A description of 1960s France in a book I'm reading: "Tonsils, chickenpox, measles, flu, bronchitis, and all the other mundane afflictions occupy the doctors, along with the births and deaths that march through the years everywhere." Quaint.

1.3 Billion Chinese. 1668 H1N1 Cases. Zero Deaths. Pandemic?

Chinese dollars Is H1N1 just the seasonal flu for 2009/2010 with a new name? Is it a pandemic? What is a pandemic anyway? I think of Anthrax or Ebola and people dying in droves. Feel free to correct me.  KS

From Yahoo News.

BEIJING (AFP) – A Chinese pharmaceutical firm has begun a two-month clinical test of the country's first domestically produced swine flu vaccine, state media reported on Wednesday.

Hualan Biological Engineering Inc completed the vaccine last month and will test it on more than 2,000 volunteers in the city of Taizhou in the eastern province of Jiangsu, Xinhua news agency said, citing a company official.

It said the vaccine for the A(H1N1) virus could hit the market in September -- ahead of the prime winter flu season -- if the trials are successful and that the company could make up to 600,000 doses a day.

The race for a vaccine has heated up, with the World Health Organization's top vaccine researcher, Marie-Paule Kieny, warning this month that all countries need access to vaccines as the virus was "unstoppable".

China has seen 1,668 cases of the virus, according to health ministry statistics, but no deaths have since been reported.

1.3 billion people, 1,668 people with flu, and 0 deaths. Lets see how many deaths are reported after mass vaccinations are carried out. What are the odds?
I guess they will try the vaccine on dispensable sector of the population first.
Run for the hills people.

My son is running a 103.5F temp and obviously has the H1N1 virus. Hate to see him ill but at least now we wont be pressured by the school regarding H1N1 Vaccine compliance.>>

Why does a temp of 103.5 mean he obviously has h1n1???????? Temps have been around as long as humans have. Could be anything

I understand preparedness - and this virus is jumping around quickly across the globe. If it became deadly it could be catastrophic. No one wants that. And everyone who wants the vaccine should have access. That said, the vaccine must be safe and not leave a swathe of injury as bad or worse than the virus. Informed consent. Safety. Choice.

If the swine flu is not killing a large portion of the people who get it, why are we rushing to make a vaccine for it? Are the companies that are going to make BILLIONS from marketing these vaccines just feeding on our fears? Is our government so afraid to say they overestimated the serverity of this flu that they won't back down on what to do about it?

Can I get a vaccine to protect me from all the stupidity about it and one that prevents me from having to take other vaccines I don't need or want.

I heard another person today say that the swine flu vaccine was the mark of the beast.
Is this something being talked about everywhere?

Why do the words volunteers and China bring to mind a picture of people being forced to get the vaccine? Sort of like they plan to do with our kids in school.

Shall we compare the number of vaccine injury cases conceded by vaccine court to the number of deaths due to H1N1?

I just did a story last week on this for my Linderman Live! radio show. There's a russian study out that is claiming that the western countries that are the highest consumers of GM foods are at a far higher risk of being susceptible to this H1N1 Virus. They claim that the Genetically Modified potatos that the bulk of our fast food french fries are made from has a modified chemical that drastically screws up the immune system.
what makes sense to me is one only has to look at where the higher numbers of cases are and wonder if perhaps there isn't some truth to that. Some of the countries with the lowest numbers of cases of H1N1 are those that you would consider to have 'sub standard' health care...yet they won't allow gentically modified foods into their country...so who are the smart ones?
