It all started with a promo. You know, it's Sweeps. News stations want your attention. The promo shouts out, "Do plastic water bottles cause cancer?" I jumped. "Do vaccines cause autism?" I froze. "Busting Medical Myths, Wednesday at 6." I've never run faster to the phone.
Surely they would not report the same old WRONG information. There's no more thimerosal in vaccines and the rate hasn't dropped. It may just be better diagnosis anyway. The CDC says to vaccinate your children according to their schedule. A clip of the same local pediatrician that called my friend cruel for not giving her 4-year-old five vaccines in one day talking about how 14 studies have shown there is no link. Not on my watch!
But this isn't about me. It's about a reporter and a doctor who know how to look for the truth, and a little boy who is proof that treating for vaccine damage can improve symptoms of autism. Hopefully more medical professionals and reporters will decide to start really looking at the facts. Because the facts are there. And if a baby born today at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA, has parents who saw this report and do their research, maybe, JUST MAYBE, that family will avoid the bullet that hit mine.
"In 1999 the government recommended Thimerosal be taken out of vaccines, but according to the government the rates of autism continued to climb. In the last 2 years Dr. Ramos has gone from treating 2 patients with autism to about 50. "I truly believe that vaccines contribute to most of the cases of autism that we're seeing or to the rise of Autism we're seeing in the United States of America," says Dr. Ramos." At the end of the article on the WSAV.com site, they link to the following sites:

Pretty cool! We used to only see links to gov't sites and AS!

This was great! WE've seen several local stories like this featured on AoA. It seems the local journalists are doing a much better job with this issue than the national.
I am curious about the context of this piece. Did they scrap the other segment with the "cruel" doctor or did they run this as a follow-up?

Hi Kim,
I was amazed when I watched this video last week. What a great, unbiased report. You did a fantastic job too.
Again, you have a friend in John Barrow in Congress. A great opportunity for change.
