Wakefield on Jenny, the MMR and the Fight of His Life
Editor's Note: England's Sunday Express has a great article on Andy Wakefield today with quotes that ought to put the fight back into anyone whose energy is flagging right about now (hey, it happens!). He talks about Jenny McCarthy's courage, his upcoming book and his motivation for persevering. "My sole purpose is to help these children and get to grips with the root of the problem, which is what I am doing," he said. "Despite having discovered an apparently new disease my colleagues and I are being vilified purely because of the vaccine association. This link has threatened Government policy and drug-company profit. What we're witnessing over the triple jab is a propaganda campaign based on who has the biggest budget. I have none while the budget of the UK Government and its allies is limitless." Yes, but Andy has allies, too, including Age of Autism and its thousands of readers. -- Dan Olmsted

Re: what mark said...
2.5 years ago I noted a difference in my son when I added a certain supplement to his life. This was our pre-biomed days. I went to our doc and he was nice enough to agree to run all the metabolic-type tests that I came up with through research. He was also kind enough to tell "I won't be able to interpret the results". I went to work calling the Boston Children's Hospital - gastro, metabolic and other depts to find a doc (prior to my medical board days, too). I talked to some very nice people who thought their dept might be the right place...then I mentioned my son was on the spectrum. "oh we don't handle autism" "this may not be the right dept", on and on. I hung up the phone thinking "you've got to be kidding me". Things are a little different a couple years later - but I'm also more savvy. Thank god for DAN!

Mark, Is that true? How tragic. Where can I read those stories you mentioned?

God's Perfect timeline or No such thing as Genetic Epidemic
There are laws of earth and nature that are just basic to faith, science, and human existence... (In no particular order... OK I deliberately put the last one last)
1. In the beginning God Created the Heaven and Earth... Genesis 1:1
2. The Apple falls from the tree... Not up but down to the ground
3. All rivers flow towards the Equator
4. The earth revolves around the sun every 24 hours
5. E = MC2 ( I do not remember what that one means but I know it is a law)
6. Ice melts and displaces itself with water... Water freezes and displaces itself with Ice.
7. All gases can be converted to a liquid at a certain temperature
8. Low pressure = high velocity High pressure low = velocity
9. Heat rises cold sinks
10 like charges repel...unlike charges attract
11. Every object in a state of motion tends to remain in that state unless an external force is applied to it.
12. For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction
13....IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE A GENETIC EPIDEMIC....
Stop
THINK
Save the human race NOW!
Such drastic increases imply the influence of non-inheritable or environmental factors, since, of course, there is no such thing as a “genetic epidemic.” But research continues to focus almost exclusively on studies of brains, screening and genes, as well as on denying the increase or disproving the role of controversial environmental triggers, notably vaccines.
Science is on our side. We need to get the scientist to be unbiased and explain to us how we can go from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 6 in less than 20 years..... The alternative is extinction of the human race....

John
you are right , we have a good Gastro and we dare not say his name. His crime is treating childen with autism and gastro problems.
I am sure he is risking his job just doing this.
you cannot begin to imagine the number of children denied treatment or on permanent prescriptions of laxatives. or the number of children taken into care because their parents have been accused of causing Gastro symptoms by neglect.
there are so many cans of worms to be opened .

Anne
I think there is another big question, particularly in the UK, which is prospect of getting medical help for those already damaged. By putting the three doctors on trial on trumped up grounds they have warned the medical profession off helping the children at all. Much of our paediatric profession, and even parts of the education service, are trigger happy with accusations of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. This is a menace to anyone who steps out of line, or even people who end up in dispute with a school over specialist provision.
Having said that, in my experience, some specialist schools are co-operative over gluten-casein free diets, at least in principle, and despite official disdain.
But the prospects on this front are deeply troubling if the prosecution is successful.

I do believe things are beginning to shift. Even Andy's priciple accusers have nothing to say when challenged:

In the UK Sunday Sun piece, Autism Doc claims government led witch hunt against him, http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/news/north-east-news/2008/09/28/autism-doc-claims-government-led-witch-hunt-against-him-79310-21915131/ Sept. 28, reporter Phil Doherty quoted Dr. Wakefield, 'The UK Government has a big dirty secret that it doesn’t want the public to know . . . they agreed to under write any compensation claims for the MMR. This is why they can’t and won’t let their position fail.'
It's important to remember that the controversy isn't just over the science. It's also about the BIG QUESTION: Who will be held responsible if it's clearly shown that through complete oversight failure, vaccines have damaged a generation of children?
That's too terrible for many people to even consider.
