I would also like to state that I find it highly disturbing that the AAP would state in this letter to Anne Sweeney that the AAP knows many
people trust information presented on fictional TV to dictate their healthcare. Well, I guess you set it up that way, didn't you? Along with Pharmaceutical Companies, the CDC, FDA, and Big Media? All the commercials on TV for pharmaceuticals, and promotion of vaccines. Those poor people look so miserable, scared, and sick. Then they get the vaccine or take the drug and life is perfect! That is the real fictional
TV. God forbid someone should question any information presented on TV whether fiction or non-fiction. Quite honestly, I find your assumption
about the American public, our thought process, and your insinuation of our inability to make educated healthcare decisions to be highly
offensive!

I find it pathetic that the AAP, an organization of 60,000 physicians, would attempt to place an increase in disease and death at the feet of an organization entitled to free speech under the Constitution of the United States and Bill of Rights; "ABC will bear the responsibility for
the needless suffering and potential deaths of children from parents' decisions not to immunize based on the content of the episode." I believe you have something to hide if you have to use coercion and intimidation to get your need met. And your need appears to be that in which no information be circulating that may lead parents and the general public to question anything they are told by their physicians. And I believe that need to be significant.

Measles... I was vaccinated. I got them. I survived. Whooping cough
(pertussis)... My older kids were vaccinated. They all got it. They
survived, in spite of their doctor (Physician's Assistant) who refused
to believe it was whooping cough because he had been conditioned that
vaccines prevent disease, and also in spite of the fact that all three
of them were confirmed by my county Public Health Nurse to have whooping
cough. I suppose you'll say the nurse was wrong, over a PA who worked
for an AAP doctor's office?

There is a link between vaccines and autism. The AAP refuses to listen
and refuses to acknowledge the mistakes that were and continue to be
made. That would be too costly! What is more costly; getting children
the help they need now and preventing the epidemic from worsening? Or
continuing for God knows how long to pay for life long care and have
that fall back on the government once these children become adults? I
would also ask how many deaths due to vaccination? Those deaths for the
most part are grossly under-reported to VAERS aren't they? One of the
vaccines from the same lot and in my area, the one that pushed my
younger son to the edge, was given to another child within a month of my
son receiving it, and that child died. Can you explain that? Can you
explain how another single vaccine later pushed him over the edge and
into the world of autism? Can you explain the same issue for my older
son who has autism as well? One single vaccine that pushed him into a
world of his own? Parents who make the decision to not or no longer
vaccinate are not relying on TV. Unfortunately, we are relying on real
life experiences. I'll spare you the story of my older daughter. I know
you would not be able to objectively look at all the evidence I have and
objectively decipher the information and objectively realize as I did
that it was vaccines that caused her the pain that they did.

Vaccines ARE NOT "the single most powerful, cost-effective public health
intervention ever developed"! Clean water and sanitation are the
single-most powerful and cost-effective public health interventions ever
developed! I guess you along with the PA who refused to believe that my
kids had whooping cough need a refresher course in disease history, and
when they really began to decline.

Mercury is still in vaccines. It is clearly a deceptive tactic for the
AAP to request that should ABC persist in airing the show "to include a
disclaimer emphasizing: No mercury is used as a preservative in
routinely offered childhood vaccines". Why not include a disclaimer
stating that vaccines still contain a trace amount of mercury from the
manufacturing process, mercury is no longer used as a preservative in
most routine childhood vaccines, with the exception of the newly
mandated flu vaccine for children beginning in 2008? How about the
truth. For once, how about telling the truth! You can't and you won't!

And last, I have to add and ask the AAP to question; how far away from
this is the AAP really? It seems not far... And I quote: "Unless we put
Medical Freedom into the Constitution, the time will come when medicine
will organize into an undercover dictatorshi. To restrict the art of
healing to one class of men, and deny equal privilege to others, will be
to constitute the Bastille of Medical Science. All such laws are
un-American and despotic and have no place in a Republic . The
Constitution of this Republic should make special privilege for Medical
Freedom as well as Religious Freedom."
