GLUTEN FREE DIET? AS DIDN'T GET THE MESSAGE.

Gluten_freeBy Kim Stagliano

Most of you know that Autism Speaks has partnered with a snack company to sell puzzle shaped pretzels. Isn't that clever? Rumor has it Hershey is coming out with a candy bar for Juvenile Diabetes too.

Guess the fund raisers/publicity pros at Autism Selfpromotes don't fully understand the impact of the GFCF diet.  Here AS team, read and watch THIS.  From the CBS report:

Dr. Seshagiri Rao specializes in treating autistic children. He said that a gluten/cassein-free diet is useful in about one third of his patients who receive an early diagnosis, an alternative diet, a daily regime of vitamins in large doses, behavioral therapy and physical therapy. "Some children can recover completely," Rao said. "Other children can recover to a large extent."

Kim Stagliano is Managing Editor of Age of Autism. She just made her 23,434,099 GFCF meal for her children. Hold the pretzels.

I don't understand how they can earn money selling gfcf pretzels to families already shelling out their entire life savings on therapies, schools and biomedical interventions WHICH INCLUDES THE GFCF diet. Notice on their website they only list gfcf next to the other therapies...not biomed...just gfcf.

"Putz-le" - Perfect Kim! Or how about just Putz - of course I would be referring to AS and not the "Putz-le" at this point!

Why in the hell has AS not negoiated with a GFCF company and made their damn "Putz-le" the same! Not that hard... so... "Make it so" :)

Kim:

Appreciated.

Good point - maybe they should call it a "Putz-le" Those of you who know a little Yiddish will appreciate that.

"..Autism Speaks has partnered with a snack company to sell puzzle shaped pretzels."

I thought a pretzel was called a pretzel just because of its twisted crooked shape.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretzel

When you convert a pretzel into a puzzle piece (??), you lose the "pretzel" characteristic. Might there be a hidden message here? Or maybe they just picked it for its *glazed* look.

I've wondered about Autism Speaks since they "bought" Cure Autism Now. When did charitable non-profits become just another corporation on the Monopoly board?

Can Salvation Army "buy" Goodwill Industries? Can Easter Seals "Buy" March of Dimes?

Anyway, if you are just another corporation trying to sell something and you've got a bundle tied into your puzzle logo, then who are we to question their marketing department working out a deal with a pretzel maker?

They're just twisted.

Since the Wrights like to hold walks, I suggest Jenny and Jim send them a personal invitation to come on June 4th. Perhaps they would like to go on record and explain how they got so far away from the reason they began their organization? Katie, no offense to you, but your mom and dad have the power to stop this nonsense. Sucking money from the community and giving it to research on how to drug 5 yr old kids with prozac just really pisses me off. Single moms are literally dropping dead from trying to care for their children. Puzzle shaped pretzels are another slap in the face that says A.S. will take money from ANYONE, and who cares about the children?

Deborah Delp,

Hello! We need you here. There are many ways to bring about change and many ways we can help each other. Here, together, we can be exponentially more powerful than any one or two of us working alone.

I hope to see you again!

Terri Lewis

Oh, Autism Speaks understands only too well. They understand that as these children recover they lose money because the walks and other fundraisers will stop. They understand that when the cause and eventual cure are discovered they are out of business. Why else do they refuse to look at anything but genetics? All though genetics plays a part in all this for the vast majority of these children the genetic component is very small indeed.

The fact that the Wrights were using bio-medicals for Christian in the beginning leads me to believe that they too, do believe this is a lot of environmental insults. The fact that they have not come out and said so makes them as guilty as the CDC/FDA and AAP. And like those in charge of the agencies they too are guilty of crimes against humanity and should be tried as criminals under the laws governing crimes against humanity. They are traitors, not just to the autism community but to their own daughter and grandson. For shame.

God will deal with them as he will deal with the rest of these criminals.

I'm waiting for Alcoholics Anonymous to come out with its own line of whisky. Yeah -- a dollar from every bottle donated to victims of drunk drivers.

Good for you dearie. I don't think I can count up to seven and even that's on a good day. I have a great recipe for gluten free spinach brownies - but they are a bit of an acquired taste.
Cheers

"Guess the fund raisers/publicity pros at Autism Speak don't fully understand the impact of the GFCF diet."

Autism Speaks understands nothing. My son toilet trained himself within 4 days of going gluten-free and dairy-free. Once those offending proteins left his body, he could actually begin to feel it for the first time.

As for the Kilpatrick's not knowing what caused their son's autism, I can bet it was the MMR. And if they get him scoped they might find some measles virus lurking in their son's insides. Luckily for them they were able to contain it before it reached the stage of leaky gut and possibly before it went to the CNS. Nice job by mom and dad.

This story was covered ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. Notice the comment made that when the child suddenly regressed at 15 months, "the boy's pediatrician asked questions and suggested they delay Noah's scheduled vaccinations until they had more information."

That has got to getting attention and raising serious questions about vaccine safety.
