    Jake,

Thank you for taking the time to read what I wrote.

I am an adult with an Asperger's disorder diagnosis (also known as Asperger's Autism or Autism). Autism is a neurological and biological - MEDICAL MANIFESTATIONS, DISORDER, NOT a disease or mental illness.

Autism is NOT a culture, shared language or "joy."

Individuals with Autism can and do have co-morbid mental health disorders that include but are not limited to: Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and various anxiety disorders. I have diagnosed co-morbid disorders in addition to Autism.

Neurodiversity is the philosophy (NOT movement) that people with ALL disabilities - including Autistic individuals, should have human rights, supports, services, respect, accommodations, medical and biomedical treatment, early intervention and similar things. Neurodiversity supports that people with disabilities - includes Autistic people, are worthwhile, valuable citizens and can become contributing members of society with support, accommodations, medical and biomedical treatment and the rest of what was mentioned above.

    I will write more later.

    Regards,

    Katie
