On Saturday, December 6, 2008 Autism United is sponsoring a meeting to develop a state-wide agenda for the 2009 legislative session. The meeting will be held at the Albany Clarion Hotel, 3 Watervliet Avenue Extension, Albany, New York, 12206 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
This is an open invitation to leaders and activists within the autism community in New York who are interested in bringing positive change to people and families with autism. A quick list of the issues to be addressed are:
Philosophical Exemption from mandatory vaccines
Enhanced Religious and Medical Waivers from mandatory vaccines
Improving education services for children and people with autism
Improving human services for children and people with autism (including those transitioning to adult life)
Improving Health Insurance coverage for children and people with autism
This is meeting is for those who intend to actively engage elected officials and the discussion will also focus on developing effective advocacy strategies.
If you are unable to attend, but would like to work on these issues with us, please forward your full contact information and the names of your local legislators. Please also extend this invitation to anyone you know may be interested. We are hoping to have local contact people in every legislative district.
Lunch will be included at a cost of $20.00.
