Trends in Hospitalizations of Children With Inflammatory Bowel Disease Within the United States From 2000 to 2009

Science post imageBackground: The incidence and prevalence of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) seems to be increasing in North America and Europe. Our objective was to evaluate hospitalization rates in children
with IBD in the United States during the decade 2000 to 2009.

Methods: We analyzed cases with a discharge diagnosis of Crohn disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) within the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project Kids’ Inpatient Database, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Results: We identified 61,779 pediatric discharges with a diagnosis of IBD (CD, 39,451 cases; UC, 22,328 cases). The number of hospitalized children with IBD increased from 11,928 to 19,568 (incidence, 43.5Y71.5 cases per 10,000 discharges per year; P G 0.001). For CD, the number increased from 7757 to 12,441 (incidence, 28.3Y45.0; P G 0.001)and for UC, 4171 to 7127 (15.2Y26.0; P G 0.001).

Overall, there was a significant increasing trend for pediatric hospitalizations with IBD, CD,
and UC (P G 0.001). In addition, there was an increase in IBD-related complications and comorbid disease burden (P G 0.01).

Conclusion: There was a significant increase in the number and incidence of hospitalized children with IBD in the United States from 2000 to 2009.  Read the full text at American Federation for Medical Research.

And -- Martha we are probably talking about damage to the hypothalamus - so the recent upsurge in numbers of kids with autism, and as Vistor's excellant U Tube with Dr. Rose speaking about the sudden up turn in autoimmune diseases-- it is probably vaccines.

But really anything that could hurt the hypothalamus would cause inflammation of the gut, and autism.

Benedetta

Martha;
As long as I am able to tell you that it was the vaccines that really harmed my kids and husband shortly after all thier vaccines; then okay.

But I do wonder how much it mattered about parents being vaccinated as well?

Martha Moyer

Don't attribute everything to vaccines. Lots of things can contribute to autism! My son with born with autism and had not had a chance yet to be vaccinated; however, today he has a severe bowel condition and he is not a child but nearly 40 years old with autism and IDD.

No mention of Dr Wakefield's early observations?
How come???? He was the first observer and sounded the alarm!!

This talk by Dr.Rose may be more than you want to watch, but take a look at the section from 29:26 through 32:03 in regard to autoimmunity. It is progress when people like this state autoimmunity as a disease is increasing. Some of the talk after this is also worthwhile.

This generation got hit hard with vaccines and GM and pesticide doused food. Meanwhile, the "experts" have no idea what happened or they pretend to have no idea or they've been paid to have no idea. They have to do more research that will keep them employed while kids continue to be poisoned. It is unknown what effect the poisoning will have on future generations even if all of it ended today, but animal studies show effects in offspring. But the experts are clueless.

"Conclusion: There was a significant increase in the number and incidence of hospitalized children with IBD in the United States from 2000 to 2009."

In those years immediately following a "significant increase in childhood vaccines then containing significantly unsafe levels of mercury in the form of thimerosal" .. there was also a significant increase in a whole host of chronic autoimmune disorders .. including autism and type 1 diabetes .. to name just two of many more chronic autoimmune disorders.

Nah .. it can't be the significant increase in childhood vaccinations that caused .. and .. continues to cause .. chronic autoimmune disorders that were far LESS COMMON IN ALL PREVIOUS .. LESS VACCINATED .. GENERATIONS.

When will the maddness END.
