From John Gilmore: Shrunk

Great comment from John Gilmore of Autism Action Network on NY Times story on DSM-V: "This is to be expected from the Times. If anything the New York Times sees itself as the stentorian voice of the secular credentialed elites....

Vaccine Injury Causes Life Changing Narcolepsy in European Children

How-to-get-rid-of-narcolepsyAmerican doctors, public health and government officials are quick to tell the public that immunization against "vaccine preventable disease" (which is merely a phrase for any vaccine that has been developed, without regard to the severity or danger of the disease it was designed to prevent) is an imperative cornerstone of healthcare. To refuse a vaccine is to rend the American social contract in two. To question vaccine safety is to join the ranks of the "anti-vaccine" (we meet the third Tuesday of every month at the Grange Hall, donuts and coffee provided.)  During the Swine Flu outbreak in 2010, Health and Human Services Director Kathleen Sebelius said in an interview with Reader's Digest:

RD:What can be done about public mistrust of vaccines?

KS:There are groups out there that insist that vaccines are responsible for a variety of problems despite all scientific evidence to the contrary. We have reached out to media outlets to try to get them to not give the views of these people equal weight in their reporting to what science has shown and continues to show about the safety of vaccines.

"...not to give them equal weight..."  However, when a vaccine issue becomes patently obvious, reports occasionally appear, like this report on European children suffering from narcolepsy.

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Emelie is plagued by hallucinations and nightmares. When she wakes up, she's often paralyzed, unable to breathe properly or call for help. During the day she can barely stay awake, and often misses school or having fun with friends. She is only 14, but at times she has wondered if her life is worth living.

Emelie is one of around 800 children in Sweden and elsewhere in Europe who developed narcolepsy, an incurable sleep disorder, after being immunized with the Pandemrix H1N1 swine flu vaccine made by British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline in 2009.

Finland, Norway, Ireland and France have seen spikes in narcolepsy cases, too, and people familiar with the results of a soon-to-be-published study in Britain have told Reuters it will show a similar pattern in children there. Read more.

Oh I forgot correlation does not mean causation --
unless it really does.

So much for bothering about quoting from Dr. Mignot.

I am not connected anyway to anything.
But Everybody that takes the flu shot complains about -that it causes them to get the flu, or they come down with something like the flu.

They are lucky if that is all it does.
Our preacher's wife got her flu shot and went shopping - became very ill - her skin turned very red, her eyes turned all red. She went back to the ER and they told her it was the flu vaccine. Now there is a surprise.

Immediately after all of her joints were a mess-three years later a knee replacement - now she is waiting around for another knee transplant.

Meanwhile - better get that flu shot -- as the signs tells us in Wal Mart, or Sams, or Rite Aid. There is a big bad flu out there.

Is it as bad as turning you solid red, making you sick, and getting knee replacements.

I suppose that is better than falling asleep when you try to eat in a third world country.

Wonder what triggered the narcolepsy in Uganda's children?
Not only that there is a connection in eating - it makes them fall asleep every time they try to eat.

Up to 30 per cent of Finns have the genetic predisposition to develop narcolepsy, but very few ever actually get the disease. The link between the Pandemrix swine flu vaccine and children’s narcolepsy has been confirmed in Finland. The Pandemrix swine flu vaccine gave a 13-fold increase in the risk of children and young people to come down with the disease. When the disease unexpectedly increases so much, it is logical to think that the external factor in these cases of narcolepsy was the Pandemrix swine flu vaccine.

Frankly, even if there is a connection between influenza and narcolepsy there would be an issue of whether the risk would be greater from vaccines which are given every year or natural influenza infections which are much more indispersed (for instance I have only had two in the last 30 years and last time it was almost certainly not vaccine strain), and I am not sure where the presumption comes from it is the same people that would acquire narcolepsy whether naturally or from vaccine (as opposed, for instance, to just random).

The study you mention is not available on-line nor does it have an abstract. However, an earlier declaration from Dr Mignot discloses:

"Dr. Mignot owns mutual funds with Resmed and has received research support from Jazz, Actelion, and Cephalon. He is on the advisory board of Eli Lily and Actelion and has received lecture fees from Roche."

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3250357/

So he plainly has a wopping conflict.

Since a study from Stanford University narcolepsy expert Dr. Emmanuel Mignot suggests that influenza infection triggers the development of narcolepsy in susceptible children, and since data published this week suggests that one-third of kids 0-4 years of age and one-half of kids 5-17 years of age were infected with H1N1 during just the first year of the pandemic (that doesn't count infection from other circulating influenza strains), it's interesting to consider whether the vaccine caused or prevented more cases of narcolepsy.

It's sad to acquire narcolepsy either way, but another recent study (published last month) from Dr. Mignot shows that fewer cases of narcolepsy developed in the years following the pandemic, suggesting that the susceptible individuals who developed the condition during the pandemic might well have developed that condition, anyway, somewhat later.

Yes, the Finnish Government has already agreed to compensate all H1N1 vaccine narcolepsy victims. This vaccine contained a not properly tested adjuvent called squalene. The vaccine was 'fast tracked' in response to a great deal of public scaremongering about an imminent epidemic of swine flu,(which never materialised).

I received this H1H1 vaccine, in addition to the 'normal' annual flu shot.....yawn......yawn....excuse me I'm falling asleep.(Just joking!)

From the article:

"She reluctantly accepts that to do so, she needs a cocktail of drugs to try to control the narcolepsy symptoms. The stimulant Ritalin and the sleeping pill Sobril are prescribed for Emelie's daytime sleepiness and night terrors. Then there's Prozac to try to stabilize her and limit her cataplexies.

"That's one of the things that makes me feel most uncomfortable," she explains. "Before I got this condition I didn't take any pills, and now I have to take lots - maybe for the rest of my life. It's not good to take so many medicines, especially when you know they have side effects."

My heart goes out to this very unfortunate young woman .. her life will most likely never be the same as it was before she was vaccinated.

Unfortunately .. I suspect pharma is not all that troubled by her plight .. after all .. they stand ready to provide her with all the Ritalin, Sobril and Prozac pills she can afford to pay for .. as she says .. probably for the rest of her life.

How do these people sleep at night?
