I just heard the comment from a minority mom on services and i can say i got told that the bad parents get services. Why is that? If they are such bad parents why keep throwing supports at some while shortchanging the rest of us trying to work and keep our kids off medicaid etc? I think it is time to create a better national strategy for funding and services from dr, providers and the like. Each state has a haphazard process and some are better than others. I did my research and moved and i found 2 states did a better job than others. Stop doing just medical research on the DNA but the other medical issues that we now know exist and provide supports in the home. Please!!! Some drs are now refusing to treat autistic adults creating a need for us to go to the Er and that is not working and costing to much.

I can't wait to hear Thomas Insel's opening remarks. Is he going to say the same things he said at NIH in 2010? https://webmeeting.nih.gov/p53171631/
There he said,
"Eighty percent of the people with a diagnosis of autism [in the U.S.] are under the age of eighteen." Insel described it as "a huge wave that is moving through the system."
He also shrugged his shoulders and admitted having no answers about what's causing the exponential increase.
"What's probably more striking here is what we don't know."
Incredibly, he carefully avoided actually describing autism as a crisis.
“We have responded to this AS IF IT'S A CRISIS. WE SEE THIS AS AN ENORMOUS PUBLIC HEALTH CHALLENGE. If you look at those numbers, the increase and recognize how many of those kids will become adults, we ...also need to be thinking about how we prepare the nation for a million people who may need significant amounts of services as they are no longer cared for by their parents or as their parents are no longer around."
Or is he going admit that after years of running the IACC he's no closer to knowing anything for sure about autism. We’ve lost a generation of children to autism under his watch. Maybe he should just hand in his resignation and quietly exit the side door.

Peter Bell, M.B.A.
Executive Vice President of Programs and Services, Autism Speaks
Is he going to talk about epilespy?
They are having a big conference in Chicago - I keep getting emails about new findings, there is excitment in the emails, they are discussing inflammation.
I wish the would get some of the doctors/scientist from that Chicago conference to come in and report.
I don't know why a M.B.A. even if Bell is really smart would deliver this?
Well we will see what kind of job he will do tomorrow.
