Managing Editor's Note: Lynda Huggins is a Mother Warrior raising money for the Autism Research Institute Million Dollar Puzzle Campaign. She sent us this note:
Here is an update on the Million Dollar Puzzle. To date we have distributed 182,500 puzzle pieces to 48 states, Norway, Singapore, and 5 locations in Canada (468 cities). We are not yet in Montana or North Dakota. We have forwarded $68,855.79 to the Autism Research Institute. That means that many of those who have received the puzzle packets have not returned any of the donations they have collected.
I am writing to encourage you to go ahead and send in whatever you have collected; no need to wait until you have distributed all the puzzle pieces that you received. We want that total to rise! Many thanks to those of you who have already forwarded your donations to me.
Please make any checks or money orders payable to Autism Research Institute (or ARI). ARI will gladly send a tax receipt to anyone who made a donation and wishes to receive a receipt, Just be sure to note that someone wants a tax receipt when you send in the donations. (Be sure to include mailing address if not included on a check.) Mail the donations to me. (Email Lynda for her address.) oh_mom@yahoo.com

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) reintroduced legislation on vaccine safety (H.R. 2618) that would improve the current system for vaccine safety monitoring in this country.
Currently, the CDC has responsibility for both vaccine safety and promotion, which is an inherent conflict of interest increasingly garnering public criticism. The Vaccines Safety and Public Confidence Assurance Act would give responsibility for the nation’s vaccine safety to an independent agency within the Department of Health and Human Services.
“Vaccines have made a tremendous positive impact on public health,” said Maloney, “but when the government requires them, it must also ensure they are safe. We need adequate, unbiased research on vaccines, and this legislation would deliver that.”

I recently attended a breakfast meeting hosted by our area’s representative to the State House in Harrisburg. Representative Craig Dally, who serves the 138th district in Pennsylvania, invited us for a briefing on the state budget proposals and an opportunity to discuss issues that are important to us.
In advance of this meeting, I sent Rep. Dally a letter, letting him know that I planned to attend the meeting, and that an issue that is important to me is providing Pennsylvanians with a philosophical objection to Department of Education immunization requirements. (PA already has a religious exemption and a medical exemption.) Here is an excerpt from my letter:
… any drug or biological product will have an adverse effect on some percentage of the population—consider, for example, the portion of our population who are allergic to penicillin—making universal vaccination mandates tantamount to state-sponsored assault, Russian roulette-style, on our citizens.

2009 Autism One Conference, Chicago
I first want to say that this conference was described by The New York Times as “an anti-vaccine conference.” And, you know, when I read that I actually laughed out loud. And I thought, “What would you even do at an anti-vaccine conference, anyway?” And I know there are some people in this audience who are anti-vaccine, and they have that right. I just don’t happen to be one of those people.

Now, that’s vaccine mercury. But what about environmental mercury? Like I said, we’re exposed through food, air, water. And air is one of the biggest sources. And there have been plenty of studies. There was this one, done out of Texas - the closer you live to coal-fired power plants, apparently, the greater the risk of autism in school districts. Coal obviously emits a lot of mercury.

Now, few people know this, but there is a Hep B Omnibus Proceeding – or a demyelinating disease Omnibus Proceeding - in Vaccine Court. At least 65 cases have been filed and they’re starting to get paid out, and they’re starting to win. This is just one case that was recently paid out. This was an adult woman. She ended up dying from her vaccine. And the court ruled she got MS from her Hepatitis B vaccine, and that that vaccine damaged her myelin. And they’ve ruled this in other cases, as well.
Well, now we have MMR in Bailey Banks’ case damaging myelin, probably because of the live measles virus. And I forgot to point that out. About 1 in 1,000 kids who get live-type measles virus will develop ADEM. Now we don’t know the rate for vaccines because they haven’t been studied as extensively, but measles virus can cause ADEM; and there is measles virus in the MMR vaccine.

These are some of the things you might want to look for, particularly if you can go back and look at when your kid was younger, because Hannah, I believe, no longer shows these markers. But when she was young, she had these elevated levels and imbalances. And many people I know have gone back and looked at their own kids’ blood work early on, and they’re finding a lot of these same markers.
So, what attacks mitochondria? Thimerosal is one of the things that attack mitochondria.
Contrary to assurances given by the UK Government to leading politicians, fears earlier this year that the Government were moving to make the vaccination schedule compulsory for British citizens [including children] without reference to Parliament, and without public debate seem to be being borne out.
The new law introduced by the backdoor obliges the Secretary of State for Health to implement any recommendations of the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (HERE ). The newly published draft minutes for the JCVI in February (HERE ) disclose that the new status granted it by Health Minister Dawn Primarolo by executive order in January seem designed to tie up with unmentioned provisions in the new National Health Service Constitution.
According to the JCVI minutes the new NHS constitution states:
‘You have the right to receive the vaccinations that the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisation recommend that you should receive under an NHS provided national immunisation programme.’
