right out of my mouth!

Oh, so Marsha wasn't rendered infertile in that episode? Peter didn't die and Cindy didn't go deaf?

If every dime which had ever been spent on behalf of vaccine-injuries (imagining a wonderful world in which there were none) were spent instead on ending global poverty, improving natural (GMO-free) agriculture and engineering an adaquate, clean water supply for the Third World, I wonder whether measles might be no more of a threat to the poor than it was to the Bradys.

John Stone

If the UK experience is anything to go by it will be quite hard to disentangle significant information from political manipualtion. I wonder if it is at all likely that indigenous US measles has dwindled to such low levels or whether it tends to exist at sub-clinical, unreported level, noticed only when in suits the authorities to make a meal of it. For instance, in Europe in 2001-2 there were recorded 18,000 cases, but probably as this report admits, many more unreported:

http://www.eurosurveillance.org/ViewArticle.aspx?ArticleId=414

Also, measles was implicated only in two deaths, one tenuously in an adult with a likely fatal lung condition, and a pre-vaccination age infant. In no report that I have read is it possible to determine the number of cases which are unvaccinated because infants are pre-vaccination age in a vaccinated community. This is just one of the problems.

With the Wakefield hearing underway in the UK we suddenly find ourselves in the grip of a terrifying measles epidemic:

http://www.theoneclickgroup.co.uk/news.php?start=1960&end=1980&view=yes&id=2348#newspost

(Note the unfounded allegation by the president of AAP of UK measles due to falling vaccination rates.) I am afraid that in the US too, as the vaccine programme comes under fire, that you are suddenly going to hear a lot more about measles.

Well, whoopdie [insert profanity] doo...

"The official tally of measles cases between Jan. 1 and April 25 was 64, the highest in recent years, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said."

And how many kids were diagnosed with autism during that same time period???? How many kids with severe food allergies, asthma, learning disabilities, conduct disorders, mood disorders?????

Sjeesh, louise.. So WHEN will we [collective society we] STOP worrying about childhood diseases that, in most cases, don't have any lasting consequences and START worrying about the really important stuff??

Does anybody outside of this community even give a [insert another profanity]?

Terri Lewis

I just sent an e-mail to Deborah Shelton.

Anybody have a phone number?

In the article it was stated that "Thirteen of the U.S. cases were children younger than 1; children usually don't get their first measles shot until they're at least 1 because their immune systems are considered too immature to produce the needed response."

The main reason that measles vaccination is not given at this age is that transplacental maternal antibodies interfere with measles vaccine antibody production. For more on this go to Scandals: What Is Wrong With This Picture? (http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Scandals/Feb_1_02/Scandals2_1_02.htm )

The big concern, in my opinion, is that we may have made measles more deadly because of the measles vaccine. I have written a number of Scandals articles on measles, listed below and which can be found at http://www.vaccinationnews.com/Scandals/past_scandals.htm .

Lol I remember that episode.

Yeah, the measles are right up there with smallpox. Now watch in 15 years we'll be hearing about looming epidemics of that deadly disease chicken pox.

Check out their manipulation of statistics!

"Symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. But about 1 in 5 measles patients experiences illness that can include diarrhea, ear infections, pneumonia, encephalitis, and even seizures and death."

Linking those "illnesses" (note they didn't say symptoms, conditions, or secondary infections!), which begin with diarrhea and end in death, is a classic statistical fallacy. It's misleading and over-generalizing, but quite typical in these sorts of articles.

healingjack

I guess if there are so many people vaccinated, they don't have to worry about it right? If the vaccines do their jobs - those people don't have to worry! Or do they? People seem to forget that you can be vaccinated for the same thing numerous times and never build antibodies too. If 64 people with measles is an epidemic........what is 1 out of 150 kids diagnosed with ASD?
