Managing Editor's Note: Paging Dr. Paul Offit! Paging Dr. Nancy Snyderman! Paging the AAP's Dr. David Tayloe! Paging Dr. Harvey Karp! Paging Dr. Max Wiznitzer! Here's your chance to debate the pros and cons of mercury with Dr. Boyd Haley. To reserve your seat, or accept the challenge to share the stage with Dr. Haley, email Tony Farmer at BSU.
MUNCIE, IN (3/9/09) – The Ball State Truth Movement is pleased to announce it will be hosting Dr. Boyd Haley at Ball State’s Pruis Hall on April 20th at 8 p.m.
Haley is a former University of Kentucky professor and Chemistry Department Chair (1996-2005) who has given lectures on the toxic effects of mercury at conferences around the world. Haley, a mercury toxicity expert, has testified before numerous government agencies on the effects of mercury toxicity with regards to neurological diseases and supports the efforts of the Ball State Truth Movement to remove thimerosal-containing vaccines from Ball State’s campus.
This brewing controversy at Ball State has received international media attention on Autism One Radio, Together in Autism, and Age of Autism. The activist organization, which was featured on filmmaker Michael Moore’s website, has also received local media attention: The Star Press in the BSU Daily News Flu Vaccine Challenged and also in the
BSU Daily News Student Protest.
The Truth Movement has contacted dozens of agencies and individuals in an attempt to find someone willing to represent the position that thimerosal is not harmful in a moderated debate. Offers have been extended to officials at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Sanofi Pasteur, the National Network for Immunization Info, and several Indiana Department of Health officials including Commissioner Judith Monroe.
If nobody accepts the Truth Movement’s challenge, Dr. Haley will still represent his perspective on growing thimerosal debate.

I'm so behind. When did Dr. Haley become former? Is he no longer at KY at all?

Tony Farmer, I am rooting for you and am hoping for all the best in your endeavor,...
With due respect,

Garbo, Julie,
An excellent question. On that I'm sure Dr. Haley has near the top of his list. The more significant one is: "Do you know what happens to neurons when they come in contact with mercury, aluminum and testosterone?" He knows the answer to that question also. THEY ALL DIE!

Ooo...good one Garbo! I'd love to know the answer to that myself :)

Most peds don't know red plus blue makes purple, you expect them to know anything about what's in the vaccines they are told to give their patients in order to get paid? Psshaw!

Fantastic! Here's a question maybe you guys can ask, because I'm dying to know:
"The Material Safety Data Sheet for Thimerosal explicitly states that it is not to be combined with aluminum, yet thimerosal-containing vaccines are routinely given alongside aluminum-containing ones, and some vaccines even contain both thimerosal and aluminum. Please discuss how aluminum and mercury behave when combined, and cite which studies show that aluminum and thimerosal are safe when given together parenterally."

I am willing to bet that Dr. Haley will have the stage to himself, with all the time in the world to explain why no one will DARE go against him.
No pro mercury advocate has EVER debated a qualified toxicologist. Arthur Allen and David Kirby have faced off, yes but that does not have the clout that a researcher on researcher debate would carry.
Good on Ball State for trying, but it seems to me that Dr. Haley has been calling for this debate for over 10 years with ZERO TAKERS.
That said, it sure would be one to have a front row seat on! Probably need to have plastic sheeting like at one of those "Gallagher" shows where he used to smash watermelons with a sledge hammer!!!

Let's inject whatever advocate for thimerosal they can find with 100,000 mercury-laden vaccines on stage and see the results. Then they can take questions from the audience. I have a sneaking feeling that the shot-victim will be strangely unable to answer. They can have a chair next to him when he is no longer able to stand upright.

I propose that the person who should debate Dr. Boyd Haley should be Amanda Peet.
She is the one who went on national media to vociferously state that vaccines were safe. Well, now with her celebrity (or she can beget the celebrity she so desires) by getting head to head with Dr. Haley on the pros of vaccines she will be able to effectively deliver the message she desires. They should invite the media in to broadcast this far and wide. Let the public know once for all - "thimerosal in vaccines is safe."

Just think of all the fun that could result if anyone from mainstream medicine had the guts to participate. The old ethyl/schmethyl argument and obscene "gentle bacteriostat" statement could be rehashed ad nauseum, and perhaps put to bed permanently.
Dr. Haley will come across as intelligent and humane, and the others will appear as they truly are. Who needs a Friday the 13th movie? Just film the discourse at Ball State. Jason, look out!

I'd be very disappointed if nobody extended an offer to Amanda Peet.
Love this organization. Compare this to the University of Minnesota where they recently made the Guiness Book of Records for vaccinating 11,000 students on campus in one day with the mercury laced flu vaccine.

Maybe someone from Eli Lilly can visit from Indianapolis? They can give everyone Prozac first to calm them down.
