Well, once I started going state-by-state the trend really didn't hold. Looking at the numbers I'd have to guess that some states just classify SIDS differently and come up with incredibly low numbers.

So, I'm not saying I just proved anything or anything like that, but on a whim I compared SIDS deaths in Maryland (the highest vaccination rate) to Nevada (the lowest)
National average- 54.6 per 100,000 (77% vac. rate)
Maryland- 89.8 per 100,000 (91% vac. rate)
Nevada-32.7 per 100,000 (63% vac. rate)
The SIDS data was from 2004, vaccination rates were what was released this week by CDC.

Check out Sharyl Atkisson's latest blog. Seems like good news to me. Sounds like NIH is finally doing research that seems worthwhile.
