    Autism Symptoms

If you know little about calcium bentonite clay baths, understand that a clay bath treatment gets its results from its incredible ability to absorb toxins that are excreted through the pores of the skin. In fact, one clay bath can actually release years of toxic pollutants such as mercury and other metals out of your body and into the bath tub. A lot of stress is placed on the body when taking oral chelators for the removal of metal toxins. Jason Eaton, an expert on clay baths, recommends clay baths for detoxing and chelation. Clay baths can safely be used to remove metal toxins, treat radiation, chemical, and pesticide exposure.

MMR vaccines. Stop vaccinating with this. Get these shots as your child gets years older and get them seperate not as a mixed cocktail shot. It is truely one if not the only reason our children are suffering. California still vaccintaes seperately. I wonder the amount of children in this state have Autism compared to the rest. Maybe this should be the next study. But the child has to be compared to the child who gets MMR vs the 3 shots seperate. Lets show that statistic. Then we can begin discounting the possibility of vaccinations.

    Concerned Reader,

If you follow the bemused group of medical miscreants known as the Oraccolytes, you'd know that they continually give each other high 5's (when they aren't insulting anyone they disagree with) over the fact that vaccination rates are up. Don't you know how to read the CDC propaganda?

    http://www.aafp.org/online/en/home/publications/news/news-now/clinical-care-research/20090114kids-teens-vacc-rates.html

In the words of the colossal moron, "I smell a concern troll."

    Natasa

Chris, as an infectious disease scientist you should know very well that there are at least three separate mechanisms through which vaccines could be triggering inflammatory and viral cascades that can lead to emergence of autism symptoms. None of those has been researched in real world (apart from some very very good data from HIV research actually, going against your view http://autismcalciumchannelopathy.attachmentstyleinterview.com/HIV_and_Autism.html). All we have re idiopathic vaccines and autism is epidemiological data.

If you really are a scientist, and not someone posing as one, it beggars belief that you are willing to draw scientific conclusions based on statistics alone.

    Go back do some reading.

    Concerned Reader

If more children are diagnosed with autism now than before, and vaccination rates are lower than they used to be, then how are vaccines causing autism? Shouldn't it be the opposite?

As far as genetics are concerned, here's a good study - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19805709?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=2

As a small bit player in this moron's article, there is no doubt that Amy had an agenda coming into this article. My wife and I spent 20 - 30 minutes talking to this "seemingly" genuine and concerned reporter at AO Chicago. We told her about the science, we told her about our son who was developing above the grade until his 20 month vaccines, we told her about the hardships, the denial and the liars (unbeknownst to us, she was one of them) and the only thing she could print about our very lond and detailed talk, was the fact that I was talking about a toxic world while outside smoking a cigarette (as an adult, knowing full well the "science" that tells me I'm not doing the right thing).
Here was my response to Ms. Wallace's lies, it's somewhat less PC than the fabuloous author's above: http://www.autismtodayonline.com/2009/autism/an-epidemic-of-lies-and-main-stream-media-whoring-itself-to-pharmas-advertising-dollars/

“Wallace's piece did something brave but not atypical for traditional journalism: It delved into a complex and emotionally charged subject with nuance. It presented the best state of current knowledge while acknowledging that true science does not traffic in absolute truths.”

    Henderson,

6 hours after my son's DTaP/MMR at 18 months, he was running a 105 fever and having seizures. His CT scan showed neuroinflammation.

The needle was still practically in his arm when his reaction happened. But, as Chris says, he must be faking it.

    Henderson

Hey Chris - I am so happy that you are an infectious disease doctor. Then, you'll understand, it is not just ASD.

I know a mom whose child went into a type-1 diabetic coma within a few hours of her 18m DTaP/Hib/Polio. Hmmmm.

This mom is much like me (research, research, research). We actually think our children have the same thing - just different genes. The genes loaded the gun, the gestational environment raised the gun, the post-natal environment cocked the gun, weaning put the target squarely between the sights, and the vaccines/antibiotics/viruses pulled the trigger.

For me, it was clearly there, but it came on like a freight train after the two year old double whammy (flu & mengigate on the same day). Oh - and I thought you'd like to know my son has a smallpox looking scar from his 6m DTaP/Hib/Polio.

    Teresa Conrick

    Chris-

You sure are trying hard to discount vaccine injures but it will not work. There are thousands of parents who saw the injuries happen, witnessed their child regress, and now are seeing improvements and even recovery.

Are you now going to say Desiree and all of us as well are also psychogenic? You do know how absurd that is and that lab work showing heavy metal toxicity, chronic bacteria and crazy viral titers had to come from somewhere? The GI issues, mitochondria abnormalities, seizures, convulsions, movement disorders (dystonia included), dysfunctional immune systems, inflammation, etc are all the downstream effects.

As an infectious disease scientist ( as you self report), I am sure vaccines are either a profit for you, worshiped by you, or both therefore you cannot be considered an unbiased source.

Some would say that your manic denial and posts to that nature might show a person who is running out of time....that the dead end gene trail and better diagnosing are losing traction and as they go- you are left with nothing but an infomercial from Paul Offit. I hope you can live with that as it resembles a holocaust guard - stoic, empty of morals, ethics, and not a shred of humanity left.

    Chris

Ms Wallace's report was fair and balanced. The vast majority of scientists have come to the conclusion that vaccines are not a significant factor in autism. The fact that a handful of scientists and many parents believe the opposite does not mean these people get equal time. And yes, I am the parent of an autistic child and an infectious disease scientist so I know exactly what I'm talking about.

    Cherry Sperlin Misra

Thankyou, "we shall overcome" for your historical perspective. And when do we get to start construction on the AUTISM MUSEUM ? or the black granite wall with millions of names of autistic kids engraved. What a fantastic challenge for young budding architects- getting just the right image for all those minds gone up in smoke. And lets keep one wall somewhere for the names and photos of the autism holocaust deniers.
Yes, Ms. Wallace, you shall have your place in history.

"But with (Wired's) advertising down 50 percent through May (2009)" .... at least Horowitz/Wallace created a leave behind for Wired's ad sales reps to try to open Pharmaceutical clients.

    Urtic
It was posted on the top left edge of the article in question right beside her name. If she weren’t accepting private emails in regards to her post then it wouldn't have been there. Yes, I do expect a private email to remain so. If you sent me a private email you would assume that that email was privileged information between you and I, correct? So while I believe she read my email it was to be used and butchered to her liking. I have a feeling she would use emails much like Offit did in his book. You remember don't you? The stuff that he was just sued for?
Also, your assumption that I know nothing of vaccines or the law cannot be further off the mark. I really shouldn't feel the need to tell you that I was a nurse and premed for quite a long time before I became numb to the failure of the mainstream medical community.
Now, Urtic, I am a paralegal and will be attending law school within the next 6 months. So I would say I have a firm grasp on vaccines (and how to read the ENITRE study) and the law, legal research and understanding but thank you so very much for thinking in some way that you are much more intelligent than I. I'm impressed that you hit the nail on the head. Must be nice to live with such delusional and "magical" thinking (I've heard that somewhere before)
Yes, I asked her how if felt to be Offit's whore...so, your point? I've been called names but I don't cry or whine about it nor do I post it or talk about on a radio show to garner some sort of sympathy vote. Ever hear the saying "sticks and stones"? Yea, that's the way I look at it. You just implied that I'm somehow less intelligent that you and I also lack the reasoning skills to make an informed decision about my children when you don't even know the first thing about my children and the reasons I had to stop vaccinating them. This week alone...Nancy Snyderman called me and women like me "dangerous". So what. I could give a flying rats ass what that woman thinks of me. In the grand scheme of things, she doesn't matter to me. She's not our doctor, (well, she doesn't actually practice medicine so I guess she wouldn't be anyone's doctor) so why on earth would it matter what she thought of any of us?
AND I do believe you know where you can put your sympathy for me. No need for a long, drawn out explaination of that right?
    Lisa Jo,
I think you have a great idea. I agree with you but how do we make this debate between scientists happen? This is a debate I would love to be present at.

    Jessica

@ urtic "...you wrote an author a private email, with no expectation that she's accepting private mails in regard to her public article, called her a "whore", ...

Hey, Webster's Dictionary defines a whore as a "venal or unscrupulous person." That pretty much sums it up for me.

She's also a horrible journalist - I guess that's what happens when an ENTERTAINMENT reporter gets an assignment of this magnitude. Did you see her editor has been canned?

    Twyla

    Craig -
Just a suggestion -- You could post your entire email at
    http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/11/readers-respond-part5/#comments
and/or write a comment with further explanation. She wrote, "says this father, who is sure that the MMR and DTaP vaccines caused his son’s suffering. 'There is no other explanation.'” I'm sure you expressed good reasons for believing your son's condition was caused by the vaccines, but she makes it sounds like you are just jumping to a conclusion. (If you don't put complete links in your post it won't be held up for moderation.)

    Instant Karma!

The editor responsible for the article was canned the day the piece was published.

Don't ya just love his Twitter name, markhor.

When I read anything with associated with the CDC,CHOP,and AAP. All that crosses my mind is pathetic , and desperate. Than you again for cutting the crap.

    Angela

Schoolteacher in NYC - very astute post.

    Craig Willoughby

    Urtic,
What would it matter? It is obvious that Ms. Wallace is biased. Hell, she used my sincere and earnest email, cut it up, took it completely out of context, then put it back together as something that was nothing like the original, then used it to rudely dismiss my concerns. That pretty much sums up a hack journalist.
