The ruling elite are absolutely guilty of this "Jobs for the boys network". It has been the cause of many problems, not least the financial crisis. There are too many positions filled on favor rather than experience and knowledge. This system is nothing less than crazy and has done no end of harm to society and no end of harm to the health of our kids. The sooner we put an end to this 'you scratch my back' syndrome the better for all of us.

I don't know how small the ruling elite is - if I haven't miscounted there are 72 judges on the Queen's Bench operating in the same area of law:

One thing that strikes me about this in retrospect is that if Sir Nigel's sitting on the MMR hearing was inadvertant, why on earth didn't he apologise?

    Thanks for this, John.

    B. Deer writes "The ruling elite remains surprisingly small. But for Mr Stone this discovery is orgasmic: he's been insinuating conspiracy for years".

So let me see if I can get this straight. Because the ruling elite in the U.K. is small-- and it "remains" that power is concentrated into just a few hands (Deer implies has always been so)--this means that conflicts of interest can't occur? And this means that if a society becomes *accostomed* or cozy about having a ruling elite this somehow vanquishes the possibility of corruption?

And this "surprisingly" doesn't change, so Deer assumes that this is allowed to continue because are no past examples of conspiracy in British government?

Gee, I really need to re-read history because aren't there a few examples of absolute power corrupting absolutely?

"... preferring the usual wisdom of an English judge to the frequent insanity of American juries."
Really? I wonder if Brian sent a copy of this comment over to the States to the Vaccine Hearings, along with his article alleging Wakefield altered test results?
I wonder how widely feted he would be if this little gem became widely known in the USA.

    From an earlier comment:

“This conflict of interest allows the GMC/prosecutor, and the reporter/complainant, and the paper/employer/complainant to collude and become the Ministry of Truth.

Perhaps the editor and GMC skipped that author in their literature course.”

Or…does the concept of Orwell’s Ministry of Truth even bother them

The judge’s brother is a director of GlaxoSmithKline! This lack of independent oversight on this issue is an injustice to our children.
